  • спасибо чувак : )

  • Out of watching 10,000 brake adjustment videos this one taught how to do it. Thanks.

  • whats the name of that shimano brake?

  • Thank you very much, very well explained.

You helped me a lot with this video.

    All the best from Spain!

  • Nice easy tutorial, job done, happy days again.

    Thanks from the UK.

  • where do u get a #5 allen? mine is slightly smaller

  • I can do it, and I didn't know that!! thks for the tip...

  • If you've got cartridge style pads (that can be replaced without readjusting toe) it's preferable to just replace the pads than adjust the cable at the anchor. Cables don't like multiple crimps. Once you run towards the end of barrel adjustment, it really means time for new pads in either case.

  • So much easier to adjust than those stupid u brakes. My niece's bike has u brakes and I can't seem to get them working at all. Why don't all bikes have v brakes?

  • Sorry, what sort of brakes?

    But cheers, great tutorial :>

  • Thanks man! I can fix my brakes now. I have the tools, and I have exactly the same brakes!! and now I have the know-how!

  • You are absolutely wonderful. Thank you!

  • thanks a lot bro

  • Great Instructional video

  • Great video.. Great instructions

  • Why wont my calipers open up after stopping bike? Is there a return spring somewhere? I have to reach down to the brake (front) and gently move them, so as to free the wheel. HELPO

  • worked several hours trying to adjust mine. never thought of turning the barrel all the way out and then setting the cable and then turning the barrel back in... simple!

    thanks.

  • thank you man!

  • Oh ya..and I got it right the first time thanks to your video.

  • Wowww. Thank u, thank u, thank u. On the spot. I've been trying 2 figure out how 2 do this forever. Yes it seems simple 2 alot of people but if you've never done it or seen it done...A+ here. Vid is nicely done, professional, up close 2 see what is going on, and using the right terminology instead of just "showing us." I've seen alot of vids that u need 2 see up close like this & the importance in those vids seemed to be getting the person in the shot. Gonna have 2 ck out ur other videos. Thx!

  • thank you!!

  • Thanks. My daughter brought her both-flat-tires bike over from her mom's and the brakes are .. I don't know what. I might even have to buy new parts for it, but at least I'll have an idea of what to do. I appreciate your doing this video.

  • @cmonneah LOL WUT?

  • Excellent, I'll go fix my kids now. Thanks!

  • awesome!.... Thanks.... really helpful!

  • Great tip. So easy once it was explained. Thanks!

  • very practical

  • wonderful.....even I could try that. Very very well explained that even a woman can understand it :o)

  • BTW don't un-scew the barrels all the way, just about 1/4" to 1/3" (inch) out. Too far and you end up re-creating the problem you are trying to fix, as I learned. Thanks for the vid, very helpful!

  • Good video I suppose, but it would inspire more confidence if he didn't avoid showing the free spin of the tire at the end.

  • Thank you so much, I have been fiddling with these brakes for the last couple of weeks trying to correctly adjust them. It's simple when your shown how.

  • 9 people on here must not be able to ride a bike

  • Great guide! Nice and simple. Really appreciate it!

  • Thank you!!!!!!

  • I love V brakes....easy to work on, easy to adjust.

  • i hate v brakes now after 5 years riding a bike with them. im now going to buy CUBE Ltd Cls Pro with hydra. Cant wait and i hope il buy it.

  • "Keep it simple"... some vidios go way off on one . This is good & its helped me. Thanks

  • will you tube make bike repairer lose their job?...btw thank you!

  • this the best way to adjust v brakes and cheep then buying the 4 hand tool from parktool that can cost up to $32

  • dude this video was simple and very effective thanksamillion thumbs up

  • Very Good

  • Thanks dude :D. I thought had to go all the way to a bike shop to fix that :P.

  • A+ thanks for sharing

  • nice that was very well conducted!

  • Thank you very much.. your a great help..

  • Great video, but not such a great bike.

  • @rooster8090 lol!

  • brakes on the tyre..dont you mean the rim dude..

  • Dude awesome video. I'm not sure why I haven't done it this way before.

  • This video says nothing about how to center the brakes around the wheel, only about how to adjust the overall tension.

  • @kqr147 And Your point is?

  • @cylonBS

His point is clear as crystal.

It doesn't show you how to adjust the entire V-Brake, such as how to align it on the rim and etc.

But I think this video has been the most helpful to me than any of the others, since the rest is just common sense.

  • @kqr147 I think if your breaks are centered, this manuever would center the brakes as well... if your tire is off... it might be bent... in which case.. just loosen the breaks... or maybe you can check to make sure when you put the tire in to the fork that it's aligned that way. hope that helps....

(i keep havign the same problem!)

  • Thanks dude!

  • Great video! Thank you!

  • Thanks dude!

  • Great video. Thanks

  • Excellent video. Thank you for the tips.

  • Bloody hell that was easy. 10th video in no bollocks. Well done

  • Bueno

    Gracias

  • This has been really helpful. Thanks

  • thanks

  • Thank you so much this helped alot!

  • Most bike videos on YouTube suck. This one is excellent! Thank you!

  • The good news: now I know how to adjust my brakes! Thanks!

The bad news: I have to get my bent wheel fixed because now it rubs :P

But I needed to get that done anyway. Cheers!

  • @ralree Hi - maybe you just need to adjust the spokes. I thought I needed to take it to the shop, but this video showed me how to do it. It saved me a trip and a few quid - and hey, I know how to do it myself now! Look for a video on how to true a wheel.

  • what about them little screws on the side ?????

  • @hoplite46 if U mean those screws on the brakes ther is no need to do anything with em because they only balance the brakepads so that they are at a equal distance from the rim on both sides. i have only once altered them once and it was after i have used my bike for about 4000km...

  • @Templehawk my brakes are still binding on one side what am I doing wrong????

  • @hoplite46 that side where the brake is binding the you shuld tighten the screw and on the oposite side losen it abit, until your brakes are ok. if not try to adjust the screws again. it's not so hard with abit of trial and error you find the right adjustment.

remember thouh that when you brake the settings will move abit so might need to fine tune it after a short while.

  • thanks man, i finnaly got my chopper bike breaks fixed

  • Thanks

  • Thanks dude!

  • Nice one

  • Great job. probably saved me a bundle on a professional tuning.

  • But your rims better be true.

  • Excellent! Many thanks.

  • Excellent presentation. Short, simple and concise, but also very clear and informative. Many similar presentations would have spent 8 minutes or more to say the same thing. Well done!

  • Good shit. The 8 people that disliked this video are idiots becuase its easy to see whats hes doing to the bike and helped me out a ton.

  • should my front brakes be softer than the back?

  • You helped me live another day without worries :)

  • Excellent

  • thank you so much! I LOVE INTERNET!

  • Thank you so much that was a fabulous tutorial!!!!!

  • sweet wrist bracelet

  • Excellent video. Thank you!

I really like how you show that the barrel adjuster should be unscrewed almost all the way out, first. It is a very straightforward, foolproof method. The best I have seen. Thank you!

  • excelente papa!..no sabia que se ajustaba asi..

  • Adjust the pads first!

  • thanks very much!

  • Okay, I did that...very helpful, but there are two screws you didn't talk about and my brakes still don't work. The arms do not center. The left side has 5 mm space, but the right side has none and rubs. Nothing will hold it in the center. Same for front brakes but not as bad.

  • i allways get the same problem with my V-brakes the wont pull equally

  • Thanks! I just adjusted my V brakes for my ride today!

  • ey friend , that didnt worked..i mean my breaks are like very soft still and if i pull the wire 1cm further then my wheels aren't moving properly!

  • .. and I was messing with pads all the time. Thanks for that!

  • Thank you devin gonzalez

  • Great video! I had completely forgotten about screwing out the handlebar adjuster before tensioning the cable. Now i can get on with my bike!

  • Hey, great video! I watched a bunch of videos, and yours was the most clear, the most concise, and the best shot.

  • So THAT'S how it's done!! Guess I've been doing it wrong. But, is there really any right or wrong way to do it?

  • i like my brakes tight like a virgins ass

  • @bigwillisawesome ROFL. TMI, dude. LOL.

  • Nice...Thanks

  • Thanks for the info...bicycle user manuals make it way too COMPLICATED!

  • Thanks. This was awesome. And simple!

  • Thank you for all your videos, it really helps to save some money! All of your tips are simply AMAZING! :)

  • Comment removed

  • Thanks so much for the video! I was having trouble with my brakes and now I know how to fix it!!! I don't have to go to a specialist now :)

    -Thanks!

  • Genius!

  • Devon, I wished I had seen this before I spent so many hours working on my son's bike. Thank you for your really helpful demonstration. It was easy to follow, well stated and the video was perfect. Thank you.

Mike PIrkkala somewhere in the orange groves, Florida

  • Awesome job! You helped me tremendously! Thanks.

  • Thanks for the video it was a great help.

  • Thank you. v ery helpful to a noob!

  • Thanks! Very helpful... :)

  • 5 stars!! thanks.

  • Rj botman is saying vry true

my v brakes often loose thier strengh

    :(

  • Or you can do the opposite which works like most mechanics tell you to, with any other brake

Tighten the barrel adjuster all the way in, and pull on the slack of the cable then tighten the pinch bolt and your brakes should be nice and tight, but on v brakes, instead of tightening it until it closes the gap with the rim, tighten until you can clearly move the wheel without scraping the brakes, and adjust until you have it just right, this will take many attempts to get right.

  • Is it normal that this adjusting has to be done once a week?

Because my brakes loose braking strength really quickly!

  • Very good instructional video. :)

  • I adjusted my v-brakes according to your instructions and they work perfectly. Thanks a lot - 5* rating!

  • I have checked out ALL the bike videos on here and find that this guys approach to bikes is the best. His Brake setup is first class. His rear gear setup as well.

  • Thanks. I did exactly what was in the video but something strange has happened as when I squeeze the brake lever, sometimes there's no smooth return when I let go of it and I noticed the right side of the V-brake staying close to the wheel and it maintains breaking on it. The cable also does not have a smooth movement as I do this.

    Any ideas why this happens?

  • You must adjust caliper spring by tightening or loosening small screw on the lower left or right side of the brake. In your case, you should tighten screw in the right side, or loosen the one on the other side. Try that and you will see how the calipers move to the side you 're tightining... And also, if you still got some softnes in your breaking, probably your housing are longer than it should, or your cables are ready for replacment...

  • this. when i first re-adjusted my brakes one side was hitting the wheel and the other one was alot off. by adjusting the small screws you can balance out the sides. i think it should be in the video too

  • @apoq The same is happening to me. Could you find a solution?

  • Thanks, very clear instructions

  • very clear instructions. thanks so much.

  • thanks that worked great.

  • Thanks for that, now i'm going for a ride.
