  • "You get double the balls in this episode" Oh Roger, you make me so happy :D RIP brother.

  • I saw Picolo!

  • Mmmm...I like balls....

  • 不来方!

  • Damn so many cute japanese boys <3

  • Thank you Roger

    R.I.P. from Japan

  • "You get double the balls in this episode" Lol.

  • You're probably one of the few American/Western looking teachers at that school right? Shouldn't all your students notice you?? Hahaha :P

  • I just noticed how unnecessarily large my school is.

4,000 students, and it's about 6 times smaller than this school.

  • awsome!!!! high school

  • How many people skatebooard? Just curious.

  • dood, dont you feel out of place there? Like 1 white guy in like 900 asian people, I would, just wondering of your opinion/point of view about that.

  • @Vietzx in one of his earlier videos he does say he sometimes gets a bit conscious being a foreigner with a camera looking around. he pasted away january 27, 26 in the states 2010 =/

  • Ahhh...Iwate Swan - you are remembered.

  • I will follow in your couragous steps.

  • this is the high school ill be going to in march.. thats crazy that he taught there.

    RIP Iwate Swan

  • I'm so jealous, I'd love to go to a japanese school, to help myself continue learning their culture and language.

I'm really going to miss Rodger. I only got to finding his channel just a few days ago, and I really regret having not been able to find out about him sooner.

    RIP.

  • @MoriokaMatt He died??? O_O

  • lol tehy are playing Beatles Music at the beginning.

  • HAHAHHA did they dressed up as haruhi suzumiya at 6:28?

  • thats crazy.... i wish my school had 900 students... our school is probley smaller than that one with 4,500 students

  • oh yeah, how's life over there? I want to move to Japan later in life, but I've read quite a few cons of living in Japan. What can you tell me?

  • I tried yakisoba at an anime fest... too bad I didn't enjoy it :( I guess I'm not really into seafood :\

  • EPIC newspaper Totoro! Haha.

  • so this is when they have in anime where classes compete with each other?

  • i suppose so. school festivals are a massive deal in japan, so it's no surprise that they are often depicted in popular forms of entertainment here.

  • OMG!Which school did you go? You should come to my school festival next year! lol

  • You should see if you would be allowed to film a part of one of your classes, to show us what it is like.

  • So when we see an episode about the Iwate traffic.

  • traffic here actually isn't really that bad. i can only imagine what driving in tokyo would be like though haha....

  • Hi, Rodger, so what car did u get?

  • toyota starlet.

  • So cool to see that band covering All My Loving by the Beatles ... glad to see some young Japanese people getting down with some classics! =D

  • i had some of those at the big festival they have in may in tokyo. i didnt like them too much, too chewy

  • looks quite nice out there! i wonder what octopus balls taste like? especially with the chocolate. ill have to try out takayoki looks amazing!

  • Mickey was adulterated :( cool vid cool car

  • i have no idea what takoyaki taste like can someone tell me? i've tried newborn octopus and it made me gross out i tasted it and everything it was horrible i even tried biting it and it was extremely durable and rubbery i gave up trying to eat it. i just don't know how you guys can eat that thing do they put something special in it? is the balls the testicle of an octopus?

  • lol no they are not the testicles. they taste chewy and pretty good I think. But of course, different strokes for different folks heh.

  • Haha nice Rodger XD

  • I wish my school had festivals when I went there. What exactly is a Culture festival? Do all Japanese schools have one? So awesome!

  • See Japanese cultural festival on Wikipedia

  • Mm chocolate and sprinkles. Best on...takoyaki? Haha it looks like you had a great time. Awsome to see where you work at! ^^

  • That looked like it was a pretty cool festival. I'm glad you enjoyed it, Swan.

  • It's cool that you brought your camera with you that day.

  • Either way, I knew I recognized it from somehwere

  • wow thats cvool japan ist cool :)

  • puss balls aww... It look like fun.

  • That was so cool. I wish they had Festival like this here in Holland. Only in Japan do you see things like this. Great video.

  • Wow. This is an interesting episode. And yeah, you got a car. That's great.

  • chocolate on takoyaki... wtf no way can that be good, how was it ? and LOL at the piccolo, classic, great episode once again

  • I wish we did something like this at my school... my school is so boring ~.~

  • I wish i had some mcdonalds... it taste so nice ~.~

  • Great vid! I really liked this one. Inside of a school festival, something that most foreigners don't usually get to see. Sweet ride, BTW! Almost looks like my new Ford Focus!

  • Yay for the new car!! Looks like fun! That's so cute they recognized you. What's an octopus ball taste like? Some nice artwork. I like how the students can do little shows. "Double the balls" lol. Cute car. What a fun and cute episode! I would love to see a video about the schools you teach at and what that is all about. :)

  • "I have sprinkles and chocolate on my octopus balls"

  • As always, very cool video Rodger =) Hope you enjoyed all those balls. Ha!

  • ありがとうございました

  • 2:45 Oh yeah.

  • Did they have a karaoke competition? When I went to high school in Japan a while ago I was in the karaoke competition, and it was pretty fun. I also helped out the English conversation club at the bunkasai.

  • i didn't see one, but i would not be shocked if there indeed was one. Got two more culture festivals for my other schools coming up in a few weeks...will be fun to see how they measure up!

  • im so glad i stumbled across this! ive always been fascinated with japanese culture. definitely subscribing!

  • Hi little blue guy

  • double the balls, rodger always delivers!

  • nice interesting.

  • not many students for such a big school different than in the states, see u have the car going might be good to learn basic upkeep to save u some trouble

  • "octopus balls"

  • This is why the US sucks. If we had this, we wouldn't be so un-unified with other people who go to your school.

  • Wait...other people go to my school?

  • It's a festival! I think it's so great that you didn't even know it was going on when you got there. Surprise! That happens to me all the time, I'll go somewhere and something will be going on I had no idea about.

I'm guessing that the students wear uniforms at all schools in Japan, yes? (At your 3 schools?)

  • yes, they wear uniforms at all 3 different schools. And the uniforms are all different which is kind of interesting.

  • Double the balls lol!

Great vid and grats on the car.

  • another great video mr swan awesome

  • How does it feel driving on the right side?

  • balls

  • How much did the car cost? How much is gas in USD? How much is insurance?

  • 1. $3,600

    2. To fill my tank it costs about $35

    3. $100 a month (ouch).

  • Not bad, about like America, the rumors of stuff costing more in Japan seem to be fading more and more haha.

  • I wish my high school would have had something fun like this.

Those people were so dull T_T

  • Was that K-ON?

    6:29

  • No, that was Haruhi S2's OP.

  • Double the balls, double the fun.

You sure look like you smile a lot :3

  • All the students don't know who you are? Why would they have to ask if you work there?

Also they didn't tell you the culture festival was going to happen?

  • Well, I think with anyone can go to the culture fest. I'd have to double check on that, but I think it's possible for non-students and non-teachers to see high school culture fests. That might be why they didn't know. :D Plus, if there's a lot of teachers..and..yeah.

  • bingo. that, and this video was filmed some time ago where I had only worked there for a few times (and only once a week at that). Plus, though I teach 160 students here, that still leaves about 750 students I don't teach and have weekly contact with. But yeah, it was also because it was open to the public.

  • Piccolo lol

  • i love your vids, i like how your reviewing different movies now, but please don't neglect your horror, i love them, you're the only guy on youtube that does them so well.<3

  • Double the octopus balls, ha ha ha.

  • hahah xD the dancing girls, standard japan :D

  • give me back my high school life!

  • Awesome videos! keep it up

  • LOLz.....that's what she said!!!

  • Double the balls.... awesome ^^

thnx for the upload again Rogde Xx

  • I can't wait to hear how the driving on the left lane feels like

  • haha normal for people from the UK though! hey roger is your car automatic? most are there right? like america?

  • it's an automatic yeah. and you get used to driving on the left fairly quickly. you kind of have to, it's either drive on the left or crash into oncoming traffic haha.

  • Ah thats ok for me, im English and we drive on the left here too lol =)

Thanks again for all the vids! keep it up! good to see ur having fun!

  • Them takoyaki balls look delicious! :p

Were many of the students willing to be on the camera or unwilling? by what I saw, it looked like they wanted to be filmed. I do however know how it could bring trouble if you did film a specific student for a consider amount of time, so I am not saying you should have.

  • exactly, the students that know about the videos are excited about them, but I have chosen not to film them as this can lead to unrequired bouts of trouble.

  • I love your videos man, I cannot get enough of Japanese culture.. And these videos are a great look inside the Japanese lifestyle and culture.. Keep up the great work, and maybe I will see you in Japan at some point :)

  • I'm hot for teacher!!!!

  • thanks for sharing, cool movie

  • Gaijin didn't get the office memo! Just kidding haha

  • Haruhi dancers! OMG I'd never see that at my school. xD That school festival looked really fun! Congrats for getting your car btw. :)

  • is it a toyota starlet?

  • it sure is :)

    cute little car haha.

  • at 4 mins 45 secs its totoro from "my neighbor totoro" one of studio ghibli films i love all there films XD

  • indeed it is!

  • are the actualy balls or just mean rolled into balls.....

  • rolled into balls haha.

  • Mind blowing to see a car with the driver on the right in something other than a movie.

  • Nice episode, my favorite so far :]

  • haruhi dancers thats random!! XD the school fest looked really fun and the pictures it was like a art gallery XD XD

  • mm takoyaki balls

  • It is my old school.

I am a graduate of Kozukata high school!!

  • it's a really terrific school!

great staff, wonderful teachers, and amazing students!

  • someone needs to give you your own tv show, many people would tune in for sure

  • ooooohhhhhh

    I can't believe it!!!!

some kids are wearing Croatian socker/football team T shirts

    OMG

  • yea right, show them

I think he just didn't do it because of his girlfriend, maaaybe

  • seeing that I am a high school teacher, I don't think it would be in good taste or proper judgement to fill my videos with high school girls. In fact, I am weary of filming students in any capacity, so something very public like a festival is about the extent I would imagine myself doing so right now to stay on the safe side and not land in any foolish trouble.

  • awesome video Mr Swan, prob the best one in the series so far :)

the Haruhi dancing girls were awesome xD

  • pretty cool. i suprise that they didn't have chair for the concerts. what did they say about you filming your self?

  • just general gasps of shock and awe hah. though, all of the students and teachers who have seen the videos thus far have really enjoyed them, so that has been nice.

  • I def dont have the balls you do to film with all the people around.. but your videos are great because you do!

I'll try to get the courage to film my school one day!!

  • we'll see if this season i am brave enough to film somewhere i have always wanted to: the local grocery store! for some reason filming a video there seems quite daunting, but i think it would be really interesting....

  • Cool video as usual Mr. Swan. ;)

You seem like a very down to earth kinda guy so I bet the kids like having you as a teacher. Hehe

What are Japanese teachers like in general? Are they very strict or are they a lot like EU/US teachers? :)

Oh, and the Iwate Swan theme is really nice. I have no idea who the Keterol person is but it's very well made. :)

  • every teacher is different, but overall i really like my teachers. They aren't too strict actually. But yeah, i've really enjoyed being in class with all of my students, teaching is a very rewarding job for me.

  • The 'social' jobs are always very rewarding I think. You may not get an instant reward like you would as a carpenter or whatever (ie. "I made that with my hands!") but the feeling that you actually make a difference is just rewarding on another level entirely.

Having children/young people come up to you asking for help etc. is just wonderful. :)

  • Thanks! First time seeing a real -life school festival other than in anime it was awesome. Hope u had fun.

  • Wait, .. so you work there but they didn't tell you about the Festival?

  • yup. granted, when this video was filmed i had only just started working there for a few weeks, and I have since asked my fellow teachers to keep me in the loop with these things haha.

  • 3:20 excellent riff

  • 1:23 - at first glance I thought those were swans....how ironic that would have been heh.

Yet another great one, keep em comin!

  • haha, that would have been awesome.

  • Absolutely love your videos! I just recently started watching and had to watch all of the previous ones lol. The videos helped curb the stress of exams for me last week so thank you so so much! Quick question, not sure if you answered this somewhere else but, how did you begin learning Japanese? I would love to start learning and have no idea where to begin. Thanks again and keep up the awesome videos!

  • ay man start learning by reading/studying some basic japanese textbooks you can buy from any bookshops. Also great way to get a feel for the language is to watch dramas and movies goto mysoju . c o m they have lots of videos Gambatte!

  • check out my "read real japanese" video for some pointers. look for the "genki" books. they are great for those starting out with the japanese language.

  • Great work Swan. I love your videos and you have really made me interested in japanese language and culture. At school i am studying japanese and hope to go for exchange programs and studying programs to japan in the next couple of years

  • OMG i'm the first to comment!!!
