It may have been a good thing if he joined the Military, but his purpose was else where, to be a entertainer and entertain people in times of turmoil. He sent V-discs to people in the army to bring them some motivation. I agree though, the military should always be a priority, but its true, he wasnt allowed due to a problem with his eardrums.

a true artist one of the best sorry to say I wish he had done a few years in the military.Hes a favorite of mine but my father didnt really care for him.All the men that died in the early forties and Frank was a tough guy hoorah LEE MARVIN.

@ichtus44 Well to be fair, he had a perforated eardrum. The military medical board also found that he had mental issues, but that didn't come out until later.. Even he were a regular Joe trying to enlist, he still would have been 4F. The fact that he didn't serve really haunted him all his life and was a real regret.

I find it hard to blame him. It's not like he used his clout to actively AVOID service. He tried and was rejected. Like many others with medical issues.
