  • 1:30 for the crash. Bad luck mate :-(

  • man, thats unlucky....the only bend with any armco! :) i agree with your conclusions - bollox.

  • @fewleh Thanks mate. :)

  • @thepearces I'm going there in a few days, so hopefully I wil learn from your lesson ! ;) Did you get it fixed? Was it pricey? Hoping it was mainly bodywork?

  • @fewleh Lesson is: Don't drive too fatigued (you or the car)... Brake early, scrub off right speed... Rev Match on down-shifts and don't choose wrong gear. Otherwise, thoroughly enjoy yourself, and don't try to go "too fast". No, it was not fixed - was a write-off (both front & rear offside suspension & wheels +bodywork, and steering rack >£8K!), but had track insurance so got a full settlement... and a new R3 which I don't track (yet), but do AutoSolos - see other vids. :-)

  • Ahhh my heart bleads for you seeing that!

I find my RX8 weaves a bit under heavy braking.

Glad the final outcome was ok for you.

  • Yes - it can get a bit 'squirrelly' depending on road surface (I find the entry into Paddock Hill at Brands a bit like that!)

Ensure your tyre pressures are good, and suspension geometry set-up has been checked.

It can also indicate you're braking too late - as you have a tendency to want to start turning too - and leave that too late.

    Thanks for the thoughts :)

  • if you listen closely you can hear his engine rev up high right before he dips into the barrier. it happens. esp if you race. good luck.

  • Just curious... your insurance paid for this? Was it special insurance for racing? If not, I'm surprised you were covered.

  • Yes, I had special track insurance. Relatively cheap, and of course optional. Can always recommend because of incidents like this. Beware that track insurance is nothing like road insurance though and 'collision damage' is exactly that. period. Not covered for: recovery off track (I could drive it), damage to track/armco (nothing for me, luckily!), and recovery, estimation etc. to a repairer, no courtesy car, no storage etc. - all has to be done yourself! Excesses are high to, so bear in mind.

  • Hey what the hell happened there? tyre blow out? Hope the damage wasnt too bad.

  • Very late, miss-timed gear change without rev-matching, resulting in locked rear diff :-(

Car was written off - bodywork damage not too bad, but both front and rear wheels hit, bending many suspension components!. Anyhow, full insurance settlement made, and now proud owner of a new R3. Every cloud has a silver lining :)

  • Bollocks

  • My sentiments, precisely... The words said later once I'd got the car to a safe place were slightly more choice! ;-)

  • @Gaygle2003

That made the video... very calm!

  • @WhaleBlueTwentyTwo words from Wifey's mouth over the phone were not so calm! ;-)
