Hertz is actually a unit for cycles per second, and sorry to say but what you said is not exactly correct. Go look at some of the other examples of what happens when you put a liquid or fine powder on a speaker with a high frequency sine wave playing through it, although the substance isn't alive, its a lot harder to explain what is happening than what you said.
