  • Is it just me or does the interviewer sound like Marvin the Martian with an Australian accent?

  • Fuck you Peter Garret spose i entered this hoping for a leader , now i understand you are just the same as all the peeps you stood against, i am having real trouble listening to the true REAL messages you used to export, its clear you have sold out, and now i give up. thanks pete coz of u i have given up. u r really "good for OZ"???? man u a dickhead...now i realize for following u im too....

  • Peter Garret wouldn't know shit form clay and he's a politician.. Should have lost his job after the insulation scheme

  • The R'n'R hall of fame should be next...not that they would really care...

  • GARRET... YOU SUCK

  • the hills have eyes 3

  • How tall is Peter Garrett? The interviewer looks like a midget. :)

  • Oh JoHn not JOn! :/

  • WAIT???? this isnt jon foreman from switchfoot!!!!!

  • I would like to see a shot gun let off in his face.

  • God Bless the Aussies! Thanks for helping, sincerely, for the war against terrisiom.

  • He's a sellout bastard. Hes the minister for the environment for fucks sake, you dont hink he could do anything?

  • he could eat the him!! Garret is so tall :D

  • America needs to stop being the World Police. I support my country, but we need to concentrate on our own problems and not force what doesn't work on other countries. Good for Pete. Very good man. God Bless you,Sir.

  • No he didn't reality, caught up with him. No one person can effect change. He is now working on the inside to effect change.

  • Correct. I wish people would understand that it takes years to become a big voice in Politics. Pete has to work quietly and efficiently. Bide his time. Was great to see The Oils perform last week in melbourne. They went off.

  • Wow. Garrett is brilliant, and I'm pretty impressed with that John Foreman guy, too. He asked intelligent, insightful questions and let his guest give long, detailed answers. He'd never make it on American TV.

  • "I'm not gonna sell my soul" comes to mind..... great band, Peter has used his fame for good compared to other famous people.

  • Still love his music, still love his ACF work, still holding on for him to make his mark in Australian politics.

I do not envy his position for a second, following on from 11 years of Coalition environmental vandalism, facing more public scrutiny than any environment minister ever has. If he only 'sells out' on half the issues I will be happy as he will have a hell of a job trying to stick to the other half.

  • why Do Australians get the right to protest when Americans get gassed and arrested?

  • do it more, then it works

  • Easy to look back today and see that Garrett is just dead wrong here about Iraq... Iraq is becoming a free, functioning democracy. The terrorists are on the way out.... oh well, I do miss Midnight Oil as they were back in the day...

  • Once uninformed, always uninformed. Iraq killed how many on Christmas Day? It will never be a democracy. it isn't in their hard-wire no matter how many time Americans try to drill it into their heads. Like the missionaries before them, the Americans should keep masturbating to their thoughts instead of trying to impose them on others.

  • As an American, I agree with you. However, I would like to point out that many millions of Americans also agree with you, but our corporate-owned media has failed us in not only establishing a global community of peace, but has failed its own citizens. Xenophobia, no matter where it comes from, can be part of a "slippery slope" that can ultimately lead to jingoism, so in a sense, your comment is a contradictory one. Peace requires effort, not just in our actions, but in our words. Peace to you.

  • fOR THE NEGITINE COMMENTERS ...Wake up world`. YOUR Conscience -if it isn't bleating (like a sheep) is heard , and deads are done. tall poppy syndrome cynics serve Satan, or is it the dark emperor (star wars eg) or is it your FEAR. see your destiny ausies. listen to your conscience near your heart and .........BEeeeeeee, 

  • He has already one portfolio taken away from him, keep off the drugs when your in a rock group weird guy.

  • I love ACDC!

  • Im so amused over the bald guy :)

  • i think most of us would agree..

we would rather have him making music.

  • Australia doesn't hope Japan for friendly relations.

    The symbol is him.

    He does "Only self-insistence".

    foolish.

He is consequentially disregarded in Japan.

  • "Disregarded in Japan", eh? Does anyone really care what the whale-eaters think of Peter Garrett? Of course they ignore anyone who cares about the environment, don't they? How many endangered species have you eaten today?

  • Is the reason necessary?

"A man who became bald in the radioactivity" is a good joke!

Moreover, the Minister of the Environment!!! XD

  • Peter Garrett is hypocrite

    Musicality is low

  • mm u people should consider urself lucky to have such a fair government..u only have to take one look at Uganda.. u die there. Here if u get in trouble with the government u might get a centrelink fine, thats if u cant explain ur way out of it..im not trying to be angry just trying to wake u up.

  • here's one american who agrees the iraq war was 100% illegal.

  • fire up civil wheels, very easy to sit back and criticise a bloke that had dedicated his life to environmental development in this great country. must have been easy for him giving up roles like president of the acf to start all over again in parliament where everyone is out to get him

  • You'd think different if you were at the Kingsford-Smith candidates forum. He not only ignored the issue of Iraq, but solidarised himself with plans for Bush's next war on Iran. Check this out:

  • He is a baldy headed sellout, dancin like a spastic for over 20 years singing save the trees and now he says its ok to have a pulp mill in Tassie, just another lying flip flopping politition that has sold out for personal gain, i will burn any oils cds i have left,Pete

  • I can understand your feelings but I think the jury is still out on Garrett..let's see what happens if Labor wins. Sometimes you have to say certain things just to get into power..(the jocular comment at the airport lounge may have an element of truth)..anything to get someone as evil as Howard out of power..give him the benefit for now..wait 12 months, and remember he's not in politics for the money..he'd be a lot better off playing 'oils' concerts, so he's got that on his side.

  • At least he's honest....

  • Peter Garrett....What hypocrite!!

  • wow this dude has a funny voice, the host of the show not Garrett

  • he sounds like a gay kermit the frog lol!!

  • Tetragammaton22: I'm sure you meant no offense with this comment, but it is offensive. Even when using humor, it is not acceptable to generalize a group of people with stereotypes. It is no different than if I were to write "he sounds like a black kermit the frog lol!!" because we know that would be improper.

  • i made that comment like a year ago... jeeze... im pretty sure ive moved on lol...

  • That's the beauty of YouTube. Your comments will remain for as long as the video does. I didn't write that just for your sake, but for anyone who might think it's acceptable. It's important to always challenge ideas which may be harmful. You do own a certain responsibility, even a year later.

  • You GO WCDUKE! Tell it like it is!!

  • What ever happened to free speech?

  • I encourage freedom of speech. It is something I deeply respect and value. However, there are words that are inappropriate or just wrong. I'm exercising my freedom of speech in saying so, thank you.

  • That's correct, you are exercising your free speech when you say that, and I totally agree with that. I think it's great. And I'm exercising my free speech when I say that your last comment was stupid and contradicting, if you by "wrong" you mean that he should not be allowed to say it. Or do you mean you just think he should refrain from saying it? I would agree with that. Except for that he totally does sound like a gay kermit!

  • Hm... not sure what we're really debating here. Of course he should be allowed to say it, and you are allowed to feel and say that my comment was stupid and contradicting. I think you're jumping to conclusions without asking for a clarification from me, but that's your right too. There are many things people feel and say/write that you and I would both disagree with. Furthermore, there is some speech that is considered dangerous. I'm not implying that this is, I'm just making a broader point.

  • JON foreman-why deos every1 call him john?? oh well... :)

  • And where is the piece with Jon Foreman?

  • where's part 2??????????????with jon?????

  • It is Jon Foreman.. (not with an H!)..sorry.. I need to say that.. thanks for posting it!

  • Where's part 2?

  • Garrett is a legend - Garrett for PM!

  • From a 'winging pom'. Mr Garrett - you are an inspiration! Also, if only all interviewers were as magnaminous as this fella. Why do we have to endure our brainless, patsies in the UK?

  • Garret is the sorriest example of a turncoat in history. You poms can have him if you like.

  • Yes po-leesse (as Kath & Kim, God bless 'em, would say)By the way tropicalwino, can i, as a winging pom thank your country for Midnight Oil and Kath & Kim, amongst others. I'm sure there are better examples of Aussie culture, but for the 'mainstream', they are pretty good to captivate and inspire a 'winging pom'. Can you aussies tell me why he is a "turncoat" or "hypocript". He seems to be a rational, pragmatic and honest speaker - am i that easily fooled?

  • He used to represent the views of the average Aussie in terms of environmental protection, social conscience etc. He now sounds like a new-age political puppet. His arguments are just a modern version of the same shit every other politician says. He made more impact as an entertainer. As for Kath & Kim ... please take them.

  • Good points - especially the point about his impact as an entertainer. I was hoping to find out that Mr Garrett was like an australian version of George Galloway or Tony Benn in the UK. Mores the pity!

  • Yes I found John Forman's show to be quite good - ten would do well to bring it back (just wait till the heat from Matthew Newton dies down I guess!)

  • member for kingsford smith, that is all we hear from the speaker, thanks peter

  • good interview

  • Interesting interview - John Foreman is superb, and Peter Garrett is an absolute legend. Thanks for posting it!
