Ich vergess im Leben nicht den Moment als ich ihn beim Casting beim Raab das erste mal Singen gehört hab... hab mich sofort in seine Stimme verliebt :)
Youtube won't let me post the link, but if you go to google and search for this phrase "Mama Lied by Phil Gentile", there's a link with the heading "Hit Song Radio ~ Your Place to be Heard". it's there.
It took me a bit to find this (or anything about this song).
Tower of Power may have recorded this, but it's my understanding that the tune was written and originally performed by a Boston-based R'n'B singer named Phil Gentile who recorded this for Epic (c. 1981), had a near-hit with it, and then became a Jehovah's Witness and refused to play anywhere alcohol was served, so Epic pulled the plug on him.
This guys got a great voice for this song. I'm quite impressed with his English, as well. Judging solely on the comments and his other videos, I'm assuming that it's not his first language, but his accent and diction are better than most of the native English speakers I've heard.
Originally recorded and released by Phil Gentili (prior to Tower of Power). See Video Response.

@nickmorgan19457 Amazing. Thank you so much! I can certainly see the charm in the much slower tempo!

Funktioniert tatsächlich auch ohne Bläser. N bisschen gehetzt vielleicht, aber ist schon ne Kracherstimme. Und das Lied ist ja sowieso toll. :)
