I bought one and youtube isnt compatible with it's default file type when I try to convert it it turns my 10 min videos into 10 seconds of nothing. and wont even upload to youtube. I've tried numerous software but I get so many errors when trying to import it saying it either doesn't understand it or it has too many things going on or something. I am using windows xp and frankly this cam sucks! it boasts easy youtube uploads but its a piece of $#!+
focus isn't very good and the AVCHD file type is good, but converting it t use on youtube isn't good. i have tried it for mp4, mpeg2 and so on. Could anyone help me figure out the best way to keep the HD quality without loosing anything while converting? Please!
I've got one of the Panasonic SD1 with 5.1 surround. It really does the job well. I actually prefer using even the stills setting for my normal photography it is that good. If you want to see it in action, goto "mateybloke" and look for the Ultravox Astradyne video. The sound is excellent also. I'll never buy another camcorder!!
"P" stands for progressives which the television reads a full frame and "i" stands for interlace which the television reads every other frame. So the answer to your question would be "p" because the picture is clearer and smoother than what you would get with "i". 1080i is also considered to be equivalent to 720p.
1080p and 1080i has the exact same resolution (1440x1080) and 720p is 1240x720. So 1080i can not be compared to 720p.
The difference is that 1080i is interlaced, meaning that there is a small blend between every frame, making it somewhat smoother but more slightly blurred.
when the television is reading every other frame of the picture, the quality of 1080i is equivalent to 1080p. When shopping for a television and you come across a television spec and it says 1080i it means that the tv can take 1080i but will reduce the resolution to1240x720 but yet quality still the same. You wouldn't get that with progressive (p) as where a full frame is being read.
Audio is everything when it comes to films. No external mic input really sucks! Come on Panasonic, get your act together. Here's an idea for your next model, add a built in mic that's also a wireless mic which can be removed from the camera. This would then expose a mic input
its SD1 3CCD AVCHD! whats confusing about that? 3CCD's on a camcorder that records in the Advanced Video Codec High Definition to a SD card! Simple really. If you dont uderstand that then what r u doing viewing these camrea reviews? 16Gb Clas 6 (thats 6mb/s to you!) is currently the largest from Transend with talk of a 32gb by christmas! So what is your problem?!
Heh, I was just making fun of the way he talks. It's not very salesmen-ish to throw in that many terms. It's not like I couldn't figure out what they mean.
i have search for a camcorder and i don't know which one to get i have read the review i was going to get the jvc red cam or the panasonic cam hdc - hs9 which one do you have or what camera do you think that is best?
this camera is already passe...with the type 3 do out...panny has stopped support for this product...due to back to back release dates & type 3 upgrade...the type 3 alos does not do SD & HD ...JUst HD>..hmmm
I got this one in march 2007 and had it for a few days until it fell off the bed while I was playing the gamecube, and the thing fell apart

HD fail. Why review HD if you're not going to upload the stinking video in that format?

1080p=1920-1080 1080i=1440-1080 but both are high resolution just 1080p is a little better

I made a mistake: when the television is reading every other frame of the picture, the quality of 1080i is equivalent to 720p------not 1080p

SD 3CCD ABCHD!!! Do you think that is enough confusing terms?
One of the biggest cards you can get are 4 GB. With HD you won't be able to record more than a few minutes.
