  • James Best of Dukes Of Hazzard, Sheriff Rosco P. Coltrane

  • The Guitarist was definitely Howard Roberts. If you look at the picking technique at around : 47 it is a circular type picking using Thumb and index finger. I believe this technique was invented by Howard Roberts. Barney Kessel used his elbow at a fast tempo and Herb Ellis used only his wrist when playing fast.. As Great as Barney and Herb were only Howard Roberts could play lines that way.

  • I love the face Andy makes around :42

  • damnnnnnnnn good ol' James Best

  • Good Cop vs Bad Cop.

  • Pretty cool to see Rosco P. Coltrane & Barney Fife in the same shot...

  • The close ups are of Herb Ellis Jazz guitar great. IF you watch the credits at the end he is credited. It is not a "cheap archtop" although correct that it would not sound like that. The name is obscured.

  • I never heard Herb wth chops like these, is it not Howard Roberts?

  • Herb Ellis is credited at the end of the episode. I have it on DVD and his name is in the credits. Herb Ellis could play.

  • I'll ask Herb and get back to you.

  • I'm pretty sure that is Herb at 0:22 in the Wanted poster on the wall. Probably wanted for copying Howard Roberts' playing style. Will ask him about it.

  • I watched the show last night where Jim first hooks up with bobby fleet and the band with a beat. they weren't near as careful about getting the fingering correct. much less the electric sounding hollow body lol

  • That's no actor, that's Roscoe P Coaltrain

  • @towelewacker You should hear him play "Giant Steps".

    kew kew kew kew kew!

  • The actor is not playing what you're hearing. The closeups are of a real guitarist but he's play- syncing to the playback of the original recording made with a solid body electric and amp. That cheap arch top would never sound like what you're hearing in this clip. This simulated scene inspired thousand to take up the guitar.

  • and andy isnt playing his martin. notice how careless he is when he lays it down. he would never do that with his old d-18
