What a precious family. You know, we tend to think those with medical conditions have it bad, but I really think it's the other way around. Those with a sense of mortality seem to appreciate what they have and understand that life is short. We could all die at any moment, we don't know when. @dapoculos13 Karen apears to be doing no worse than her last checkup.... she will be going this spring for a complete checkup at the National Institutes of Health. Hopefully the Pulmonary Fibrosis will still be in check and no worse...... Thank you for your concern!
@ItsIzzyx3 Karen had wanted to be a nurse, but the colleges would not accept her at the time due to her vision. Now she is a VOLUNTEER at the hospital for many years.... how cool is that??!!!!
I'm so very glad that Karen is doing well and I will keep her in my prayers. =) I'm 17 and my life dream is to become a doctor so that I can help people like Karen or anyone who needs it. Prayers coming your way for sure! =)

@selenafan4ever131 I was 5 when I lost my grandfather to pulmonary fibrosis (he did not have the condition) so I must agree on this one she is brave and that is inspiring and around 8 years back when this happened to us there was nothing to do just shows how much has changed in less then a decade

My hope is that I can blaze a trail which will provide answers to the questions that are currently unavailable to us in order to benefit the generations to come. I felt like crying just watching this entire video, but I kept it all in and started to pray that someone, somewhere is researching this disease and will make a cure for it real soon.
Praying for you, too, Karen. Hang on tight to that wonderful daughter of your's who's attitude is 100% correct! And hang on tight to that wonderful man you're married to. You are a lucky lady because you have those 2.
I cried at the end. It's terrible to think that something that seemed so small at first can turn into a lifelong disease! I hope she lives long and has a happy life.

what about longue transplant? i've watched a video of someone who couldn't produce proteins and had trouble breathing and he had longue transplant and now he's perfectly fine
@freiheit0007 In a lot of cases of HPS, lung transplantation is possible. But, it is by individual case by case. In Karen's case, we won't be sure but we can be hopeful. It will depend upon the transplant center and their rules as they vary by transplant center by transplant center.
Karen said that she knows Len with Alpha 1 personally and he is any awesome guy!

Even though you have this disease I'm glad your able to cope with it.

I cried at the end. It's terrible to think that something that seemed so small at first can turn into a lifelong disease! I hope she lives long and has a happy life.

what about longue transplant? i've watched a video of someone who couldn't produce proteins and had trouble breathing and he had longue transplant and now he's perfectly fine

@freiheit0007 In a lot of cases of HPS, lung transplantation is possible. But, it is by individual case by case. In Karen's case, we won't be sure but we can be hopeful. It will depend upon the transplant center and their rules as they vary by transplant center by transplant center.
Karen said that she knows Len with Alpha 1 personally and he is any awesome guy!
