@Arbo3000 Hey man glad you like it! I use M-Audio Delta 44 to directly plug instruments/preamps into my computer, and use Sonar 8 Professional Edition to capture/edit the LIVE music. I use Propellerhead's Reason 4 along with an M-Audio 44 key MIDI keyboard (this is a synthesizer program with 2,400+ instruments that you control with the MIDI keyboard.) Lastly, i use Sony's Sound Forge Pro 10.0 to master the final song.
@Arbo3000 Sonar 8 and Sound Forge are very powerful Music editing software. I probably only use about 8% total of the actual amount of things they can do. You would find these programs in a professional studio. I have been working A LOT on EQ and Compression/Limiting Techniques and that is what these programs are for. Don't get overwhelmed, i have been building my studio for 6 years now, and you just learn a little at a time. GET REASON 4 first!! So much fun
