  • Beautiful Billy Fury! A Wondrous Place is an amazing song sung perfectly by Britain's best Rocker Billy Fury! Billy would surely still be singing to this day had he not been plagued by heart problems after contracting Rheumatic fever as a child and taken away from us at 42! Actually it is quite incredible Billy did so well considering that he was never in good health. What a waste of a wonderful talented and gorgeous looking man. Who was a gentle modest person in real life. RIP BILLY!

  • this man rocked liverpool ,no he rocked the uk

  • @FRANKIEonPC1080p thank you big song

  • Beautiful song A Wondrous Place sung by the brilliant Billy Fury. An incredible singer and songwriter who sadly passed away due to a lifetime of heart ailments. Billy was by far the best British rocker ever and he had an incredibly successful career which was unfortunately interrupted several times by heart surgeries . Miss you Billy you ere wonderful. Rest in peace!

  • Crime of the century? Cliff Richard got more coverage than Mrs Wycherley's little boy! I've always loved this underrated track.

  • Yes, Alice Gold's recent cover is commendable, but BF has that shit too a T.

  • Brilliant song, introduced to me by an amazing cover by Alice Gold.

  • Ah, Liverpool, such an unfair share of musical brilliance you have had

  • Am I the only under person under 25 listening to this!

  • @DrConnorful

    Right this minute, probably.

But since they're now using a version of this song for an ad on UKtv - many I suspect - will be looking it up.

    Thanks for your comment. :)

  • @DrConnorful No my man!

  • @DrConnorful

Nope! 18 and I still love it!

  • I bought this when it first came out and played it over and over - the neighbours (US - neyburs) complained and I had to turn it off. Oh and a B side by cliff - dynamite. Top singer. I was there in those days and it was superb - Beatles and Stones while I was at school. Lady gaga victims eat your hearts out.

  • I just heard this during adverts in Rudby World Cup....I think it's advertising Carling???

  • Billy. You were so wonderful. One of my favourite songs. The amazingly talented Billy Fury! Britain's best and first Rock 'n Roller. Taken away from us too soon. Miss you darling Billy. RIP.

  • The great Billy Fury singing one of my favourite songs. Love it! Love him. The best performer Britain ever produced and a truly nice modest gentle man. When Billy passed it was a great loss to the world. We knew it would probably happen because of his heart problems but we hoped it wouldn't! Life is not fair!! This was a waste of a beautiful talented human being. RIP BILLY. YOU WILL NEVER BE FORGOTTEN!

  • how did this guy ever make it cause he cant sing

  • classic, i adore this song!

Just want to grab your partner!

    x

  • Original and best version

  • I love this song and Billy sings it with a special magic. What a voice! So wonderful. ! Brings back memories of my childhood in England as my Dad had old 78's of Billy's! so I heard him often growing up. Each recording of this song is different so Billy was a very versatile performer. We don't have artists like this today! What a shame. Love and miss you Billy.

  • I allways thought "Billy Fury and "Ken Dodd were the best singers from Liverpool.

  • cool

  • great tune.

  • From a humble beginning (tugboat boy on the Mersey river) Billy had the devilish good looks, unique aura and such a memorable voice to carve a place in sixties musical history. He bravely tested his talent early by writing original tracks which were sadly reined in by over zealous managers and publishers. There is one newspaper shot of him standing next to Elvis at the height of his fame. And you know what he looked better....

  • @rurimino

I checked that photo you mention, you know what .... you're right :)

  • hi soniclady89 and that's a marvel in itself...looking as good as the king. Check out 'I'm lost without you' (nyrainbow) as Billy's vocals, stage presence and pacing are impeccable.

  • I had the fortune of seeing Billy performing this and many more songs live on stage, was and still is one of my favourites. Great performer.

  • Me too!

  • brillient

  • Britain produced so much tlent in the late 50's early 60's. How many were better than Billy? So why did Cliff Richard have the success? RIP, Ron Wycherley, you were robbed.

  • @krustybiker Sorry for the late reply, but I agree. I think that being very talented can be a double edged sword. Even though a person may have what it takes, there will always be larger amounts of less talented people ready and willing to team up and tear down the ones who really deserve to hit the top.

  • i love the last shadow puppets cover

  • you can almost smell the smokey atmosphere

  • Great vid, I posted a different version of this song by Billy as a video response.
