M AUDIO. WILL THIS INTERFACE WORK WITH MY D.W.A? IM PLANNING TO UPGRADE TO THIS SPECIFIC MODEL BUT I DONT KNOW IF IT WOULD WORK PROPERLY WITH MY "FL STUDIO 10" WOULD BE GREATTT IF YOU COULD REPLY BACK!!!
Hello, I'm looking to purchase the M Audio Fast track this month. I have Shure Drum mics but with XLR cables. I was checking the Rear view picture and I saw that I need different cables for the mic/input on the board. I couldn't find the speaker cables with XLR from the other end .. So my question is: What Cables do I need to record my drums , avoiding TS jacks ? Also is this device compatible with windows 7 ? thank you
oh dear M-audio, I've given up on your lame support site, my late 2008 unibody macbook doesn't want to keep your interface stable. Neither you or apple take responsibility. Why do you sell such bad products?
@triviummusician if you set your daw to low buffer you won't have all round trip latency, if you monitor from the hardware you have 0 latency. I'd recommend buying something else than maudio's. Every day it makes less sense to buy them. Bad products just for the software.
what does the cable that yo screw called MIDI s/pdif for!??? dont know waht to do with it!! and it has like three cables atttached to it!! dont know what to doo.SUGGESTIONS PLEASE!
MIDI is for recording events with a controller. If you don't know what it is, don't worry about it. That means you won't be needing it. You DO NOT have to connect anything to it to be able to record or monitor.
ok, ive looked into this and i was thinking of getting 2 of these instead of getting an m-audio Profire 2626. Since you cant daisy chain this piece of equipment, i was wondering if you could run 2 of these at the same time (for 16 simultaneous) into my macbook pro.
Hi Everyone! Can somebody explain the 8 do 16 inputs expantion on m audio fast track? Does the mix that I do in the audio interface control panel, afects the mix that I'm doing in pro tools? It is Like i'm mixing in too diferent software? Please help! Thanks
It's just routing your software returns (what coming out of Pro Tools) to the hardware outs as well as the inputs on the device to your hardware outs. For example, you can route channel 1 and 2 of the interface to come out of output 5 and 6 and simultaneously route software outs to the same out put. Hope I explained well enough.
hi. i got one...but can u tell me why the inputs are so very low gain...i mean, when i plug my guitar, to record in protools m-audio, i have to put all the level button input?--how can i fix this situation? thanks.!
In looking at the specs there should be 50+dB of gain available for the front instrument inputs which should be more than enough for a guitar. It looks like the Mic/Instrument button needs to be pushed IN, and make sure the knob isn't pulled out engaging the 20dB pad.
I own an Ultra 8R and use it in my studio with ProTool M-Powered. I'd have to say this device is pretty sweet! and I love the fact it's rackable. USB 2.0 is faster than Firewire by like 80mbps on the top end (in theory). That's bits not bytes so know the difference. I recommend it for the price. around $499.
It's a great price for what it's giving. The Presonus I got cost $700 and I returned it ddue to the firewire problems. I'm thinking of getting this one as finally one with USB! MS has issues with firewire and you have to have a TI firewire card or else it bugs. Finally we get something with USB 2.0 here

What is the purpose of the 2 front panel "1/4" inputs, if you have 8 in the back???
Also, can you record 8 simultaneous tracks with cubase?

@CharbelSalem You can plug XlR cables into the back....
VonCarnstein 1 year ago
@CharbelSalem The inputs on the right of the back of the hardware can take XLR cables in to them.

does this product come with any software? or do you have to buy that seperate?
backtothebeat4 1 year ago
@backtothebeat4 It comes with dinosaur Ableton Live 6 and a worthless driver disk that won't work for your mac! :) don't buy this ;)
daneeehhhh 1 year ago
probably a stupid question but, does anyone know if i could use two of these at the same time???
ChrisSworddrummer 1 year ago
@ChrisSworddrummer no
Justinjaro 1 year ago
@ChrisSworddrummer
no you can't, you are limited to 8 inputs because if you use spdif, it deactivates analog inputs 7 and 8. No a-dat so no way of expanding :(

anyone know if theres much latency on this guy?
triviummusician 1 year ago
@triviummusician it depends on what your playback buffer rate is on your daw

Umm, does this come with xlr cables? Or no just thr power cable?
JessicaBreathsMusic 2 years ago
it just comes with powercables. It doesn't come with a mic bundle so it wouldn't make sense if it had XLR cables. It sure would be nice though

what software were they using with this?

if you have a decent amp, i recommend micing that up instead of using DI

this looks awesome, but will having a faderport (usb) connecting at the same time affect the 8R? If not, I am getting ONE
BLSooo1 3 years ago
It shouldnt be a problem. The faderport is just a USB control surface and doesnt interact with the 8R.

2.0 usb i have to get my drivers updated

The Fast Track Ultra is a USB 2.0 device. It is not possible to run it in USB 1.1 mode or as a class compliant device.
