OMG it doesn't work for Left 4 Dead 2, i tried exactly how you did, and yes i kiled 5,699 zombies but on steam it only said i killed 200 because that is how many i killed WITHOUT pipe bomb, so if the pipe bomb is thrown when sv_cheats 1 is on, the pipe bomb is cheated so won't count. i'll just have to stick with normal killing, :( worth a try though

If your computer can handle it without lag then changing the "350" in the z_common_limit 350 command to a high value should make it happen faster.

Correction; Dead Rising's achievement was 53,594 (the population of the games town), Left 4 Dead purposely made their achievement one kill higher just to 1-UP Dead rising.

Just so you guys know, they patched the game so that if you type in "sv_cheats 1" into the console, achievements are automatically disabled even if you turn them off later.

@scarface4724 Go to the finally of no mercy. kill all the bots( in expert) then go out side and w8 tell a boomer spawns.. run back to the safe room and close the door. stand in front of the door directly in the middle the boomer should puke on you..tape down the punch key and leave your game on for as long as it takes.. usually about 5 hours.

You can expect to kill about 1000 zombies on expert. Expert takes about an hour at least to do a campaign. That means, best case scenario, 53 hours of nothing but shooting zombies. Fun, but not my cup of "stay up all night" tea. =P

After enabling the console on the options, exit the game. In the steam, open L4D properties, on his shortcut, and press "Set launch options", on that little window add this comand:

-console

Save everything. When you start L4D the console window should pop up in the main menu, you have to use it to bind a key to toggle it on and off, otherwise it will just pop open at startup.

Use this command on the console:

bind "F12" "toggleconsole"

this may not be as easy but i got Zombie Genocidest achievement by doing expert mode on the xbox 360 if you dont have a pc, see it's a good stragety to do you get lots of practice and lots of kills cuz it's expert it may take some time but i usually got like 2000 or more kills cuz i was always goofing around on it cuz it no challenge to me it's like normal

Personally, I'm sick of people being all high, mighty, and moral. This exploit was for pure fun. Achievements mean nothing. If they gave you special abilities in the game, then of course it's 'cheating'.

And I can't speak for you, but finding these types of exploits was fun for me, so nyah. =)

Secondly, the video description to the right describes the commands used to kill NPC's. Please read it, that why I wrote it. Also note that L4D2 might be different.

Thirdly, Google is your friend. This can be easily answered with a quick Google search.

I think Valve fixed this. It now disables achievements as soon as you start cheats in a session of the game. So when you turn cheats on, you can't get achievements for the rest of the time you're playing the whole game. Or at least that's how things are for me :(

Not really. Core 2 Duo @ 2.66GHz, GeForce 8800GT. 4GB Ram. HDD set up in a RAID0 array. Pretty medium range compared with today's top end.

It should be noted that I record at 30FPS, and I do hit slow-downs every now and then.

I also record to an external HDD via 3Gb/s eSATA, so I don't have to put up with HDD read/write on my main HDD's.
