Technically speaking, the new 2005-2006 verisons are GT-44s, where the "40" in "GT-40" designated the height of the roof above the ground . The new version is physically 4" wider.

The race version from the 60's was lower (hence the designation GT40 = 40 inches) a 427 CJ naturally aspirated not a 5.4 supercharged and had a tighter narrower cockpit and slightly different chassis. There is no way someone over 6 ft could fit into the original GT40 without removing a few vertebrae. Put the two cars together side by side and they are totally different animals.

@bigmanbigkid well captain obvious... vettte has compression close to 12:1 so its easy to have knocking. Now ram more air in a cylinder and you have a catastrophe. If you would use purpose built pistons that lower the compression ratio to around 8:1 you could turbocharge the engine.

The speed indicated at 1:19 (about 170mph) doesn't seem to go on par with the car on the right lane at 1:24. Run this a few times, if you have raced or gone beyond 140mph in a car (I have) you should be able to "feel" the MPH indicated does not match and even if you brake hard enough to match the speed of the car on the right lane which is definitely not going over 100mph and with practically no braking at all, he should have stormed right by that car. @bankstrb350 Actually no...it doesn't put out more than 1000 hp at the wheels. It has a bHP of 1000. Meaning after the tranny drags out a ton of power...it is most likely at 875-920hp realistically. And considering a heavily modded RX-7 R2 can do 0-60 in 2.85 seconds, handles just as well if not BETTER, and is lighter...yeah...you can easily put them on the same level. Obviously if the same RX-7 were stock it would be a different story. So who's the TOOLBOX now?
