I am glad so many people like it. I heard my sister practiced this piece in the early 1970's. When I heard it again in the 1980's, when I was older, I love it.
I don't know if you're still looking, but here's a video of her actually performing dance of the yi people, also, do you know if there's an actual dance that goes to this? I'd like to see it.
Yi is the name of a minority in China. The composer Huiran Wang conceived this piece after one of his trip to Yi's area. He is the one who invented the "Tremolo" for pipa (with four fingers instead of three as we see in guitar tremolo).
The first one arranged the piece for guitar is Biao Yin. Xuefei Yang's version is mostly similar to Yin's. Except that Yin is more flamenco flavored.
The theme is absolutely beautiful. I believe this is by far the greatest Chinese original music for guitar.
This sounds like a variation of a composition I found on a CD called "Dance of the Yao People", but of course I could be wrong. Never the less I´ve been looking for this piece for ages. I prefer the other version played on a Dulcimer. This is very good though.
@yellowman88: maybe our eyes get sore, when we get to behold you, who knows ;O) . For the people with brains and feelings, Liu is one of the rare spiritual musicians like Wynton Marsalis or Nigel Kennedy. But nobody looks so neat as she does. Great soul, great artist.
my friend, it is unfair to make a statement like that. Yellow man may have been rude, but heavu metal is a very diverse genre with many sub genres with in. to classify such a diverse form of music as bad is cold and foolish. I love metal as much as I love traditional japanese and chinese music. we can like it all : )
i know what you mean it is but the guy said this is bringing pain to his ears.... there are spose to bring peace and metal is a type of music that you enjoy in a diffrent way i mean you cant say metal brings peace when its some guy yelling at you ya know what i mean?
Speechless ....
No words can describe the feeling. I used to love Er Hu only. Now there is one more instrument touch my heart.

I listed the 彝族舞曲 at 70's, but the 九百九十九朵玫瑰 was around 80's to 90's!!!!!!
