  • CALL OF THE VALLEY, Maybe the best Indian Music compilation CD ever made (bribushan is in most of the songs)

  • Is this from a dvd? If so what is the title of the video? I love Brij Bhushan Kabra, but there are so few recordings available (at least in North America)

  • No, not a DVD but Channel 4 television in the UK.

    Nick

  • this bihag?

  • yes it is bihag

  • Ah, the slide-guitar! Undoubtedly one of the most charming instruments in the world, and Kabraji is one of its foremost players to hail from India. Two of his students, V.M. Bhatt and Debashish Bhattacharya, are also superb exponents of this magical instruments.

  • Vishwa Mohan Bhatt is not Kabraji's student. Vishwa Mohan-ji learned from his elder brother first before becoming a disciple of Pt. Ravi Shankar.

  • I thought I read or heard it somewhere that Vishwa Mohan Bhatt was Kabra´s student, but if I´m wrong in that respect I apologize for my mistake.

  • @kariaudar Debashish Bhattacharya was Kabra's student (and received from him the guitar he plays, it is a Hofner acoustic guitar bought by Kabra in 1958 and modified by himself in order to play it slide - see the booklets of Bhattacharya's recordings from India Archive Music).

  • @andsalomoni Is there any way of you scanning this for me? or do you know of a place I can find these images themselves?

  • @kariaudar vishwamohan bhatt is not kabra student he is self worked on that but vishwamohan bhaat father and mother was well popular musicians

  • Dude?!?!?

Do you know anything about Indian classical music? Have a look around youtube & check out how much great stuff there is here.

    Nick

  • your comment is retarded.

  • Dude, I'm trippin to this shit right now. Good stuff.

  • That guitar is his lap looks like a Gibson archtop--an L-5 or a Super 400 or something. Am I mistaken?

  • I believe he played a Super 400.

  • I first stumbled upon Brij Bushan Kabra on Guitar Player magazine 10 yrs ago... and finally glad to watch him playin here

  • Same here. I just love YouTube ...

  • i'm using this for a project, so could somebody confirm the name of the performer on the guitar and the name of the raga, if there is one? i need to site it...thanks!

  • That's a really beautiful râga ! Thanks.

    Jim

  • Simply awesome! But if I am not wrong then according to me Brij Bhushan's playing is reflecting a typical style of the great Mahiyar Gharana.

  • Many thanks for posting one of the Masters.

  • The bihag is wonderful.. never heard Kabra ji before..thnx for posting
