Very interesting ! I just made a comment on your other video (Plot Immunization), and wrote an analogy between a magician and a Game Master, but quite differently.
Being a magician myself, I use *real* magic techniques during the games I run.
There's one thing in particular that I like to use, and it's called misdirection. In a RPG context, it means that I show my players a scene from a certain angle, knowing that 75% of what happened was invisible to them. And their work is to figure it out.
But anyways, I agree with jesternario comment above. Or... below... somewhere in this page.
On the magician thing, and how he/she relates to the audience, I always believed on that. But there's more to it, because we don't have only spectators. Players don't just participate on the act, they are collaborators. They're also magicians.
John, seriously, take a video camera and record that deathmatch... er... seminar. feel free to punish us people that don't go to Gencon by not posting it for a week, but do record and post it later.
Another helpful and interesting video. Here's hoping that someone records the seminar and posts it online for those of us who can't make it to GenCon.
Buahaha! I knew the trick, but that was funny.

Hope that Seminar makes its way onto a podcast. As I will be playing at the Open Indie Game area.

John Wick and Robin Laws? All they have to do is add in Luke Crane and I'd be able to die a happy man after that seminar!
Now I'm bummed I can't attend Gencon this year! :(
Read Robin's Laws of Good Game mastering if you haven't. You won't be disappointed! It might even help your game! (It's available via E23!)

Fortunately I had my Sceptic Stone to block all attempts to read my mind. Thanks Sceptic Stones for stopping this warlock from reading my mind!

Um...that was the same hand of cards. In the same order.
Next time try mixing up their order in your hand to make it somewhat not obvious.

The human mind is very interesting.

Fuck, I even tried to pick a card that wasn't obvious. >:
Again, lovely video. Really made me wanna roleplay some again, after having a break during the summer.
