Specific for the android, the motivation is: 1. Google ADC contests (which result in prise money) 2. Extend the community apps on the google market 3. Let people know about the android platform so they can all start using it

most of the barriers are that the new developers to the platform needs to learn everything from the official docs and less community tutorials. it is mostly technical barrier!
