this is the description on the bottom of the song "this song was by the women of Bethlehemin the play, just before herod's soldiers come in to slaughter their children" i also wonder why the word slay is a major chord.....
Yes it is too fast. This is a lullaby for a child destined for a life of pain and an early death. (I am an atheist btw). It needs to be slow and the chords need to hang in the air. It is a beautiful song and should rend the heart.
i agree with sketchers356 100% the deep emotion of the song has been lost by the tempo this is a very emotional piece containing alot of depth and it has been lost in this but i will say that they are fantastic and with a tempo adjustment they would be fantastic
I was trying to work out which country they were from - but now I see that it's from Spain. We used to sing it at this pace . . . and especially the verse about Herod. Really good!
I don't really care for this when its that fast. I love the song though and it was sung rather well. I just don't think you can catch and enjoy all the chords when it's sung that fast.
lol we sang that at our choir concert today! (12/10/07) i loved it its the best song we have sang but we sang it alot slower and we said " lu le lu la" not " lu le lu lay"! im in middle school, so to you peoples mite not think it sounds that great! lolz
there are several different versions of how to say it...lully lallu, lully lullay... it's all old english "lullaby". old english people were weird...but cool.
ya im from austin tx and a close friend from saint edwards university canme and made arr. to this song its an s.a.b. part and it sounds diffrent ill post it but you can hardly here it! ill give you the adress to see it or just search heyarod and look at it there! but its gonna be a few days till it gets posted! ill keep you updated!

You are lamenting the death of your baby, lets try to slow the tempo to acknowledge the emotion of the piece.
sketchers356 2 years ago
pieces can be perfomed based on the feeling of the director but taking it that fast was not a very smart decision based on the calibar of the song
