and a fun fact for budiges is that they poop every 12 to 15 mins!:P

That depends on the sizie of the drops of course. But I used to have a budgie that injured itself during night-time (he probably flew against the aviary bars and a feather was stuck the wrong way) and he lost large amounts of blood. He was weak for a few days, but he survived and lived happily for many more years after that.

Well, I hope not, that would be quite unusual for just a bleeding nail. How much blood did the budgie loose? And what did you cut the nails for? If you give the birds some natural branches they should be able to regulate their nails themselves. I hardly ever cut the nails of mine. Just some older budgies which have e.g. liver problems (that can make the nails and beak grow faster) sometimes need that. I wish your budgie all the best.

If the room is bird-save they can fly outside, and if you only feed them inside their cage they'll eventually always come back into their cage. Well, if they have some landing spots they'll mainly poop there, but of course sometimes they'll also do that while flying. But they're birds and need their free-flight, so that's O.K., I'd say. And for 2 budgies this is not much of a problem I'd say, I have 8 budgies right now and also that's not much work :).

No, it's a second-hand cage which was custom made for budgies by a professional aviary builder.

Do you have just one cockatiel? Are you going to get him a partner cockatiel?

yes, please get your budgie a budgie partner, he will love it!

I would recommend to get the opposite gender, that's most of the times the best option. You could also keep two males, two females can be difficult. But I prefer to keep male and female together.

No worries, normally they won't lay eggs until the female has a dark place to hide in (a breeding box or alike). I have 5 females and 6 males now and none of them breeds.

that isn't a good idea really, budgies that are by them selves for a while like 5-6 months usually get territorial and if you get another one they might start fighting and soon enough they can fight to kill each other

Wow! Now thats a lot of Budgies!! Aww they have such a nice cage! Have you named every budgie? I have three at the moment named Dorathy, Ducky, and Spike. Soon I am to get another. Also I am looking after one of my friends budgies until the weekend. Its her easter present! He is a pied budgie, hes got the bold black stripes and grey and white patches. Hes adorable.

Great that you have 3 budgies and not just one!

Of course every budgie has a name, I have 11 now. But most of the times I can't name them since I only adopt elderly budgies (e.g. of people who can't take care of them any more). But I already did get some budgies who did not even have a name at their former owners, these were named by me :).

Aw thats so great that you adopt!I don't know where I would adopt, besides from out of the paper, but most in there are from breeders that live to far away. But if the chance ever came up I would love to adopt. Ohh are all yours tame?I have my other budgie now =D Me and my friend named it Jay. Because its too young to sex. And its a uni sex name. Its amazing how smart they are and they learn so quickly. I taught my friends bird to be tame with in 4 days. He was the pied one I was talking about.

Do you have only one budgie? If so, get a partner budgie, that should work to animate your budgie to get out of the cage.

My budgies also won't eat everything. What all of them eat is fresh grass with grass seeds. They also like cucumber and other green veggies, the only thing they like that's not green are carrots. But unfortunately they don't like fruits very much.

Try feeding them grass and cucumber have some patience, they might only eat it after you offered it for many times :)

Hi, I'm sorry to hear that your budgie died. If it was nothing infectious and the other bird is fine, then please give her a new partner soon. She will otherwise be too lonely and toys are no substitute for a budgie partner. The best would be to get a budgie not too young, about the same age as your budgie, so that they will get along fine.
