Amaizing!!! Well I was just watching videos before I buy a pedal and the ones I liked the most...well you manage to have them all !!! And I just have to ask you: If you only had a gibson 335 and a Fender DRR wich of these three pedals would you choose for a sound that goes from john scofield to larry carlton? 1) Analogman KOT 2) Rockbox boiling point or 3) Lovepedal Kalamazoo. Hope you can help me with these.
@elavationchild I agree. They had a ton of these at PGS for $350 and they sold out!? I was like WTF!?? I guess there are still a lot of people out there with a ton of cash in this recession, I am unfortunately not one of them. I guess I'll never know how great this pedal is because I have to be happy with my TS9 Clone.
@elavationchild obviously you do not know a quality pedal from a piece of crap cheap chinese made pedal, yea, thats what you get when you buy Freekish Blues pedals. He buys chinese pedals, mods, repaints them, and sells them for boutique. Read about the Freekish Blues controvery, maybe you will learn something and quit bashing people because they own and can afford quality pedals!
At $389--------way too expensive for what this does. Nice but not worth it . Way many other pedals including from Danelectro that blow this out of the water IMHO.
This pedal is so ridiculously overpriced. If they just put it in a generic box, sure, it wouldn't look as cool, but it at least would be somewhat affordable. Anybody who pays this much money for an overdrive is a sucker.
But I'll admit, it does sound fantastic. I really love the tone. But $350?!!?! Come on!
One of the better ODs I have ever heard, great pedal. Love to hear it with a Marshall. Thats for the demo, made me get my wallet out to try it with my amps.
hey man, could you do a rockbox vs OCD? I have a few overdrives, Lovepedal Eternity, BB Preamp, FD2, OCD. Don't know if this is something I should spring for at some point or not...
@guitarsteve6190 the rockbox would kick your OCD, Eternity and FD2 off your pedal board. But keeping that BB pre amp, as you can get some really great tones with the tone stacked.
@guitarsteve6190 the rockbox would kick your OCD, Eternity and FD2 off your pedal board. But keeping that BB pre amp, as you can get some really great tones with the two
definately the nicest looking pedal I have ever seen. great tone too. How much you guys think this would cost if they put in less effort on the looks?
If this looks like the pedal for you, and one is available, my best advice is to buy it immediately. Just got mine a couple weeks ago and it is amazingly versatile, responds better than any other pedal I have played to pick attack and changes to the volume knob, plus the bass boost switch on the left really beefs up my single coils on the old Nash Strat. This thing makes my 5E3 sound even better (which I didn't think was possible!) Plus I think we can all agree they look badass.
Love to see this up with a Signa Drive In my option one of the best pedals for the money). Currently using Signa Drive and a Analogman KOT for my overdrives. But been thinking of getting one of these.
Well, I just picked up one of these a few days ago. I was using an Abunai 2, a $200 TS- derivative that is widely considered among the best TS style pedals, and this thing ate it alive. Literally ruined the Abunai for me. It was my main overdrive, and now it looks like it'll have to be used for a periodical change of pace.
It's a great pedal, I only use the high gain mode on it presently, but if you like Marshall, this covers the best of them... of course, I have a rectified amp for JTM45 tones as well...
For what it's worth, this pedal had has great flexibilty, and you can nail some pretty awesome tones. It's the first OD / Boost I've ever owned that has made tone snobs look twice (not that it matters). Expensive? YES. Last OD pedal you'll ever own? Quite possibly. Using it with a vintage BFDR or a Maz 38 is quite a treat!
@Ghop7577 Ive had the kanji and A/B it with this. Kanji is cool but voiced completely different- doesnt let as much of your natural tone through. both sound great, but i sent back the kanji.
@Ghop7577 Actually the K9 is what I compared to as well. Its a kanji with a few different clipping options. Definitely not as transparent- well, to my ears at least.
Gearmandude. In your opinion is the boiling point better than the Zendrive. I have the Zen and i want to pull the trigger on the Boiling Point but not if they are almost the same, ya know. Thanks again.
It is better than all of the other pedals ive used... and i have tried a lot of pedals! totally worth the money, even joe bonamassa uses it now! I use it with a ts808hw and it rocks my lonestar!!!!!!!!!!!
VERY Sweet OD pedal...the transparency of the overdrive is uber-sexy! The full character of your guitar/string attack comes right through...and I'm sure that's what you REALLY want from an OD.
Now, $350.....a bit steep, Yes...but I agree w a previous comment...this is a pedal you would keep FOR LIFE!
I however, am quite pleased w my OCD>Keeley BD2 OD setup. Might have to work between 2 pedals...but my tone is where I want it!
It would be cool if they skipped the paint job and sold it for half price like zvex did with the fuzz factory. I'm not sure why a pedal builder would think people would want to pay so much for the paint. to each his own I guess.
This pedal sounds great and I believe it competes with my Landgraff Mo'D and Dynamic Overdrive, BUT....I do not believe this pedal is worth near 400.00. I only paid 185.00 for my Landgraffs and have seen them sell for 700+. I think Rockbox is a blatent RIP on Landgraff's stuff. When you do another video...PLEASE do an A/B with a Landgraff....same setup as in this video....Love your stuff GMD!! Brad
I mean, its cool and everything, I mean really...but at this price I could throw down an extra 50 bucks and pick up a Joe Meek GBq which is three times more pedal or for nearly 100.00 less I could get a Foxrox ZIM which simply the most versatile box around and have enough left over to buy another, different 'ZIMCard' for yet more versatility. Yeah, its cool, just not at that price...
You always make a nice vid, but this pedal is just ok. No prob with the price, guys that put these things out gotta make some money back. Pedals that are produced at giant production plants by machines along side of hundreds of other products are dirt cheap for that reason.
Anyway, someone out there needs to step it up and be the Beatles of guitar pedals. I just see too much of the same thing all the time.
Hey, I've got an idea, how about an amazing new clean sound!
*facepalm* Now it's a copy of a Landgraff. Yesterday it was a copy of a Tube Screamer.
I've owned many ODs and whether the circuits are similar doesn't mean crap. I craftsmen tweaks his different and that's what makes it special. Landgraff is an outstanding pedal too, no dissing it. Why folks get partisan over a fucking piece of metal with circuits inside is beyond stupid.
"why people would pay this much for a single overdrive reminds me of landgraffs... "
Simple, if it does what you want and will probably never sell it it sure is.
I remember paying $250 for a delay I kept for ten years and folks commenting about how crazy I was to pay that much. Then I turned around a few years ago and sold my Aqua Puss for $700. :) Of course only after I found something I liked better. ;)
Hey look...some asshole is copying John Landgraff AGAIN....without success...I would A/B every pedal GEARMANDUDE interviewed against a Mo "D" or D.O. and use Landgraff as the TOP pedal to compare this imitations in every video. Nothing "Sounds Perfect" as the Landgraff stuff. Everyone has this pedal problem of not wanting to pay more than 100.00 dollars for a pedal, but i CAN promise you...YOU will KNOW where YOUR money is spent with a LANDGRAFF.
Hmmm....looks suspiciously like a Landgraff. They completely lifted the look/feel almost exactly. I guess there's something to be said for artistry and originality.
Landgraff is a better pedal IMO, and John is a great guy to deal with
$350 for an overdrive? Seriously? I've got a modded TS7 that cost me a grand total of $85 that I'd A/B against this any day, and at a gig, my pedal is probably the last one somebody's going to want to steal. Why bother stealing a $40 tube screamer? That's like stealing a bottle of Aquafina.
I have contemplated going the modded TS7 route. . . But my Abunai II is staying where it is. I also agree, this is a wonderful sounding box, but I'm just not hearing $350 dollars here. . .
@Twistchawa, do a search for TS7+ and you'll find a video by either tubescreamerheaven or supersonicmods (same video, same guy) showcasing a TS7 with a 17-point modification including a footswitch jack to toggle the TS9/Hot modes. The pedal sounds fantastic, and John's a great guy to deal with.

Pretty nice sounding box! I was going to buy one, but couldnt find one. Then discovered BJFe and cant imagine anything better. BP RB sounds great, but would want to try one with a return policy JIC. Not diggin the looks of the thing though.
Hey Gearmann, just wondering what music that was in the beginning of the video. Would it be possible if you could put in the artist and song name in the description of your videos?
I second that motion also try the cmatmods SUPER signa drive! I own one and its the best! I was suprized when i got it becuase its actually small for 2 pedlas in one!!!!! SUPER SIGNA DRIVE!!!!!!!!!
I wouldn't knock a Landgraff because they are great too but the RBBB is very fine indeed. What makes it stand out is every tone is stellar and there are hundreds available via a few tweaks. GMD shows that rather well in this vid. Well done GMD.
I find it funny that people complain or comment on the price. Yet we go out and spend money on pedals and sell them later to buy another. Why not just buy something that is incredible to begin with and have it for a "lifetime" because nothing compares to it. That way you have a few really good pedals and need nothing more.
Mmmmmm pretty pedal, sounds sweet, I still think a rothwell hellbender could give it a run for its money, it might not be as versatille as the rock box though.
Lots of complaints about the price. I agree, seems expensive, but many of the best pedals are fairly pricey...Wampler's stuff is my personal favorite and most of it is in the $200 range.
THese pedals are freakin amazing. Theyre expensive as hell though. THis is coming from someone that just paid $400 for a rams head muff and $200 for a zen drive.

G-Man : Do you like this pedal better than the Landgraff for the money?

Lots of complaints about the price. I agree, seems expensive, but many of the best pedals are fairly pricey...Wampler's stuff is my personal favorite and most of it is in the $200 range.

Sounds incredible! But $400? No thanks!

To be honest, it doesn't sound like a $350 pedal.

Not only is this arguably the best overdrive pedal on the market, but the paint scheme you got makes me think of smores.

Ever since I saw PGS demo this, I've been waiting for GMD to demo it to see if it was really as good as PGS said. It definitely looks cool...
it sounds GREAT but I don't have the money (even if it is worth it)

best overdrive ive heard in a minute, actually deserves its "hype"
PlayaDontHate24 1 year ago
under normal circumstances I'd recoil at the thought of spending $350 on an overdrive pedal...that's "Normal" circumstances.
BUT
Looking into my crystal balls, I can see alot of people sayin "I wish I bought one of these when they were ONLY $350!"
(either that or wait till Danelectro copies it)

THese pedals are freakin amazing. Theyre expensive as hell though. THis is coming from someone that just paid $400 for a rams head muff and $200 for a zen drive.
