  • It's so strange how music can change one's life. When I first heard Mahler's Sixth, over 20 years ago, it wiped out everything I had heard before. It literally wiped the blackboard clean. And then slowly and ghostlily Beethoven and Brahms reappeared, and then my first loves Sibelius and Bartok, and gradually Shostakovich came back. As I listen to Mahler's Sixth tonight I realize how stupid I am. There is no blackboard. Music lives in the mind, continually re-inventing itself.

  • he milks that note from 0:20-0:24 for fucking EVERYTHING it's worth

  • That percussionist is using the hammer of Thor!

  • @maestro1286 it's...hammer time!

  • @maestro1286 I would wait more sound of that gig hammer.

  • @codonauta It's more of a physical effekt that loudspeakers really can't produce. An active subwoofer could possibly give it some punch - crank up the volume and don't live in an apartment like I do :/

  • @codonauta It's more a physical effect that loudspeakers really can't produce. Maybe with an powerful active subwoofer and a noncompressed recording it would be possible. Crank up the volume then and don't live in an apartment - like I do :/

  • in heaven

  • I love the way Bernstein hops 6:27 hahaha!

  • First part of the Finale? Or, are you referring to the first movement? Either way, I'm seeing both, just look up Tokkemon's videos.

  • Why is there no first part?
