I'm a natural born New Yorker and I have to agree with Miller. NYC was hard enough to deal with BEFORE the yuppie invasion. I wish these locusts would get their fill of partying and real estate money. I hope it all goes horribly wrong for them and they just get the hell out and let me have my city back.
First, I loved seeing the Picasso paintings; as Picasso is my most fav. painter in the whole wide world. Second, it was good hearing Henry Miller speaking about New York in the most 'realistic', and, extremely hard hitting terms. I think, generally speaking, people tend to idealize living in other cities/places; but, where they were actually born/grew up...the do NOT tend to idealize there at all...but, would be far more inclined to go put that place down...just through knowing the 'reality'.
