  • And while lost had a lot of mystery (some of wich still unasweared), BSG was straightfoward. Lost ending was brutal. They had to speed it up unfortantly but still amazing.

  • I think that Lost is more into the Human being as an invidual. That's why it was the purgatory.., Lost is my favourite but BSG comes right after with only e 0.01 score difference. The main reason is the fact tha Lost made you feel much more connected to the characters. Because they've told us individual stories of everyone. You felt like you knew them. Galactica is just the thing "Kick those cylon's ass's" and after a while you were just "this could be real, the Human race and God plans"

  • Lost ftw!

  • Having seen both shows, one stand-out difference between the two is that while BSG can deliver some EPIC moments (some of the best), the show struggles to really take advantage of most of them, and what was once riveting material (eg. gina) gets wasted.

I also can't stress how the reveal of the final five cylons completely undid the resonance of a lot of BSG's most powerful storylines.

  • I don't care which one is considered the best, I believe that every person in the world should watch them both.

Some of the greatest television series in history.

  • I would argue that the majority of LOST's characters are more complex than BSG's. The leads in BSG are complex as hell (especially post-caprica), but the problem with BSG is that the complexity doesn't last the entirety of the series.

  • @Damon242

Yeah, after having thought through it more, I really have to agree with you that they were generally more complex.

  • Both are good, though I prefer Lost. While BSG is a political commentary on society, Lost is more philosophical, more focused on humanity in general. BSG may have the darker, more complex characters, but I think Lost's are stronger on a personal level; they seem more like real people, not just fictional characters. Also, I feel BSG is more in-your-face and spoonfed with its commentaries, while Lost is more subtle with its. I find Lost makes a stronger goldmine for the thinking part of my mind.

  • By the way, Dwight Schrute watches BOTH shows lol

  • And Lost won more Emmy and Golden Globe awards, so....

  • Lost season 1 and 2 owns any show.

  • never ONCE fell asleep on BSG....cant count how many times i fell asleep on LOST and had to rewatch episodes...BSG is more than just a show, it make you think differently about man kind, it pulls you into the show like you were there and much much more...no comparison here

  • The funniest thing about this is that the Lost guy keeps blabbing about how lost had a plan and they were not making it up as they went along. I think all of us who have seen the finale can agree that if they did have a plan, even the writers had no idea wtf that plan was. It all led to nothing. Biggest let down ever.

  • Lost was fun, but BSG was revolutionary. No contest.

  • 4:12 Ellen!? Who like Ellen!?!? -.-

  • yeah I can see why the host would not watch either of these shows he seems more of a HELLCATS kinda gal..I mean guy....

  • Lost all day everyday, BSG kinda bored me in some episodes

  • At least BSG's creators cared to give a conlusion, even though it wasn't perfect, as opposed to an abrupt ending.

  • @GoFeri LOST had an "abrupt ending"? Really?

  • @Damon242

Yeah, that was just silly to call it abrupt. Both had really good endings. Both had their controversial aspects.

  • @GoFeri Okay, maybe not abrupt. Bad choice of wards. It was a shit ending.

  • @GoFeri that was...quick.

I disagree. But we don't need to discuss that, opinions and all.

lol can't stress enough how fast you responded to that.

  • I like Lost, but BSG wins hands down!

  • BSG

    Lost

    Farscape

    Babylon 5

Amazing television I will always remember.

  • BSG strays too far from the current state of the world? REALLY? I wonder why a retrospective of the series was made at United Nations, then. BSG is easily one of the most sociopolitically/religiously relevant shows in recent times. Lost, while great, is far more fluff. A very entertaining, imaginative jigsaw puzzle but BSG actually challenges the very basis of your being. It's by far more complex and morally ambiguous and adult than Lost.

  • @affable83 Darkness =/= Adult

  • I've watched both and Lost is definitely better. BSG is fairly standard sci-fi fare: Spaceships, pew pew, navel gazing, etc.

Lost on the other hand, is a surprisingly original sci-fi show that maintains a strong hold on reality that makes it accessible to all audiences, but doesn't fail to deliver some hardcore sci-fi action at the same time. This grounded atmosphere maintains the audience's empathy for the characters, unlike BSG which strays too far from the current state of the world.

  • Not to mention that Dwight has referenced Lost more times than BSG.

  • I love Lost but Battlestar Galactica is the far superior, more challenging, more complex, more mature and is socially, ethically, morally and politically a more relevant series; not to mention it manages to have a satisfying conclusion, whereas Lost fumbled at the end and took the easy way out.

  • @affable83 How did Battlestar Galactica not take the easy way out?

And while we're at it, how did LOST take the easy way out?

  • BSG rocks!!!

  • BULLSHIT

  • You want proof of my last point? You watched the vid. All the reviews of Lost on this site. Maturity? Fans literally think if they studied physics they'd realise how time travel worked. A tv drives you to study physics to understand time travle? Very mature. One more supporting fact: You're having this conversation with me. As far as real life problems BSG focuses on wartime scenarios.

  • I think it's been well confirmed now that Lost had little to no idea where it was going hence all the left in the dust plot lines. Battle Star Galactica on the other hand wrapped up almost every plot line while leaving mysteries, did BSG's creators make it up as he went along, yes but they did a better job at piecing everything together in the finale, Lost felt very all over the place. It was more a emotional closure than a story's resolution.

  • @larsreal9 Again... Lost was a drama show with mysterious sci fi things in it like a smoke monster. But in very episode there was a flash back showing much storyline with 'DRAMATHIC EXPERIENCES''. AKA it had great character plotlines trew the episodes with each time a further and deeper experiences. In that case LOST IS MORE OF AN ADULT SHOW THEN A MACHINE VS HUMAN WAR. Thats probebly also the reason why Lost had 100x more views then BSG.

  • @BloodyCrAzYzzz Take the Lost series finale, it throughout almost every action movie cliche, was it fun? Yes but still riddled with cliche like a 14 year old kid wrote it. Frank Chesty Lapidus is fully an 80s joke reference to action machismo, The FLYING SHEPHARD PUNCH, A FIGHT ON A CLIFF DURING A STORM. That's ,uch more mature than wartime enemies learning to work together to defeat a common foe, much more mature than showing the evolutions of religious beliefs.

  • @larsreal9 The flash backs and flash forwards is what its about. A show like BSG is replaceble as fuck. This show however is so rare that these motherfuckers are trying to replace it with a show called Flash Forward. Lost is superior to BSG. Don't you think 2 million viewers is low for a show thats called the best sci fi??? Cuz to me its a joke. Ofcourse lost is more mature... Havent you read my comments about real problems in life???

  • @larsreal9 How mature is it to support geek shit like made up words like Fraging or so say we al? What the fuck is that???

  • @BloodyCrAzYzzz After a while Lost began just to throw in crap to misdirect its fans, cool for a mystery show to do but if you do that have an actual plan for everything or at least most of what you throw in and at least attempt to tie up these loose ends in stead of saying that fans who aren't satisfied are just answer hungry. Sci fi gets labled as childish because of robots and futristic clothes ans space ships but it's no more childish than action cliches and supernatural goings ons

  • @larsreal9 BSG has fans that LOVE to dress up as their favorite character. BSG has targetted the kind of fans that are active on forums and youtube claiming BSG to be the best show. I am more then 100% sure that the hardcore fans are about 15 to 21 years old. I bet Lost has hardcore fans thats up to the age of 16 to 40+. And as we al know people above the 30 arnt so ignorant on the internet as 15+ers

  • @larsreal9 Lost is more spirutual focused than supernatural. Ofcourse BSG is more childish with space ships and dumb clothes no1 wil ever wear. Maybe u should just think for yourself why lost had more views. Why more people like it then BSG. Tell me why huh??????

  • @BloodyCrAzYzzz Also I never said BSG is the best show, I said it's better than Lost, my favorites shows, the best shows are Six Feet Under and The Shield and so far Breaking Bad. I just feel after being wrapped up BSG did it much better, BSG didn't overreach and Lost did, which is commendable but still they failed to bring it all together.

  • @larsreal9 Haven't you read the news? Theyll get their Lost awnsers in the dvds. Good luck im done with this convo cuz either way with taste can not be argued with.

  • @larsreal9 No they are not... I am not active on forums i only read them...

  • @BloodyCrAzYzzz Also spirituality is very immature, "We feel lonely or depressed, scared of death so we need to believe is something greater, there must be something greater" That's childish reasoning. They meet up in a church, hug everyone and walk through a gold light, that's ridiculous, BSG is about spirituality too but more so the machinations of religions. The eveolution of it. And Lost fans are more present on the net, look at the # of forums dedicated to listening to whispers. WHISPERS.

  • @larsreal9 Wel so far I have seen everything untill season 2 of BSG and it was surpricely good but in my eyes it doesn't come close to Lost. If BSG is the best show then how come it had REAL POOR RATINGS OF 2 MILLION PER EPISODE... Maybe it is the best Sci Fi show. But I find myseld puting Lost in the drama section cause of al the problems that the characters are facing (in the flash backs) are things that could really happen to a human. And not like: OMG HES A CYLONE!!!

  • @BloodyCrAzYzzz I love lost ut it had more soap but saying it's more mature/ better due and proving it with views or sales is constantly shot down as a point. That means Jersey Shore is more mature than The Shield, Britney Spears' music was more mature than Eleni Mandell. Lost's off island drama still doesn't feel justifiably connected to the on island scenarios. Lindeloff even admitted Lost was created to capitolize of of Survivore and the flash backs were just filler in the first season.

  • that dud in the red dress is the ugliest tranny i've ever seen...and i've seen a lot in brazil

  • this is very sucks

  • BSG is a geek party. LOST is a drama show... So far ive seen everything from up too season 5 and I still love too watch it. Its more for grown ups and not for boys like BSG. Now Ive bin giving BSG a chance, and Ive seen the first movie and I am halfway trew the firstst season and really nothing is special too BSG so far... Its just like those SCI FI geek shows trew space like star trek and that other bullshit. Even STAR WARS is beter...

  • @BloodyCrAzYzzz So your argument is a smoke monster is more adult than a space battle?

BSG took longer to get good but once you get farther along season 1 it becomes the superior show in my book, less filler episodes, tighter construction, although both shows were convoluted BSG tied up more lose ends and didn't rely on HAPPY ENDING YAY! Lost actually had a fairy tale episode "Across the Sea". I love Lost but it's not more adult, neither is, they both play with the same themes in different ways

  • Burn in hell.

  • Bsg over lost any day of the year. Sure, the first season of lost was good, and I mean reaally good.. But somewhere along the way it just became too much crazy shit for me. Bsg kept their cool througout the series and made you feel it. Lost is a jigsaw pussle of a blue sky, Bsg is a good book. Personally I like books.

  • I love Lost and it used to be my fave TV show, but then I started watching BSG...

Easily my favorite television show EVER.

  • Both are fantastic shows - I'd break it down like this:

Writing: Tie (both are good for different reasons)

Look/Style: Battlestar - documentary style you feel as though you are there with the actors

Acting: Battlestar - The most amazing cast in a show - ever

Music: LOST (only because it has live recorded symphony-BSG has more memorable "songs")

Winner: BSG - Better story, acting, I feel as though BSG could be real(Thanks Michael Hogan) - quite a feat for a show set in space with robots.

  • lost was pretty good until they left the island and came back?

  • Battlestar is fucking awesome. Love lost too but BSG is fucking epic

  • Yay MoWo!!!!

  • They are Cylons! Number Two, Six, and Male Boomer.

  • fuck lost.... bsg all the way

  • Yay BSG one. Though I wouldn't have cared either way. I love both shows!

  • What kind of frakked up thing is this? LOST provides answers every show? I haven't laughed that hard since I watched Pres. Obama imply he was initiating tax cuts with a straight face! I've watched LOST since episode 1 and, while it started out as very compelling it collapsed into the patently absurd. BSG has maintained a quality of show unlike any other. Though, I had many problems w/ it, those critiques pale to its greatness. BSG transcends TV; LOST exemplifies everything that is wrong with TV.

  • @AllTerroristsMustDie

Wel then u really have shit in ur eyes or ur brain is damaged because many episodes are provided with awnsers.

  • BSG was well represented. battlestar wins in my book. it always comes down to a tie, but each of us knows the winner

  • wow!! that was fucking stupit, they didn't know wat they were talking about. next time they should really get people that really watch the shows. that was a wasted of time to be desided by the way they dress. like i said fucking stupit and i really hope that sumbody remakes this vs round wit real opinions.

  • Battlestar because while it has its many flaws (the last season was lackluster) ultimately I care about the characters more.

  • BSG all the way, baby! Lost can suck it! Plan? What plan? I've watched both shows from the beginning and as far as I can tell, Lost is stumbling along trying to squeeze out another season now that they've jumped the shark by leaving the island.
