Peter Jackson really deserved this Oscar and his speech is just touching. He really did a great job with the trilogy. It has been nearly ten years but the movies never get old. Now we're just waiting for him to finish the prequels of this epic trilogy. See you on December 14th!
wow, they're so civilized when they clap. usually, when people see their favorite person/etc. on the screen, they clap loudly, whistle, all kinds of stuff
@xValanirX Well, I wouldn't say that. Jackson did an incredible job tackling the largest project the film industry has ever seen. But he couldn't have made "Lost in Translation" or "City of God." They are all talented and they all have their own distinct style.
Peter Jackson, really great wonderful director and man, my big inspiration. He is one of the great directors who inspired me to become director myself.
@ole78aol That happens most of the time-but in 1999 Spielberg won best director for saving private Ryan but best picture went to Shakespeare in love-so there are a couple of exceptions.

I somehow think Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer took a bigger risk with “2001: A Space Odyssey”. Unlike “The Lord of the Rings”, that film did not have an already built-in fanbase.
2012 will certainly be an interesting year. We've got Pixar's Brave, The Dark Knight Rises, The Avengers movie (the hype alone is enough to get us to notice), the Hobbit: There and Back Again, the Amazing Spiderman, Ridley Scott's Prometheus, Quentin Tarantino's Django Unchained, and I think the Dark Tower is going to get a movie next year as well.
And so long as the world doesn't end by then, then we can hope we can see all of these directors nominated once again or for the first time.
oh, ok so...i guess, in 2009 he was slimmer....okay, i had it backwards lol i feel emberassed now cuz i commented wrongly on many videos....love u peter!
@nafpaktos1988 Have you seen the lord of the rings? lol, ok, that's an unfair question. They're both very good movies, and I bet it was a hard choice. But still, I gotta go with Lord of the Rings. Awesome films, all 3 of them. And there's so many ways in which one bad director could've wrecked the amazing stories by Tolkien. And instead we got Peter Jackson, and he made it the most succesful trilogy of all time.
@1Minute60Seconds Inception was one film whereas lotr was three, and lotr was also much better than inception and most other films. That's why Jackson was nominated and won. Although Nolan should have been nominated-inception was brilliant.

Lord of the Rings is awesome filmmaking at its finest! Thank you Peter Jackson! You are a very talented director, and yes, I did like The Lovely Bones.
A very humble speech from a great director. Respect to his parents who spotted his talent early and bought him a SUPER8 camera. All that filming and hard-work from young age came into fruition at this very moment. One of the bravest visionaries of our time. Keep marching forward - Peter Jackson!
