Nadi needs to get a mayor that can do something about this problem. I don't know if you realized that most of the time Nadi is the only town flooded. There are other low lying towns in Fiji like Labasa, Lautoka, Suva but the drainage system is so beautiful in these towns. It may flood at times.but once in a blue moon, not every time like Nadi. If electricsuga was right about Namotomoto village, then Nadi needs a good town council that can fix this problem. After all make use of the people's tax
u know towards the end near those blue buildings there's a road turning into the left...my school's down that road!!!...now when i think about it, its quite funny...haha
It breaks my heart to see Fiji ( was born and lived there till 95) in such terrible condition....... even though people have gone thru so much , they still manage to smile and say "bula"...
I am due to go to the islands on Monday, does anyone know if the boats are able to get there. I heard people are stranded with limited food and water.
Wise. You wouldn't get out of Nadi at the moment. It's worse today than yesterday. The Denarau road (ie Narewa Rd) is closed. Narewa Village is totally under water.
Thanks for posting this Dick. I have friends in Nadi who are having a very bad time with the floods. (their villages are by the river ie Narewa, Namotomoto, Wailoaloa Beach). I'm staying in touch via phone with them, but searched You Tube in the hope someone had posted videos.
Most grateful to you! If you are still in Fiji (specifically Nadi) please keep posting.
Thank you - thought as much (to both questions). Suspect your video was Denarau Rd (ie Narewa Rd) to intersection/traffic island at Nadi Bridge, then you turned left ie the blue shops on left. Thanks again.
I've also found the Fiji TV website which contains all their news broadcasts so that has been very helpful too.
You returned home just in time by the looks. So sad!

I was there with my girlfriend and it was a nightmare.
The tour operators are responsible for all the people stranded.

Wow, that looks like a river in the middle of town. Good your car didn't stop in the middle of that water surge.

Unfortunately waqadra was hit quite badly, unless they are on a high place chances are they were evacuated to higher ground.
The bridge into Nadi town was completely screwed and i don't think anyone can go into town as yet.

Denerau was pretty good when we left. It was the roads between Denerau and Nadi that were the problem. More rain today though

... and due to worsen by Wednesday apparently.

ps: where exactly was this video taken? Queens Rd Nadi? If so, where exactly? Hard to recognise with all that water.

Hi this was filmed on the main road from Denerau marina to Nadi airport. Back in NZ now.
