Beautiful pipes. I have a Reid set made by John Burke of Crook in County Durham. I have played and heard many others but they are the ones I liked the most. The chanter is in A and 'Northumbrian half-long' (not smallpipe), so is longer and thinner and quieter than the lowland chanters. It has a really sweet melodic sound that is a bit like a halfway house to the Uillean/pastoral chanter. Plays two notes over the octave. Well worth looking at if anyone fancies a set.
That`s so lovely. Is the fingering closed system or open? I couldnt figure out how they were making the grace notes. They sound very scottish to me. Can anyone tell?
Hi there, i love that tune, i heard someone playing it at a young pipers night at the National Piping Centre in glasgow, can you maybe get me the music, so i don't have to learn it off this video. Thanks, nice video.
I could listen to the sound of pipes for hours! :-) All the bagpipes are such beautiful instruments. I play the fiddle, but the pipes, next to the Viola da gamba are definitely on my list of favourite instruments!

Those pipes are awesome. Shame you can buy a car here in the states for what they cost. Beautiful though. Good job guys

Ah, the unmistakable sound and appearance of the "Garvie" Border pipe made by Nigel Richard.
for my money they are the least effort to play and the tone is as good as any and better than most.

HititOnTheNaill:
The tune is published in several places. The latest I've seen is "Ann Gray's Collection"; her book includes seconds.
