  • huh? best ever? seems you all have forgotten johnny winter??? and oh yes JIMMIE VAUGHAN??? anson funderburgh.... shhh another jimmie whats his name??? starts with an H...

you all need study his licks sometime. srv is a great player but he uses the same lcks all the time

  • @billgator2005

Lol, another person who hasn't heard the bootleg evidence. Don't worry, there's a major underground project right now preparing to show people the TRUE evidence of SRV's music prowess. Soon people will know that there was more to SRV than just what they play on the radio.

  • that band is pumping more than double trouble

  • nobody ever got more outta the pentatonic scale

  • @csinner63 Mate, SRV did more than a cover of Hendrix’s Little Wing. He did to LW what Hendrix did with his cover to Hey, Joe, aka the ultimate version. Damn, even a die hard Hendrix fan should be capable of some objectivity

  • @Jesrama1 Well that's exactly what I was being "Objective" while complimenting each in there own right... I think that much is obvious^^^

  • @Jesrama1

"SRV did more than a cover of Hendrix’s Little Wing"

Yeah, he did a "Grammy-award-winning instrumental expansion of a formerly untouchable rock classic". But shhhhh... don't tell csinner63.

  • @cavalrytm Hahahaha, I won't. Neither will I tell him the same Grammy-Award winning instrumental was voted "Best Guitar Solo Ever" in 2004 by UK Guitar One magazine. Not that I'm a fan of lists and rankings, quite the contrary…. but it's still a sign of well deserved appreciation

  • The other guitarist is Hiram Bullock

  • Two people have broken computer speakers...

  • OH his Voice Melts My Heart ♥♥♥♥♥ Stevie Ray Vaughan ♥♥♥♥♥

  • WOW. AMAZING!!!

  • OMG explosively SRV, thank you for posting !!!

  • excellent le live

  • Wonder who the two dimbulbs who don't like it are.....

  • Broken string too!!!

  • I saw him in Dallas less than a year before his death. Love this cat. Thanks for the video!!!

  • Lordy, I miss SRV so much!!! I also watched Nightmusic religiously while it was on for an inexplicably short time!!!

  • RIP SRV AND HIRAM

  • Stevie in the "Crossfire" RIP My Friend

  • Zero to sixty in two seconds.

  • they was so lucky to play with stevie !

  • @krasher123456

I was so lucky to have seen him here in Austin .

  • RIP

  • Tom Barney is funkin out man!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • The solo in this is absolutely brilliant, the way he just moves fluidly through the notes is just so far beyond most guitar players, definitely one of the very very few great blues players of all time, best in the modern era by miles!

  • That kicked major ass

  • That was great.

  • What the name of the song?

    Πώς λέγεται το κομμάτι????

  • @panteliosar

    Crossfire aderfe!!! :)

  • @SteveFEn7DER <== Σ' ευχαριστώ!!! Επιτέλους και κάποιος Έλληνας που να ακούει ποιότητα!!!!!!!

  • @panteliosar γεια και απο μενα παιδια! :)

  • @odingr

    WRAIOS!!!!!

  • all the greats are going to heaven, getting to be slim pickens here. this band is killer too.

  • Fantastic! Thanks for posting!

  • this is almost too good,,you know? its like my ears cant even take it its so good

  • This is awesome

  • One of my 2 fav blues cats stevie ray vaughn. The other being buddy guy! I just love the tone of stevie rays strat and his licks are out of this world!!!!

  • Love Stevie's tone, any tips on how I may get a sound close to his?

  • Night Music was the greatest music showcase ever. I still recall the day I heard SRV died. I was devastated. I'm so glad I can relive his greatness on here.

  • Stevie's hands are a blur on the solo... and I'n not talking about the video quality! Hard to believe he, and now Hiram, have left us. If the afterlife is a paradise, it's gonna have a great soundtrack!

  • i miss reese and double trouble.

  • nobody can stop 'em.

  • ALL RIGHT LOVE IT NICE COOL WONDERFULL

  • que genio dios mio SRV por siempre

  • i think that's Tom Barney on bass.

  • I can't stop watching this video. Such an amazing band of true, raw talent. Omar is the groove master. I never knew Hiram Bullock passed away in 2008, which makes this clip all the more poignant. Darryl Jones on bass and is that Don Alias on congas? Too funky! Way too kool!

  • Yes ! Don Alias !! This is amazing !

  • And Omar Hakim on Drums !

  • man if only SRV was still alive, hed be beyond anything!!!!! id love to see SRV play Chris Duarte... if you havnt heard chris duarte, well i suggest you look him up! you'll be dazzled!

  • is it just me or did the bass player break a string at the end ?

  • Not just you! He done slapped that sucker in half!

  • RIP Stevie and Hiram. Two awesome guitarists

  • Omar and SRV sync up so darn swell...

  • i remember the day like it was yesterday, so fucking sad.

  • SRV is one of my top two favorite guitarists. The other is Jimi Hendrix. SRV & crew rips through Crossfire here with an extra guitar and added drums. Cool version of original SRV & Double Trouble Crossfire. Listen and savor since they ain't making any more like this. We lost him and his rare musical talent too soon! As we did with Jimi as well.

  • crossfire

  • this duet is amazing! What is the name of this song? Please!

  • Comment removed

  • I'm sorry, I meant "Cross Fire".

  • tank you very much!

  • GROOOOOOVIN! Yeah Stevie!!

  • Damn, Stevie sounds funky with a blackup band!!

  • SRV, really the best ever bluesman for an overall blues package, ever...and you look at the props he give to his influences and the people he's jammed with...any wonder why he came out with total package he did? respect from young and old, no matter what music/playing background...can bend those heavy strings super slow or keep the blues comin' at a fast tempo with oozing feel...no blues left untouched or mastered, that's Stevie Ray Vaughan. a legend. a bluesman of the highest order!!!

    RIP.

  • I agree. The man was a true genius at what he did. And you really come to appreciate him when you try to learn his style. Perfect rhythm and clean perfect lead guitar. What a gift!!!

  • I Really miss this show! All of these guys who are still alive and still playing, should bring this back on the air! And only hire strong, hungry talent just like this!

WOW, Stevie really went out on top! RIP Stevie.

  • Look at the drummers face when he starts this song. I've played it back over & over. Damn-it he knows they are fixing to kick our asses and there's nothing we can do about it!

God Bless you guys. Keep on playin' wherever you are!!!

  • 0:40 AWESOME PINCH HARMONIC!

  • wow your right that was awsome!! first pinch harmonic ive ever heard him play!!

  • pinch harmonics can often happen by accident. rip srv your are the greatest

  • i don't think there's any need to question that pinch harmonic bro, especially live. a well placed pinch harmonic can easily add a lot of punch and style to a given riff, and a good guitar player can easily add a pinch harmonic whenever they want to. i'm not disagreeing with you man, just saying that either way, he pulled it of excellently. use heavy-gauge picks for better pinch harmonics and for better overall control of the strings. i use 1.5mm to 2.0mm Dunlops for awesome pinch harmonics.

  • im not saying that he did by accident, just simply stating that it can happen by accident. srv is perfectly capable of it, he could do anything, he was the greatest. i can only wish to play guitar like he did. :)

  • GOOD GOD!

What a hell of a jam those guys had goin on there!

  • Now that was beautifully funky. He plays extremely well with these guys.

  • I'm a big Hiram Bullock fan too, check him out with Steve Jordan backing James Brown on Letterman in 1982, kind of a bookend with this clip.

  • Honestly ,this is the most funky i have evere heard Stevie Ray Vaughn. The band really lays down a nice grove for him to play and sing over.I seriously doubt his regular back-up band could match these seasoned musicians.I wonder what his career would have been like had he had a group of guys like these to back him up .WOW

  • Honestly ,this is the most funky i have ever heard Stevie ray vaughn. The band really sets a nice grove for him.I seriously doubt if his regular back-up band can match the soul and grove of these seasoned musicians.I wonder what his career would have been like had these guys been his regular back-up band .WOW

  • BLOWS ME AWAY!!!

  • this has more energy than with double trouble??

  • Fuckin' great. I never tire of this clip. Love 3:53, Stevie and Hiram gettin down with their bad selves. Hiram and the gang are better than Double Trouble. God bless you Stevie!!

  • I'm a jazz cat & a bebopper, never heard of SRV at all. I used to watch Night Music after I got home from my Sunday night gig for lit two years. Nobody I every talk to has ever heard of it. I remember seeing this and being blown away.

You know, I saw Hendrix live at Winterland when I was a kid. The thought crossed my mind that there was Jimi influence but Stevie's raw energy told me he was the real deal.

Imagine those two cats jammin' in heaven! Great clip thanx for postin'.

  • Sheeeat, why he gone? Toooo good.

  • Far out, stevies on fire. Aside from that his playing is amazing, i love his funk / blues style

  • @eatme765wes I agree that would be one jam to see indeed! C+RIP

  • i think that for most of the people there in this viedeo this was one of theire beautifull day in theire lives. They looks like they have a lot of fun TOO FUN!

  • This song is amazing and the night music band made it pretty sweet too. Stevie's playing is just amazing like always and the band is loving being able to play with him. Notice how the bassist breaks a string. And it's cool that he shows Stevie that he broke it too. It's funny hearing and seeing Crossfire without Stevie's signature string pull. Anyway thanks for the upload. R.I.P. Stevie!!!!!

  • yeah merd if ya look at the end of the vid i think the bass player actually presents the sting to stevie...lol..this is one of the best

stevie vids ive ever seen... he is in the moment...god rest his soul..but not for too long he needs to JAM! I will never let anyone forget SRV :)

  • Yeah I tought i'd recognised Omar Hakim, damn great stuff!!

  • ooh nice!!

  • that harmonic at 0:41 is ridiculous

  • who the heck deleted my comment, I just said bassist broke a string, you can notice it at the end(he pulls it with his hands after the song)

  • damn that show was great!!

  • oh shit, he did, wo

  • he did?...when?!

  • bassist broke a string. cool

  • Wow!!! Such a groovy and full of energy version of the song!!! It gives me the shivers!!!

  • Nice boots SRV !

    Need the same!

  • oohhhhh bluesy RIP SRV

  • como le pega el batero por dios :O!!!!!!!!!!!

  • who is the bass player?

  • SRV the best ever

  • The band brought their 'A game'! They are stoked to play with Stevie, It's obvious.

  • Great post:)5*****

  • Damn . . . the other band members were totally into Stevie's playing! Great video!

  • whoa!! man, this guy could kill you with a guitar bend if he wanted.

    thanks for posting bobby!

  • holy shit is that omar hakim on drums??

  • yes

  • that man made magic in special efx

  • Yes, Omar was the drummer for Night Music for a while. And a bad ass at that.

  • Possibly the only time you'll ever see a bass player break a string....jammin' with SRV.

  • Yeah man, with SRv it's sure that you'll will crazy...

  • you mean to tell me that bassist broke one of his strings, well true it could only happen when playing Funk-Blues with SRV

  • Yeah, I saw this when it first aired on T.V. Watch at the end of the song and you'll notice the bassist pulling the string out to show Stevie.

I miss the power he put into his music.

  • checkout the totally wicked right hand downstrokes at 3:09-3:11, whew gives me the gooseflesh

  • srv sounds great with a black band !

  • im sorry but since when did it matter what race you were, when could black musicians suddenly so things white people couldn't, they have more power in their voices and im guessing have better natural dancing rhythm, but im sure a White band could do this just as well

  • Ive never seen Double Trouble drive SRV this much, sometimes I think Chris Layton lascks dynamics and power in his playing.

  • yea well thats true LOL, he seems so "half-hearted" about his playing, you see him live and he looks like he doesn't want to be there, very talented but no passion like the drummer here

  • and i wasn't saying Double Trouble inparticular could play as good as this I was mentioning white people in general because the message i got from you was that "only a black band could pull that off", but still now you compare Double Trouble to these guys i agree, this bands Soul, Jazz and Funk Style goes well SRVs Texas-Blues ryhthm

  • SRV plays Blues-Rock and has elements of Rock 'n'Roll, Pyschadelic Rock, Progressive Rock, Jazz Fusion, Soul and Funk all in his music no matter what band hes with and if were still alive i think if he were to go into that dominant area of Blues, Soul, Jazz and Funk with a backup band like this he could've created a whole new style of music

  • Thats true. SRV really had a sense of funk in some of his playing and I think this band amplifies that. I probably worded my original post wrong, but I think the groove of this band suits him well.

  • good to know

  • I say screw color. I live in the heart of the south. I'd say no matter what color you are youre gonna have the blues. the man can play. but i'll tell you that this man is just playing. when he's with tommy and layton. he's fucking rocking. Who couldn't play with him. you got a guitarist who can play. any band can get up and play with him.

  • very true but he just sounds so amazing and unique with a Funk band, thats my two favourite genres meeting thats why i love this so much

  • its pretty ironic we see David Sanborn AKA one of the greatest saxophonists of all time at the start, because this performance with a horn section in it would be perfect, and this song actually has horns in it aswell

  • Yeah I agree, color should have nothing to do with music. He was a master of the blues no matter what color he was. This band does fucking rock though!!!

  • Steveie was a black man. According to B.B. King. I'll take his word on it! peace on,,,,,,,,,,,,,

  • Orgasmic.

  • thank you for taking the time to share this with the rest of us! This band is simply SMOKIN

  • Thank You Nightmusic posters. I miss this show.

  • min 00:41!!!

  • Great screaming harmonic!! :-)
