Please I would like to know what are the requirements or permits I need from the TSA in order to bring an air rifle brand RWS. 177 CAL into the United States from South America. thank you
I used this information a while pack to fly with my firearm. Opened my case in front of them, never gave them my key. Now that I look into more it would seem the 'lock and retain key or combo' only applies to Handguns or something of the like. Maybe this has already been discussed, but I'm just learning about it.
(3) firearm is other than a shotgun, rifle, or other firearm normally fired from the shoulder position ... only the passenger checking the baggage retains the key or combination.
Too bad TSA often does not know the rules. In San Jose, CA they REFUSED to inspect in my presence AND would not let me check my bag unless I gave them the combo to the gun case. They would not allow me to be present.
What were you guys packing? If it's a handgun the Federal Aviation Regulation 108.11 reads: "the baggage in which it is carried is locked, and only the passenger checking the baggage retains the key or combination". Should have asked for a supervisor.
Great video! Trying my 1st time to fly with a firearm next weekend. Sounds like typical bureaucratic issues ahead of me . I'm flying out of ATL, so I hope that part will be easy. Backup plan is to have my rides hang out close until I clear security. If I can't check it on my return flight, I will give it to my friend and have him ship it back via gun store to my local gun store. I found his slideshow: Google'd "how do the various carriers rate" , 1st result
Fine, tell that to the guy stabbing you in the UK. Would you rather have something to protect yourself then? Probably not, since the UK will throw YOU in jail for doing so. Lame.
@Krustyboomer just a thougth.. does a gun really make u stabbproof? Gunlaws are pretty much the same all over europe so in a way US ppl are lucky in one way i ahve to say some states have rather silly laws when it comes to guns. Hunting is one thing, protection for home and an i duess EDC counts as one but 1 person having what 20 odd guns is kinda adding to the debate wouldn´t u say? purpouse and need before greed.
@wsvjr I know this is an older post but you are incorrect sir, Glocks are made in Austria and for the US market are assembled and tested in Smyrna, Georgia.
Anyone with such a healthy attitude about guns, security, such a sense of humour and a presentation style like that is someone I can listen to.
It's just a shame we've all had our teeth pulled here in the UK and if we did anything like this, the psychos who were bullied to breaking point in school and now wander around with HK MP5s and Police Uniforms shooting Brazilian electricians with impunity would just take aim and ventilate us!

Imperial US Citizens freed Europe. Italians tried to enslave them ;)
Also, all my guns are American made. I refuse to own German or Italian made guns.
