  • YEH YEH YEH................:)

  • This video went viral on Tehran

  • Cheers Macca 54,Numba 1 song 2011 @2012 Rock on T.Rex:) N.Z............Yeh,Yeh.Yeh.

  • 'silver-studded sabre tooth' dream evidences poetic prowess. Check adjectival phrase; it conjures up such imagery. A silver studded sabre tooth queen, that's some queen of the jungle, .. or maybe also, a silver-studded sabre tooth teen ... you see plenty of those in the subways everyday, with their tatts and studs. Seriously silver studded sabre tooth teens... all of them WITH mobile phones. lol

  • OK I seem to have a addition! All the old T.Rex stuff is yet again filling my home, my car and the work place - When will this music ever get out of my heart and mind ? At this time of year - Marc's week - I just always play a couple of tunes - for old times sake - then before I know it, I'm raving about Marc and T .Rex to everybody ! They smile sweetly but must be thinking "Ah poor old girl"!

  • @DesdomonaChild Fancy that. Great minds think alike. I noticed you visited my channel too. If we met up we would be like too silly old chooks wearing punk hair styles, glitter makeup and silky scarfs, and bopping about to Metal Guru... is it you? yea yeah yea

  • Could have sworn he was saying: "Met a gnu!

  • Panic by The Smiths sounding like Metal Guru was intentional on the part of Morrisey and Marr. So give it a rest about the similarity.

  • it a song about his mini-car , how ironic it was before his death in that car crash.

  • years ahead of his time

  • never ever tire of Metal Guru ..age cannot weary this gem

  • i think its a playback, but who gives a fuck?

  • He was so original, and alot of other bands copied him,

  • This song brings back so many memories. As a kid in england by this stage they were huge, and rightly so. I think it was number 1 there for 5 weeks.

  • im not so sure he is miming.......alot of acts did mime on these "hit parade" shows back in the 70s but quite often a backing track would be played which the band mimed to but the vocal would be live......anyway great track , music of my youth!!

  • What a Fucking Genius, Mark was years ahead of his time

  • This is my absolute favorite T.Rex song!... this week.

  • Thanks mate! enjoying!

  • Cheers Macca54:)...........N.Z.

  • MARC BOLAN...........THE SLIDER .......WHIO CARES ABOUT THE PRE RECORDED TRACK DUDE....LEGEND!!!!!

  • hed to thumbs down cuz he's singing to a pre recorded track

  • Still Hot As Song!2011 luv you Marc an T-Rex,Rock on!N.Z.:)

  • effin great!!!!!!!!

  • Marc Bolan & T.Rex at their best. Gone but not forgotten

  • This was the first single I ever bought, not a bad start

  • Great stuff. "Metal Guru" was - and indeed still is - one the definitive anthems of glam rock, along with a small number of other British classics from the early 1970's, such as Bowie's "Starman", Slade's "Mama Weer All Crazee Now" and Wizzard's "Angel Fingers". What an immensely talented man Bolan was ...... and what a lot he achieved during his relatively short time on God's Earth.

  • bolan was a classic. wish he was still alive. even now he'd shit on justin bieber

  • @maximtrickett Justin who?!

  • OK

  • Lumpen glam pap

  • I love Bolans knowing little smile while he sings his crazy lyrics. Ahh happy times.

  • My bro is a bit selective and out of all the brilliant T.Rex songs, he only likes this one and a couple others. He's also scared of Marc Bolan in this video. I told him to put his head up his arse.

  • I am now 7 years older than bolan!

  • what an exalted soul Marc was :D

  • This came on Radio 2 when I was in the car a few weeks ago. If I had been at home I would have jumped up and down because I can't have a T.Rex song come on the radio without me doing something mad. I have stuff on CD but it seems more special if it comes on unexpected.

  • Two drummers before Adam Ant did it lol!

  • @Noodles37UK gary glitter did it before adam as well...although i don't think a dude on bongos counts as a 'drummer.'

  • @canadaniel Well it's a funny looking saxophone he's on.

  • @Noodles37UK are you aware of what bongos are and who gary glitter is?

  • @canadaniel Bugger it. I try not to mention that guy's name. EVER lol!

  • @canadaniel Mickey Finn was a Percussionist as was his predecssor Steve Pereguine Took.

  • @SarahSmith666 and both a waste of stage space!

  • Um, people...there are others in the band, not just Marc

  • I know someone stoned when I see them. And look at Bolan's eyes! Haha

  • @mward1995 He's not stoned! He's wearing eye make-up like any other glam rocker!

  • 2:06 Slade ;-)

  • 2011 Hot as ! Love u Metal Guru, Marc Bolan Lives An Rocks On.. R.I.P. N.Z..

  • Utterly Brilliant one of the 'Best' Rock and Roll Tracks of all time.

  • Clanking sound like metal on metal, like the hypnotic sound of a rattling train on a rail track, a hammering noise; lyrics tell of reverence and danger, through awe (guru), and a vulnerability in a sterile (ie clean) world, cold (metal) and unnatural developments, ie metallic fake to release a wild rock 'n roll child. Could be a sling off at the music industry.

  • @stanibol And the wild rock 'n roll child is no other than MB himself, I guess.

  • and we lost him within 1 month

    Rest baby,

    Gemma

  • Yeh ,Yeh,Yeh,2010 ! 2011 Hot As!Metal Guru Rocks Yeh, Yeh, Yeh, N.Z.

  • Of all the tunes from the glam rock era. This is the one I love the most. Marc Bolan had more charisma than anybody else of his day and was a massive loss when he was killed. Here we see him at the height of his fame.

  • marc was genius

  • Mickey and Marc are absolutely gorgeous. Like ahhhhhh!

  • wonderful then, wonderful now

  • 1 of the greatest entertainers of all time

  • 2010 metal guru we love you,yeh yeh yeh.N.Z.

  • metal guru

  • bolanbillyboogie forever.many happies love diamond davey & randy roses x

  • No G he was tragically killed in an auto accident...

  • T.REX stands for the birth of a new genre: GLAM ROCK

who followed this genre? ( ... slade, sweet, gary glitter, a.s.o. ..... queen )

    may all of 'em RIP

    what a great music-style

  • This was the hottest song in England in the Summer of 1972. Couldn't go anywhere without hearing it. Still his best.

  • The first pop single I ever bought !

  • @robin48gx

I wish it was the first single i bought, it would have been great to live through that era of music... now we're stuck with todays shit.

  • v

    nietnam

  • All alone without a telephone, the man was a minor poet.

  • OMG this was number ONE on my birthday !!!

  • greatest rock song

  • The golden era of rock and roll!

  • this shows the best in him

  • Thanxs Macca54

  • Metal Guru I Love You! 2010 Still Hot!

  • Just awesome love it

  • First album I bought @ 13... & hey gammypetra, it's not THEIR fault they don't know what format was used 40 years ago. Chill. I dig the 13 year old that responded... cool brother. LONG LIVE ROCK.

  • I blame my parents for my love of this song... yet I love it all the same :) xx

  • I love this song when I'n a junior high school student. For a long time, I wish I could this time one more time. My brother might have this record. But I didn't remerber that 'cause this story is more than 30 years ago from now.

  • Where the hell do you hear something that can be compared to Panic?

  • "The influence of T-Rex is very profound on certain songs of The Smiths i.e. 'Panic' and 'Shoplifters'. Morrissey was himself also mad about Bolan. When we wrote "Panic" he was obsessed with 'Metal Guru' and wanted to sing in the same style. He didn't stop singing it in an attempt to modify the words of 'Panic' to fit the exact rhythm of "Metal Guru". He also exhorted me to use the same guitar break so that the two songs are the same!!!" - Johnny Marr

  • I will go further and say that Electric Warrior and Slider influenced the sounds on albums like: Houses of the Holy, Quadraphenia, Dark Side of the Moon

  • Bolan likes to rock, man...

  • My brother had this 45 and I "borrowed" it thirty years ago. LOL. And I still have it. Now all the morons on here go "What's a 45?????"

  • i kno wat a 45 is

    and IM 13!!!

    but i colect vinyl lps

    they sound better

    :D

  • Or Panic by the Smiths is basically Metal Guru

  • @dragoncalf - omfg i didnt hear that until i read that, lol

  • you say: The Smiths song is this

  • Gloria and Marc were not MARRIED..Bolan was TOPS in South Africa these years ..king of Boland

  • Why wasn't Gloria Jones charged with manslaughter? Surely if you cause someone else's death but it isn't planned that IS manslaughter. Don't all attack me at once: I'm 28 and not a T-Rex fan so I'm not asking it out of vindictiveness. I'm just curious about the whole story.

  • racist

  • I'm not 100% sure but I think there was an investigation of some kind back then.

For it to be classed as manslaughter in this case, there'd have to be some proof of extreme negligence or recklessness on her part, for example drink driving, speeding, driving without due care and attention.

It is possible to be involved in a fatal car crash and be none of the above, ie a tragic accident, so I'm pretty sure that must have been the conclusion for no charges to be brought against her.

  • Still Hot 2010.

  • a star.

  • he's singing over a track of him singing lol

  • seen them in 1972 the hot summer night in july at the fox in downtown detroit they were a hot band during that year

  • Looks like Marc's singing live over the recorded version to me and doing a pretty decent attempt,

  • A true ambassador & I suspect- an academic ! Blokes at school put the shit on because I liked T Rex.(until they got to "the party" & found a lack of stoner music and tolerance especially from the shielahs! Onya Marc & Mick !

  • For down below a couple... 'cuz the R'n'R hall is a fuggin' joke. They should most definitely be in. As should a lot of rock bands.. how 'bout the Runaways ?, Black Sabbath, KISS, DEVO, the NY Dolls...

  • after listening to this song really loud i feel i could do anything!!!!!!

and why isnt marc bolan in the rock and roll hall of fame!!!!!!!!

  • @bolanthfcmod44 Why indeed? He was an exceedingly talented man, who instigated the 'glam rock' craze of the early/mid-1970's. His untimely death in an horrific road traffic accident - at the very early age of 29 - was a tragic loss to the pop/rock music industry (as well as to his family and personal friends).

  • Sad to think he didn't even reach his 30th birthday. Bolan was a true original.

  • @CNicol40 Tis how true metal gods live and die.

  • @CNicol40

Not really, that's the way to go out.

  • @CNicol40 Yeah, he was a legand! In my heart forever!

  • was it not nine days later we all lost Marc...?

    Rest now.

  • Oh that face, that voice. Marc at his most gorgeous. I wish you were still with us sweeheart.

  • he has said in a interview that metal guru is a car

  • thanks

  • surprising, isn't it?

  • I'd like to post my take if its ok with my fellow Bolan fans

This is a song sung to the singer from a fan in the audience; he/she is asking the metal guru to attract some girl/guy to the audience for them to hook up with.

Who makes songs like this now?

And someone who wears a t-shirt of his own face to his own concerts is the only one who could write a song like this.

If Bolan were alive now he would be the baddest rapper ever

  • I think Bolan was a punk before punks knew about Punk. Does that make sense?

  • fukin too right dude

  • Perfect sense.

  • Perfect Sense.

  • @hearditman I think you're on to something there.

  • Love you forever Marc...

    Paul

  • my fav bolan song...pete

  • I love T. Rex, and Marc Bolan. This song is amazing :D

  • Just incredible ... the UK glam rock era of the early to mid 70s was one of the greatest times in music ... even tho I was only 6 at the time this came out.

Australians loved this music ... Americans ignored it ... no accounting for taste =P

This is my fave T.Rex song (& Hot Love).

  • I didn't ingore it. And when it came a few years later repacked as punk from the UK via New York I was all ears.

  • Lol ... I was wondering if I would get any bites with my comment.

If your from NY then I'm not surprised ... as ppl there were a bit more experimental with there taste in music such as the underground punk movement at CBGB's.

  • Don't understand why this isn't the move watched song. Much better than Children of the Revolution or Telegram Sam. Hypnotic. Remember when this came out. Just sent a shiver down your spine. Incredible.

  • i am only 17 but i love this song its completly timeless

would have loved to see him live

    great man
