Haha, I guess you don't /have/ to do it -- and you certainly don't have to attend every single circus festival day -- but I do recommend returning all the animals. Once you do, you're rewarded with the secret of the Animal Whistle, and you'll be able to call upon the circus animals to give you free, immediate transportation to nearly any area on the island, whenever you want! It saves a TON of time, and now that I have the ability I can hardly imagine playing the game without it!

Yep! All of them! xD It's not so bad, though; there are only three: Eunice the giraffe, Trunks the elephant, and Humphrey the hippo. The other circus animals, like the monkey and the zebra, never go missing.

My mum never took me to circuses because of that very reason. It's true though how else do they get the animals to do ticks they punish them like wiping if they don't do as they are told.

talk to dale, Lukes dad --(luke <3) he has a dog in this game so he tells you how to train animals with the whistle and he gives u one at the end of his little demenstration with his dog. :D

hey. I'm just starting this game. So i went to the circus and of course i talked to Theo, and he told me to make the recipes for the animals which would take me a long time since i DON'T have any of the ingredients cuz they re out of season and i don't have any cookware besides a pot.

and 2 find the animals. Do i have to do this ALL in one DAY?!?!? !

Nope, you don't have to do it in one day! You can make the food and call out the animals on any day, and they'll walk back to wherever the circus is on their own. Then, the circus comes will back into town once a season, every season, on the 22nd - and if you've gotten the animals, they'll be there in the show next time.

Nope, definitely not! You can give each animal the food whenever you're ready; the Circus doesn't necessarily have to be in town at the time (apparently, the animals know their own way back somehow...). Once you give the food, whenever that may be, you can be assured that that animal will be present for the next possible circus performance. And meanwhile, you'll get a letter from the Mayor that tells you how to get the /next/ missing animal.
