@fatimachan ah, this is where we go into crazy ethnic politics. a lot of campuses we've been to have asian american organizations, and separate filipino american organizations. oftentimes they work together, but oftentimes they don't. so even if filipinos are considered APIA, we've seen situations where people assume that if you're filipino you only want to be part of the filipino orgs.

Good video! you shoudl've done a follow up though with more stimuli for them to respond to you, i.e for example walking up to them instead of past them in teh second run, and wearing something subtle that's a bit more chinese. I mean if the society's they were flyering were asian societies, and they figured you weren't (as its not that common for a chinese/black mix) naturaly they might not... but on so many instances even when you say you made eye contact they didn't - not a coincidence...
i have that same problem all the time. i'm 1/2 black, 1/2 japanese but most people think i'm filipino/samoan/hawaiin or mexican. it gets real old real fast. black people won't talk to me cuz they don't think i'm black and japanese people won't talk to me cuz they don't think i'm japanese and when people find out what i am it's like the biggest surprise in the world.

The only thing gettin to me about your video is when you're talking about people mistaking you for other races. I mean, I'm Korean, so people mistake me for other Asian ethnicites all the time. It's a problem if people start discriminating 'cause of what they think I am, but we can't get mad when people can't decipher our ethnicities.
