My information was incorrect, we supported Saddam in the 80's because there was fear that Iraq could possibly lose the Iran-Iraq War. Iranians overthrew the Shah, our primary ally in the Middle East. This hurt our involvement in the Gulf and Iraq saw this as an opportunity to declare war since the Iranian military was weaker. This is why we supported him. Anyway, we want Iraqis to be free now. That was not our main focus in the 80's.

Not all soldiers are like this. Many of them hate the war including my step brother, but we tend to prop the ones up that support our own political agenda and I think that is wrong whatever side your on. The soldiers that are against the war fought just as hard for us as the ones still for it.
