  • Well I just came across this vid today and saw that it was a few years old. I just wanted to say how shocked I am that Kayla listened so well and was only a PUP! People say they are so hard to train but WOW! I have wanted a husky for many years now, and have become so discouraged pay all they nagative things people say about Huskys. I feel hopefull now and less intimidated. I also wanted to ask if Kayla is still that well behaved till this day?

  • @OrchidNight1

Kayla is very well behaved today. I can even semi-trust her off leash now. She'll listen and stay close, though if there's another dog somewhere she might forget for a bit.

  • very nice, u should check out my video of my german shepherd, im getting a husky today :) im looking forward of getting him already and training him :) are they same as intelligent as a german shepherd? ill post a video so u could check my husky puppy :D

  • Wow she is so smart! That is awesome! Good job :)

  • Geez, this must have taken ages, given how stubborn huskies can get. How did you do it? I wanna get a husky of my own someday.

  • @ghfdfhfdndxhcg

actually this only took about 10 minutes =)

husky's are super smart... they just need a reason to do the things you ask. in this case, it's her yummy food

  • @aminalcwakerz Okay, cool.

  • @aminalcwakerz Awesome, by the way, that's literally the most beautiful husky I've ever seen. You're so fortunate.

  • huskys rule dudes yea man holly jolly hockey sticks

  • how can I train my husky not to dig in my yard?? He is 5 months old and he is always destroying my mom's plants, and she is starting to hit him with a belt =S

I take him to run two t imes a day, and spend almost all my time taking care of him, but when he is alone on the yard for 10 minutes he makes a mess

  • I am so amazed with your adorable fluff ball! I can't get over how well she is trained, especially at her age. You deserve a medal, or something, for your diligence and hard work. But I would have to guess Kayla's respect and obedience is enough gratitude...it would be for me. :) BTW, I posted some of my ideas and advice that worked for me on some of the questions below. I know the questions are old, but I thought maybe someone who is reading them for the first time might learn something.

  • my name is Kayla, I am so happy to know that there is a husky named the same as me

  • OMG I LOVE HUSKIES

  • the cats like, "oo whats that?"

  • We have an appointment with a dog trainer on Monday, but do you have any tips on puppy play-biting? Our husky is three months old and is constantly play-biting. I've been saying a loud and firm "No!" and ignoring her (like my vet said), but so far it's not working that well. I know that puppies play-bite, but it really hurts sometimes. Thanks!

  • @Tara2372

This may sound a bit cruel to some, but I promise it's not:

When your puppy play bites, push your fist into her mouth gently. Shove it in there and it'll make it uncomfortable. She'll quickly pull back and stop. Repeat the process and soon enough she'll learn that it's not fun!

  • @aminalcwakerz Thanks so much!! I will give it a try!!

  • @aminalcwakerz .. u r rght.. thats wat i did and so many of my frnz .. it always wrks but i didnt know others do it too:P

  • @Tara2372 Also, what I did was put my finger down the back of his throat every time he play bit. I didn't do it harshly, just enough to engage the gag reflex. After a while he/she shouldn't want to bite anymore.

  • @Tara2372 shoving fist into dogs pointy mouth shounds painful to human too lol

  • Your really good at training that dog.

  • is very nice your kitten

  • does she always "jump" to the floor when you tell her "down"? I saw that she did that as a puppy..just wondering if that stuck?

  • @SnowMonkeyCo

She still does sometimes when she's excited =P

  • @SnowMonkeyCo My husky would 'jump' to the floor when ever we told him to lay down and he was excited. He did it up until he passed earlier this year and he was 10. I sure do miss him.

  • How did you teach "wait" so fast? Mine is 3 months old and she sits, speaks, shakes, sits, and jumps up when I say "up". She goes berserk for food though, I try to leash her and tell her to sit and wait and she will , but not un attended and not leashed lol!

  • wow, how did you get him trained that well at the start?

could you do a video where you talk us through it please?

I haven't got a husky, not allowed but when i can afford one i'd love one :) x

  • howl ong did it take you to train her when did you start?

  • AHAH Ur Cat Is Curious That Is Amazing That U Can Get Ur Husky To Wait For The Food Lol

  • theres a cat; lol

  • That's amazing, husky's never usually listen to anything! Their really head strong!! We're having a pup on saturday, you'll have you leave me a few tips xxx

  • omg how did you get her to wait?!?! i can't get my dog to do that :( and ur husky's not chasing ur cat either lol thats an accomplishment

  • Woah cool! I've got a grey and white cat just like that... And a husky. I got the dog as a rescue and she has some fear issues I'm working on.. I'll get a video up as soon as she gets a little more balanced.

  • awesome husky u got there ^^

  • wonderful job. we really need to work with our 12 week old, i would love for him to be trained like this. I think he may be a wooly husky too :)

it's funny because lexy is my second dog but i never fell in love to dogs like i love lexy....

Missing my bestfriend and adoreable husky

  • Huskys are wonderful dogs. Mine just turned 2 this year and i got her when she was 12 weeks old. I named her Cassie and shes like my best friend.

  • im getting a husky for my 12 year old son got any training tips

  • I'm having a heck of a time training my husky she will sit and eventually she will lay down however when i go for the treat bag to get the treats good luck keeping her off you do you guys recommend starting the training on a leash so she can't run away if she looses interest or to keep her from joining you up above.

  • I love your puppy videos. I'm getting a husky soon!

and I see the cat is back trying to get in on the fun here! lol :P

  • thanks.. i will try...anyways what kind of treats is that?

  • Natural balance sausage logs. You can buy them at petco, or almost any other pet store. They look like sausage and you'll have to cut them up to small sizes. They come in lamb, beef and I believe chicken. It smells really really good, and it's a very healthy treat compared to the others on the market.

  • ur Husky is awesome, how did u do that? we jud have a Husky she is almost 3 mos old... I just teached her today about the SIT and she did ..but when I command her to Lay, she won't...... can you give me any tips ? I knew she is so smart dog ...thanks..

  • lure her down with treats by putting the treat to her nose, and make an "L" shape to the floor, and then towards you. if she takes a step forward with her paw, praise her and give her a treat. Keep doing it and increase the distance as you go.

  • @cutielouisse Make sure that you are training them to lay down when they are in the sit position, it's easier for them to lay down that way.

  • the cat jelous ^^

  • how old was she when you got her?

  • 2 months

  • i wish i could make my dog "wait" like that.

  • ur husky is awesome.

I have a 4 month husky but she is so stubborn and dominant.when I try to teach her heeling she always puls.

  • try a gentle leader.

when she pulls, stop in your tracks and make her sit next to you. take a step forward, and if she lunges stop again. it'll take a long time to get a few feet, but keep at it and keep the sessions to about 30 minutes. The first day you'll probably only get a few feet. treats work well to get his/her attention focused on you instead of the ground

  • @SedatedPunk What I did was make sure I was holding the leash tight so my pup was standing right next to me. Then I would slowly start to walk. Every time he started to get ahead of me I would yank his collar (make sure his collar is below his jaw and above his throat so he doesn't choke) just enough to get his attention and he would slow down. At the same time I yanked the leash I would make a sound...sort of like shhht (that looks bad in writing lol) or pffft, what ever is easier for you...

  • @SedatedPunk (Continued) After a while I wouldn't have to yank at all. All I would have to do is make the sound and he would either slow down and come back to my side or stop and wait for me. Make sure you consistantly only have him heel on either your left or right side so he doesn't get confused. I read somewhere that one side was better than the other, but I honestly can't remember which one it is.

  • good puppie

  • do u find it hard to train your husky or are they not as bad as everyone says

  • It really depends on the individual pup. We got really lucky with Kayla. Try to pick one that's toward the bottom of the litter (not as dominant) Kayla was super shy when we first got her, and now she's super outgoing. You must train young though. Kayla's a teenager now and she's starting to rebel. Sometimes she listens, sometimes she doesn't. Just try to keep consistent and keep reinforcing cuz they test you!

  • how was it introducing your husky pup to your cat?

im getting one soon n have a 13 year old cat...n i've heard it can be difficult for them to get along?

  • Kayla wants to play, but Milo the cat just wants to be left alone. He's not a very playful cat. haha. Every once in a while though, they'd play well together. As long as the husky grows up with the cat, they can get along.

  • AWESUM!!!! My puppy (Zayna) is now 6 weeks old and i cannot wait to start her training!!!! Good Job!

  • Cody (our dog) is so.. not obediant.

  • one of the biggest problems with husky is recall. i've seen many dogs at the park that refuse to go home. However, Kayla comes whenever we call her. The trick to that is to call her, every 10 min or so, and have her come to you, pet her for a few seconds, then say "go play!" and let her go again. That way, she knows that if she comes to you, it doesn't always mean 'go home'.

  • @aminalcwakerz I completely agree with this. Recall (having your husky come to you when you call him) is very hard because they are a stubborn breed and they like to run (and dig) when they are off leash. In fact, for the most part my baby wouldn't do some of his tricks if I didn't have a treat. He figured that he wasn't going to work for anything if he wasn't going to get a reward. Some people would call him stupid, but if you really think about it, it's really smart.

  • hey do you have any other husky training tips? :)

  • a good consistent schedule is really important for training. kayla loves working for her food (regular feeding) I also do mini lessons throughout the day, like telling her to sit while I get up to go do something really quick. It keeps things interesting. I also take her out to the dog park or get her to spend as much energy as possible during the day, so she's less hyper. The trick is to tire them out =)

  • man, that is one smart dog! at least you get yours to listen. my are so dang stubborn exspecially the older one. i luv how the cat walks up like its getting food. reminds me of my cat.

  • i meant "mine". stupid typos :D

  • she's a fluffy one. mine's about the same age, very smart dogs.

  • how did u train her to wait and then take the food?

  • we would show her the food in our hands, then when she went for it, we'd tell her to wait, and close our hands to hide the food until she sits quietly and patiently. Start with a second of waiting or so, then gradually increase the time.

  • As for the one where we drop the food on the floor and tell her to wait, when she goes for the food, i just block her and make her sit down until I say its ok.

  • HOW DID YOU TRAIN HER SO WELL??

  • We hand feed her her regular meals everyday, twice a day. She has to work for her food. We're just very consistent and slowly build new things.

  • i love how the cat just strolls up and wants a treat too lol
