@DARTHACATL - I came on this vid by accident but your comment illustrates a number of misconceptions about torture & terrorism. 1st - this documentary says torture is being used to extract confessions of involvement with terrorism. Signing a confession under torture makes terrorists only of the torturers - they are literally by definition using terror to achieve their aims. That means in this case the terrorists are - by definition - the police, Guardia Civil and government that guides them.
2nd - do you seriously think you can reduce evil by being evil? No, you are just adding to the sum total of evil in the world. 3rd - the behaviour of the police is creating 'terrorists' - it will simply increase the desire for revenge in tit-for-tat style. So what do you get? A vendetta at national level. 4th - such practices have NO PLACE in any society that calls itself civilized. 5th - tolerating such behaviour simply makes it more likely that we will one day 'be hoist with our own petard'
And finally, the kinds of torture listed - including simulated rape etc., show a deeply disturbed psychology among the practicioners - i.e the police and government that sponsor it - there is a real desire among these bullies to hurt people and I see something very demonic in that. The distinction between the 'terrorists' (eg ETA) and the forces of 'law and order' (the police) becomes blurred and neither can claim any moral high ground. Yes, we should 'deal with it' - by stamping it out!!
English police killed an innocent man some days ago, after the atentates of London killed another innocent man, but we don't say english police is a gang of murderers. Maybe this is true, maybe not, but you can't say that spanish police is like the spanish Inquisition, this is made by a guy politically interested in giving a bad image of Spain, you can discover it watching his other videos about Spain.
Torture is not rooted in Spain. Unfortunately, a few cases of torture occur, but they are not focused on ETA criminals and perpetrators are prosecuted. Torture is not more prevalent in Spain than it is in the UK or Germany.
ETA internal guidelines state that upon detention, ETA members should always claim that they were tortured/abused in order to trigger an investigation of these claims, delay legal actions against them, and stain the reputation of Spanish police forces.
I don't know if this story is true...but this documentary is quite bad they don't show any evidences at all only reproductions based on one person's testimony...
