Yep, there are cutscenes. I skip them, but there's probably a video on Youtube that shows them if you're curious.

Easily my favorite Contra title ever made! I still can't believe I beat this entire game without dying once...god, the amount of time and memorization I put into this game...good times! Awesome job on your playthrough!
