  • Er DR2 en dansk eller svensk kanal?

  • @marshallkiller -Dansk

  • @marshallkiller - det är en dansk. Danmarks Radio - har DR1 och DR2 - och numera ännu fler

  • aaron rodgers 1:55 on the left

  • Hey Flex-- I bet people just love listening to all your wisdom. The kid's age is of importance concerning this music. Because you don't understand that doesn't mean others don't. You apparently aren't able to contribute anything worthwhile so why make yourself look stupid?

  • great tunes but ive always wondered...is "bed of roses" about an 18 year old who gets it on with a 35 year old woman who took him in off the streets? sounds that way to me.

  • кто нибудь перевидите на русский, о чем поет джони кэш?

  • I am only 15 and I LOVE this type of Music!!

  • @intimad8r1 who gives a shit how old u are!!!!

  • Great session.......

  • dude... the lead singer for the Statler brothers looks like Arron Rogers' twin brother... holy crap!

  • Beautiful song ,Johnny Cash + Stayler Brother = perfect

  • Its the fact the same old, cookie cutter bullshit that plagues new music. It's always about clubbing, or "hoes" or some other stupid garbage.

  • My Hero ALL TIME HERO!. RIP JOHN We miss you and loved you!!!!!.

    Thanks for this!.

  • i really envy all you 60 and 70 year olds out there. sounds kind of strange, doesn't it? but i really do...

  • Hea I am only 38 and this is my favorite music generaly and this style of gospel, It is what I grew up listening too,

  • Fuck, this is wonderful.

  • I grew up listening to the Statlers becuse of my Dad, he played their 8-track tapes all the time when a new one came out he would buy it. He listened to others but the Statler is his favorites. I got my love for real country music from him, I like some of todays artists like Alan Jackson and George Strait but thats about it. Thank you for posting this video I watch it often.

  • @Immeistert The Year Was 1971, If You Want The DVD It's Called Johnny Cash The Man In Black 'Live' In denmark 1971

  • the gentleman that's clean shaven has a great soprano.(Deep singing voice.)

  • @MarkWilk19 The guy with the mustache on the far left is singing the "deep part" which is called the bass.

  • Older people have a responsibility to show younger people a way back to the decent internal reality in this music and others; no one helps them and they are given trash.

  • @westchesterny Some of us older people try. But the younger people aren't interested and are so brainwashed by the public schools and their peers, they don't seem to hear.

  • WOW!! What a combination: Johnny Cash and the Statler Brothers. You can't ask for anything more. I remember their last outdoor concery (4th of July) in their hometown

of Staunton, Virginia. We took lawn chairs, cooler chest, baseball hats, watermelon, and our 2 sons and spent the day listening to their beautiful voices coming from the stage. I'll never forget how handsome they were and how they harmonized. We drove up from North Carolina and had the best day. Thanks for the wonderful video.

  • @TheunDijkstra Say hello to Pussycat for me.They are great.

  • The most beloved country music band. The Statlers music brings back sweet memories from the past. So glad to have lived in Virginia when we could be a part of Happy Birthday USA. Thank you for your music. Johnny Cash was great also and we will never forget your greatness!

  • just great!

  • Music can feed your soul but it can also poison it. This is what I call soul-food.

  • Absolutely amazing, God bless Johnny and the Statler Brorthers.

  • I miss Johnny Cash, and I miss The Statlers.

  • Johnny Cash and the Statler Brothers are all great artists. Both songs are great.

  • I have this on a CD with other song from them

  • great

  • johnny cash and tom arnold look a lot alike i think. i just thought of that as i was watching him sing.

  • looks a heap like Clifton Collins Jnr.

  • This Music would have been on my Ipod back then. No joke.

  • wow

  • Denmark in 1971! :D

  • mullet!!!!! what year was this filmed. the history of the mullet goes from david bowie to new wave bands, is johnny cash the missing link?

  • love it

  • Tak dansker !!!!!! For hvor mange år siden var det her?

  • What's the name of the man singing bass?

  • Comment removed

  • mohinderbauer - Bass is Harold Reid. His brother, Don Reid, is lead on 'Bed of Roses.'

  • His Name is Harold Reid

  • Comment removed

  • You're right. I'll add that many of today's "artists" can't even articulate.

  • You just have to search outside of mainstream. The real art is in underground today.

  • Although I like these songs. I find your comment strange. This is after all, a song about an 18 year old boy being corrupted by 35 year old prostitute!

  • Comment removed

  • @leoseries where do you get the idea that the 18 year old boy is being "corrupted"?

  • @orrfhan Perhaps I am old-fashioned but I would class living on the earnings of a middle-aged prostitute as being fairly corrupt.

  • @pigpenthecat I did the same thing when I first saw this video.

  • @pigpenthecat "there is just hate and nasty things in current music" . You do know that this is a song about a guy losing his virginity to the village bike?

  • Instead of the normal lead guitar riff you hear on the recording, Lew plays it in the "boom-chicka" style a la Luther Perkins that you hear in all of Johnny Cash's music. Very cool version.

  • beautiful

  • I loved the Statler brothers. I loved Johnny Cash. I miss both of them and as I enter my seventies I am just glad I lived in their time.

  • And your children are glad to witness the masters of amerian country music. my father is in his 60's and he taught me the true masters... The statler brothers, Kenny rogers and Johnny cash. Thank you father for keeping them alive...

  • @onebaud well said

  • @onebaud I'm 60 and I totally agree with you! They are so amazing and their (Johnny, Statlers and so many more) concerts have brought me and my children so much pleasure!

  • I like the tight vocals of the Statler Bros. Nice videos.

  • Lew's guitar playing is a bit sloppy (sorry, but it's true), but what a voice! Especially the soprano thing he does at the end!

  • the statlers were the best

    Great harmony.

  • best Statler songs "more than just a name on the wall" Class of 57. great

    great group

  • Is this concert on dvd?

  • I rented it through Net Flix about a year ago. But I don't know if it's still available for sale.

  • Oh Ok I'll have to take a look!

  • what are they names? i only know Harold and Don

  • The others are Phil Balsley and Lew DeWitt (playing guitar). Lew had Crohn's disease and left the Statlers in 1982, and passed away in 1990. Lew was replaced by Jimmy Fortune. Jimmy has a different voice--and wrote several of the Statler's subsequent hits including, Elizabeth, Flowers on the Wall, My Only Love, and others. For more info about a remarkable group, check out the Statler's website, and the Statler entry in Wikipedia.

Great lyrics, beautiful melodies, and wonder hamony.

  • Actually, Lew wrote Flower on the Wall.

  • Whoops--my mistake. Yes, Lew wrote and sang the lead in Flowers on the Wall. Jimmy

    Thanks for the correction.

  • Lew wrote flowers on the wall

  • Thanks -- yes my mistake. Jimmy was about 10 or 11 years old when "Flowers ... " was a hit.

  • 还不错

  • Wow-Micro fret guitars were everywhere back then.

  • Bed of roses kicks ass!

  • They look like geeks but they are gods:D

  • I love Harold voice

My Doctor look just like him, even down to the hair

  • Good ole Cash

  • I love the Statlers so much!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

  • I have this video, and I couldn't help but notice how lifeless the aidience was.Almost embarrasing, yet they had all this great talent in front of them. How dissapointing

  • Maybe big John told them to listen up or he would Beat the Shit out of them!.Or maybe they couldnt understand what the Hell they were saying!! HA..

  • Does anyone know what that fantastic red guitar is?

  • Looks like a Fender Coronado.

  • Micro-frets. So is the bass :)

  • This is very good!! I am addicted to The Man In Black.

  • I'm not really into country music, since I'm more of a punk rocker, alternative and else. But hell, this is so classic. And Statler Brothers are truly epic. :) Cheers from Poland.

  • johnny i dont like a lot of shit that happens in this world but like u say i dont like it but i guees things happen that way

  • I've always loved them and they just got better through the years,it was terrible when Lew passed away but Jimmy Fortune stepped up to bat very well and brought a lot to the table as well,no he wasn't better than Lew but very well talented in his own right.

Bravo Statlers and I know Lew is looking down with a big smile on his face.

  • I read that Lew personally helped pick Jimmy before he died. Yes, Lew ALWAYS had that big smile. I miss him

  • Nothing like hearing him sing Susan When She Tried!!

  • I was wrong, wrong and so wrong about these guys. After flowers on the wall i said just another bible thumping group. I miss many years of great stuff by these guys cause of that attitude. thanks to youtube i have been born again with the STATLERS......

  • Nice suits

  • This song is naughty!!! :)

  • The Statlers are so awesome in their own right. And they just got better and better.Lew could sing so easilly without any effort at all.

  • Watching CFotW video of early 60s and then the Danish appearance - they look wuite different but the singing is just as smooth as 10 years earlier.

    Lovely stuff

  • Johnny Cash is SO AWESOME!!

  • Sensational!

  • Great performance by Cash and Statlers! This is one of my favorite DVD's and only $10! Go out and buy people!

  • I dig the Statlers harmonizing behind Cash!

  • Wow, check those beatles boots on those Statlers. Far Out...........

  • This is a very sexual song but nobody seemed to notice that back then. The premise of the song is that a young man goes to find his manhood by visiting a woman named Rose who teaches him about sex, "where I was born to be a man."

  • it was about an 18 yr old boy hungry and homeless. she was a 35 yr old madaam who took him in as a boy toy.he fell in love with her.

  • I just realized I quoted the lyric wrong. It says "...Where I was taught to be a man..." Earlier I thought they were saying "...born to be a man." Yes, it is very suggestive, but a good song from some good ole boys.

  • Rockin' the mullet.

  • My friend has this dvd and we spent hours trying to figure out what the statler was playing for a guitar, perkins also had a teal one. Is it just a weird fender?

  • DENEMARK!!!?

die sollten es besser auf GERMAN (deutsch) übersetzen

  • johnny and TSB the very best!

  • My all time favorite Johnny Cash song. The lyrics really hit home don't they? Miss you Johnny!

  • wow Statler Brothers didnt know them its just awsome just like johnny

  • Wooo! I have this on DVD. Such AWESOME SONGS!! And the Statler Brothers are so cool. Johnny Cash is legend.

  • Awsome group

  • Great Tune

  • AMEN fastback1. You just don't hear music like this anymore. Shame they are not played on regular radio anymore. Thank Goodness for XM!

  • which year?

  • denmark 1971

  • I love these both songs! Johnny Cash is my hero!

  • My Hero too

  • Johnny Cash and The Statler Brothers together! Does it get any better? Mistakes and all you knew it was from the heart not like the crap coming out of Nashville these days!

  • It does not get any better than this!! They are the greatest. Nobody can come close to these guys right here. It's great to be alive today to listen to these great artists. Lucky us!!!

  • You bet they are the best. My sister who passed on requested the song from them( You are my sunshine) and everytime i hear it It reminds me of her. It is the only memory I have and I owe it to the THE STATLERS Good PEOPLE

  • You're so right!!!.

  • This is very nice music, I love it. There is also a beautifull dance on this song.

  • the only thing as good as their voices is their facial hair.

  • Amazing loved it!

  • bunch of legends in the same show. just great!

  • that is soooo awesome

  • thye are like Merle Haggard times 4

  • good

  • Johnny is Great , RIP , The Statlers were and are the Best Country Quartet Ever !

  • AGREEEEEEEDD

  • I love hearing Lew's tenor part on the chorus near the end of the song.

  • That's my favourite part! I used to think it was a woman when I first heard it in Grand Theft Auto :p

  • i like it

  • That's my uncle!

  • Nothing comes close to "Classic Country Music." I truely believe they should have been inducted a long time ago. Why is this? It upsets me!

  • why aren't the statlers in the country hall of fame???

  • couldn't agree with you more

  • Why cant country singers be more like Coe, Cash and the Statler Brothers? Today its nothing but bland, lily white metrosexuals all singing about the same syrupy crap.

  • amen to that brother!!!

  • What is that in Lew DeWitt's hands? Could it be a Micro-Frets guitar?

  • Awesome tune! The Statler Brothers are the best -- and Johnny Cash -- What a man!

  • GOLD, Pure and simple Gold!! TY for posting it.

  • Love it! Miss them both!

  • The original Statler Brothers singing one of their

greatest songs live at the peak of their careers. It

is fantastic. Thaks for sharing this.

  • It doesn't get any better than this. Johnny Cash and The Statler Brothers. WOW

  • The Johnny Cash touring show in 1971 (when this clip was filmed) with The Carter Family, Carl Perkins, The Statler Brothers, and the Tennessee Three was the most talented, polished, and enjoyable show country music had ever seen -then or now.

  • You're so right about Johnny's show! I saved my ticket stubs from all the live shows I saw "back in the day!" I wrote who I saw on the back of them. I have one from Feb 16, 1968..Stanley Theatre in Jersey City,NJ. Starring Johnny, The Carter Family, Statlers and Carl Perkins. AND all for $4.00!

  • Johnny Cash was the most beautiful man who ever walked the Earth (besides my Dad). And The Statler Brothers--pure class!
