  • some of you, no most of you posting towards me need to take a huge look at what your saying and who your saying it to. i have been around these aircraft for some time now and im pretty sure i know what im talking about since you know, most of us pilots have flown asstons of missions together and when we are not flying, we are usually talking about flying.

  • the F18 was never meant to fly. every bit of it is aerodynamically incorrect. i know alot of hornet pilots from flying with some and everyone of them know that they only reason the aircraft flies is becuase speed keeps it in the air, the wings and the aerodesign were never ever meant to even succeed. and @ xDvsking666x no the 15 is not really that loud inside. its kind of like a high pitched low whistle that you really cant hear being that you have your headset on and traffic on the radio.

  • Nice video thank you for sharing. All the aircraft in these posts did what they were designed to do there is no need to bash them or their drivers we are all on the same side and we appreciate all of what you all are doing for our country. :)

  • 2 people thought the catapult only threw cats in the air...

  • @F18driver08 i dont have any hours in the 18 if you look above you will see where i said i fly the F15 only the most badass fighter other than the F14 tomcat, the F18 will never amount to be what either of those planes are. and frankly i dont want to fly anything that lands on a damn boat. unless its the 14 of course. and one more thing, i doubt there has ever been an F18 able to do what my F15 can do..... have a mid air collision, lose one of its wings, and still make it home!!

  • @tftrainman Well there were a F-18 that got shot by a MANPAD but managed to get back home safely.

  • @wellerocks: in the 1st Gulf War there was an 18 that was shot in both engines and still landed ok. Also, a pair of 18's collided (one lost a wing) but made it back ok. A google search will yield pics. What it really comes down to is mostly luck and if the computer is able to function with the plane's current mechanical state. Our jets rely on the comp to fly. In other words, comp failure always = crash but mech. damage may/may not = crash depending on if the comp can fly the plane.

  • @tftrainman: the F-18's are the workhorse of military aviation and were designed to perform several roles. F-15's are great but were designed for air superiority. While 15's can perform multiple roles, the 18 is the more versatile platform. Also, a lot of people forget that Navy planes have different engineering requirements for carrier aviation. The 18's gear is massive and the wings need to fold adding a ton of weight. It sacrifices some performance for toughness.

  • @tftrainman: You can't just look at performance in the air to determine the better plane. What about maintenance and everything that goes on to keep the plane airborne? For example, the 14's had over twice as many parts as the 18 and a required much more maintenance. The specs may be great on paper but mean nothing when the plane is broke all the time. I was an enlisted mechanic before being commissioned so I know the ridiculous amount of work that goes on behind the scenes, mostly on 14's.

  • @tftrainman: I hope your flying is better than your grammar since you type like a 10 year old. Also, do you really even know what you are talking about or do you have a huge man-crush on 15's and Top Gun? Yeah, eagles and tomcats are great, but so are the hornets. The 14s and 15s were designed to do a few specific roles very well while the hornets were designed to be versatile. But do you really doubt there has never been an 18 able to do what a 15 can? I think the question should be reversed.

  • @tftrainman: your only example of a 15 doing something an 18 couldn't is wrong considering 18s have done the same thing before. Someone posted an example earlier. What about what the 18s can do and the 15s can't? Can 15s land on a carrier or do they need a land-based runway? Can they refuel each other in mid flight? Can they perform electronic attack missions? Can they simultaneously track land and ground targets? Can they transmit targeting data to other assets and guide other plane's weapons?

  • @tftrainman wow cool story BRAHHHHHHHHHHHHH soooo cooool

  • i fly the F15 E and i can also fly the C, D models but my main assigned aircraft is the E

  • @tftrainman Oh really, that's great! Congratulations!

  • @tftrainman Is the F-15 loud in the inside?

  • awesome video, F18 is a nice aircraft, but i fly the F15 and have to say the F18 will never amount up to be anywhere as good as the 15 and def never be as good as the ole Tomcats

  • @tftrainman Oh really? That's amazing! Are you flying the F-15E? I would give my soul up for your job. I too have my doubts about the F-18, but the Super Hornet seems to be a relatively competent aircraft, especially compared to the F-35.

  • @tftrainman Pretty retarded comment. How many hours do you have in the F/A-18?

  • @tftrainman I think that's because the F/A-18 is a Joint Strike Aircraft. The F-15 was built for strictly for Air Superiority, until they came out with the F-15E Strike Eagle. So I wouldn't expect the F/A-18 to be equal to the 15. Now the Super Hornets are a different story. :)

  • Best vid of its kind man, just fkn love it!!!! Thanks for posting it!
