  • it was great!!!!!!!

  • I assume you're a teacher. If I'm assuming correctly then you, of all people, should recognize that posting anything less than the best ASL that can be produced is just spreading negative stereotypes and isn't doing the language justice. I realize that you're students are probably proud of their accomplishments but imagine someone posting a video of poorly spoken English. Now imagine other people looking at it and learning bad English from it. Same kind of thing. Please, no more.

  • @ASLChic Yeah, like people posting videos of their children doing things like walking or talking. "Your child just started walking? Oh well, don't post a video because you will give other children an example of a poor way of walking..." NO. This is youtube, they're kids in a class, it's not like this video is being labeled as an instructional video or anything. ;P

  • Not bad, but the facial expression could use a lot of work...

  • i love asl me and my friend are learnig

  • my teacher is making us do this but im in ASL 1..!

  • my teacher is making us do this but im i ASL 1..!

  • that is an amazing music video what school do you guys go to? Love the facial expression

  • amazing!!

ms maler you iv never had you but i can tell you are a teacher who is one in a million!

your students are so lucky to have an educator like you!

    G-d Bless!!

  • that was good

  • that was very good, but you need to work on your facial expressions.

  • everyone needs to relax and be happy that these girls are trying to learn ASL. they are beginners everyone started somewhere.

  • Facial expressions need a lot of help. And it's not funny when you mess up...

  • I think people are saying to mouth because someone who is Deaf would most likely have a hard time understanding the underlying meaning. It's a really emotional song, but they don't show that and they even laugh at some parts that are supposed to be serious. But yah mouthing is a nooo nooo for people learning ASL. Many ppl who sign to communicate do though, bc it's easier to breach the gap in communication.

  • ithink its funny how people are saying to mouth, in ASL for Mrs. Thomasson and Ms. Marler teaches it too cause Mrs. T said they teach pretty much the same, but we learn to not mouth because it can get distracting and we get docked points for it. so ithink it was good :)

  • It IS good, the interpretation and the signing is good and fluid... the problem is that in order for it to be understood by someone who CANNOT hear the music or doesn't understand the song already... the words have to be shown through more than the hands.

ASL is a visual language, it's more than just moving your hands. Emotion and expression are VERY important when you're trying to communicate effectively in sign language.

  • Good choice of song!!

    very good signing !!

  • I love that song. You signed it pretty well, especially compared to 90% of the kids I see every day in my ASL 2 class. The translation was accurate. The only thing you could work on is more emotion, but with the music, it's fine cause I know what's going on. :) good job

  • Really poor. Need to work on facial expressions, too stiff, and you can move your mouths, to sing the words.

  • this was reallyyy good but im confused on your sign for "better"

  • its the same as improve

  • Wow amazing

  • @limmyblue they are high school students-not university-they're only in their second year-it's pretty good for their level

  • @limmyblue i think they're wearing the hats and outfits as costumes, since the song is if i were a boy.

  • sickkkkkk

  • thats awesome

  • good, you need more facial expression

  • this is good and i know this is an ASL class but try not to change the lyrics to "too ASL" the meaning of the lyrics kinda get lost. and also try to "lip sync" when you sign, it makes you a lot easier to understand

but good job nonetheless :] (i'm hard of hearing and go to a deaf school)

  • really nice :]

  • that's awesome.

i go to university high at irvine and i'm hard of hearing too.
