Well durring the Civil War Lincoln suspended a lot of our rights. He even jailed editors of news papers who didn't tow the line, and many more violations, in the name of war. He set a presidence that was never challenged. In this country, once a presidence has stood the ravages of time, it sorta gives any President extreme measures durring extream periods in our history. Take a look at what FDR did durring WW2. Libs forget that one.
