  • What kind of camera were you using to make this video?

  • @burnproof21 This was done using a special camera that the ear-nose-throat doctor had. It had a long probe with lights attached and was connected to his computer (Mac) using USB.. Hope that helps :)

  • I'm going through this now & I can't wait until it heals. It's been 12 days since it ruptured. I got a flu & my left eardrum burst from an infection although I had little or no pain and no drainage. The doctor said I have ruptured eardrum & gave me anitibiotics and nasal spray. I have loud high pitch ringing constantly and a plugged, full sensation & lost about 40 percent of my hearing. I hope and pray that it heals!!!

  • @MultiRatatattat yeah, i have an infection in the same ear and it ate away 40% of my eardrum, so i know how it is and hopefully mine will heal back fully.....because i can"t hear a damnthing......theirs always something i tell ya, if it"s not one thing wrong it has to be another

  • I'm just going through thus now, had a viral infection flu symptoms etc. The pain is just unbelievable and there us fuck all you can do, I've got some medication now do am hoping that will help. But fuck me is rather a fucking broken leg than this. Great vid thanks.

  • @wokos32 I hope it works out for you with the medication. You're welcome, thanks for watching.

  • I got a small hole in my right eardrum as well, I got a small ringing sound all the time in my ear, but only noticeable when it's quiet such as when I sleep, I also wake up to the sound, and it's louder during mid night, I have had ruptured ear drum for about 1 week 2 days now, is it normal to have this ringing sound when you got a hole in your eardrum? Did you have it?

  • @TriathlonMoe Hey. I don't think I had the ringing, but there are a million ways this can occur and it is probably not uncommon. If the hole has not healed by itself by now, I would probably see a doctor. At least to get a status.

  • @TriathlonMoe i don't think i've ruptured my eardrum, but i have the same conditions of you. have you found out anything more?

  • @wannaseemyw4ng Hi! I have had it for about 2-3 months now, it has finally become un noticeable now, I actually started to hear it in my other ear as well(!), I went to the doctor and she saw scars on both my eardrums, coincidence? :O Anyways, I have been able to sleep without any fan or anything the last 4 days, and it seems to be gone or almost gone now, I don't wake up anymore to it etc. I was very afraid it was permanent since I had it for so long, but hold on it gets better!

  • @TriathlonMoe I have had the noise for just over 2 months now, but it comes and goes, and I think it has become less severe. Thanks for the heads up.

  • @TriathlonMoe Yes it's very normal. It should dissipate in 4-6 weeks and you'll be back to normal. One day the noise will just be gone.

  • my left ear is peforated and bleeds but its supposed to heal

  • i just poped my right one at thai boxing, it's ringing isit normal

  • I've heard having your eardrum ruptured hurts a lot!!!!

  • did it heal eventually?

  • @martinki11 Thanks for watching. It did yes. :)

  • @liljekrans what other symptoms did you have with the perforated eardrum? Was there any sound distortion, low tone ot high pitched ringing or sound distortion? I wish I could look at my poor ear drum.

  • @sewdavicious I had reduced hearing, which was significant in crowds. I did not have any ringing or other annoyances. Good luck with it.

  • @liljekrans Where did you get the digital USB Otoscope? I have to take my goofy doctors word. You have nice canals and drums. My doctor told me that I have something whitish/grayish blotch on my left drum, my problem one.

  • @sewdavicious The doctor in New Zealand had it - so I'm not able to help you there :/

  • Last year I had the same problem and on September of last year I have a surgery, on left ear. But am ganna have surgery on tha rigt ear on November because I have another hole on the eardrum.

  • @miss19ellie19 thanks for the reply. well actually the hole itself took only less than 1 week to heal in my case, although it took a little longer to feel well agian.

  • my five year old has A perforated eardrum i just took her to the doc today im scared becuse every fall and winter time she gets ear infections can this make her lose her hearing ? Is it so sereious i consider surgery? i feel terribel :' (

  • @starrrayinne When she gets a cold or whatever take her to the doctors and they should be able to give the right medication to clear the infection. Should heal just like cut skin.

  • @Knight0fBrittania Thank you friend : D *(HUGGZ)*

  • @Knight0fBrittania u have no idea what ur talking about so why post a comment

  • @michael04111986 Maybe because I am advising somebody. Maybe because somebody needs an answer which I can give. Maybe because I had my ear perforated and as I am, googled it and good all the information of wikipedia and the NHS. And they said if you get ear infections which tend to cause perforations when you get an ear ache go see your local GP, as they can treat it early and cure the infection before it perforates the ear.

  • @miss19ellie19 That's a bummer, I hope it goes well. Do you Ringing in your ears? i do D:

  • @miss19ellie19 Thank you :D

I'll try the cotton and vaseline tip, but I no longer consider an operation :) Anyways, thanks! And BIG NEWS: my doctor said that the skin around the perforation looks like it's HEALING!! Maybe, in a few weeks/months, I'll be able to swim underwater like I used to! :D If I dare, that is :S

  • hii.. my ear drum is ruptured its been 9 months now , but i get to hear the ringing sound , its very annoying at the same time am Very SCARED abt the healing part ..

am taking medicines since 9 months no improvement , am scared of this , i place cotton ball to the ear .. can any one PLEASE suggest what to do PLEASE am very concerned abt my future .. am preventing from water as well since then ..

AM AWAITING FOR THE REPLY FROM ANY OF YOU ALL ...

  • eww...sorry,it just looks really sick cus its not my ear. My mom thinks I might have a preforation. My ears been hurting for days and now I cant sleep its so bad right now. I am gonna go to the doctor soon. It also might be an infection from poking it with a cu-tip. Ow....

  • I can't tell u how many times mine perforated. That's why I've had a total of 6 separate ear surgeries.

  • @HecticProductionsTV Yes it's called Myringoplasty. I too have a perforation in my left ear. Not everyone is a candidate for the surgery depending on how well they hear. My ear nose throat doctor feels that no surgeon would operate on me because my hearing is too good for surgery. To do surgery almost without question; I would be looking at further hearing loss from the scaring. Hearing tests can be done in every case. Some may benefit, and some may not. Depends what risks, and what people want

  • This is what i had .. My ear drum perforated last week and i was in so much pain.. Now i have a blocked ear without pain but it's been a week and has been beyond annoying.. I just want it to go away!

  • @HecticProductionsTV No, they don't hurt, only if my ears are filled with water and they never are. In my case, they would have to open my entire ear and lift the whole machanism out and then close the hole, and THIS method could make me deaf, and I can't risk it. But if they heal by themselves I'll be glad not to have done it ;)

  • @HecticProductionsTV I allready know. But since I'm a musician, I can't do that... I do have a good hearing, and the risk is that I might go deaf, and I won't risk it.

  • @HecticProductionsTV Means it won't heal ;) Just kidding, I'm shure you understood that. But the problem is that my right ear has been perforated since I was three, and my left since I was 11, so.... they just won't heal! But my eardoctor said half a year ago that they didn't look the same anymore, so maybe they ARE healing :O I hope so! But until now they have both been permanent holes, yes

  • Did u ever get your hearing back? How long did it take?

  • @gluetubeserver I didnt have that no - it was more of a problem to understand people when I was in bigger crowds or noisy places. My problem was also high frequencies, not the bass... Good luck with your ear! Yeah, it should heal on its own, unless it is really quite big.

  • i have a hole in my eardrum and im getting surgery on it, it is a big hole

  • I just did the same thing on thursday. Fast snorkeling dive to 20ft.. pop! I cleared the water out & have antibiotics. Glad that google tells me it should heal on its own.

  • @proaudiohd It should heal on its own, if it doesn't they cover it up with a small skin graft. I had 2 small perferations in my right ear due to a gun going off close to my head 0_o

  • Okay Guys i got Slapped froma gangsta on the face real hard..SOO HARD i have a small hole in my ear drumm....soo doc said he will refer me to a specialist and likeim pretty nervous like i cant hear any bass and stuff... what do i do now?? he said i cant swim i cant bath without covering my ears......willl the hole heal by itsself??? please help mii guys.... is there anything i should know?? im pretty fuckin nervous...

  • @xxxpopo5xxx It SHOULD heal on it's own..Are your ears ringing? the ringing may go away, or it may be there forever. just listen to what your doctor says. For now, you can go a Pharmecy and ask them for " Swimmers Ear plugs " They are a clear looking gel that you can mold into your Outer ear, Use these when you want to shower. They are like 5$ or you can have your ENT ( ear doctor ) perscribe some for you. If the hole does not close, ( which is rare ) they will cover it up with skin graft.

  • I have a bad cold just now and last night blew my nose really hard and felt a really sharpe pain in my left ear went to sleep woke up the left side of my face was throbbing with pain went to the hospital they looked in and i've burst my eardrum in the center a pretty big hole had to have it glued shut was in a&e for 7 hours now im home and doped up on painkillers lol

  • im pretty sure one of my eardrums got busted but i dont know how to make sure

i dont think it can be too bad but i just saw a video where 2 guys got into a slap fight and one of them got his eardrum busted he held is nose and blew and air came out of his ear

i tried it and the same thing happened

  • @silvervolt7 The best way to be sure if your eardrum has ruptured is to see a doctor.

  • THIS HURTS SOOO BAD

  • At 160db this is what happens. my source, History channel. ouch, that sucks.

  • is it dangerues to perforate ur ear drum

  • @belgianmonkeylover no it heals. its not forever. i have only got a ear wax problem. at least, i think. my ear has not been wet. it feels all warm in it and its uncomfortable. it doesnt hurt i mthink i have n infection. when i used olive oil it made it worse. i couldnt eat after this cuz i got hit by a car. but now i still cant eat because it feels like my right ear is filling now! it used to be my left ear! helllp

  • @belgianmonkeylover Dangerous? uhm well it wont kill you, ,but it can cause permanent hearing damage and Tinnitus ( A constant ringing, roaring ) sound in your ears 24/7 for life.

  • and this is why i will never go shooting with out ear protection again :(

  • Holy crap, only 3M? Dang! Really interesting video, thanks for posting. When I was a kid I could go all the way down in the deep end of the public pool (at least 10 feet) and lay down on the pool floor. Now when I get to about 8 feet it really, really starts to hurt so I cant imagine what that must feel like.

  • Studio** not Study, damn iPhone...

  • I just burst mine too a couple of hours ago as an consequence of diving wrongly from 10 meters height. There's water and some blood running out all the time, and the pain is crazy. The Doctors said I had a small hole and it should be fine in 2 days or some... I'm a "amphibious" man! And need my ears especially when I'm freediving and scuba... and also I work in a Study so I need some exellent hearing.. Do you think this will f*ck up the future for me? Btw, video of me diving wrongly will be up..

  • i just burst mine this morning and

I was just wondering how long does it take to heal?

and when does this stupid ringing in my ear go away? any answers would be awesome

    cheers

  • @MJisGD The ringing may go away, or it may never go away. There is no telling, most people learn to live with the ringing.

  • @MJisGD it will take some about 6-7 weeks accordinf to foogle

  • im a swimmer and ive done this a few times, its terrible when you try to pop your ears back to normal its like theres an air tunnel going straight through your ear... weirdest feeling

  • How long did it take to heal? Did you swim at all during the healing process? I'm asking because I just ruptured mine.

  • My wife accidentally perforated her eardrum 4 years ago with a quetip. She can still hear out of the ear but loud noises hurt her ears. She also gets constant ear infections. She went to a doctor last year who said the perforation will heal on its own. So how long does that take? Because it's been 4 years and still hasn't healed.

  • @manilaenglish Without being a doctor, it sounds like it isn't healing on its own? I was told that if the perforation was bigger, then some sort of patch / membrane would be put on the eardrum to help it heal. For what I've heard, normal healing takes 2-5 weeks. Good luck with it.

  • @liljekrans Thanks. It's been 3 years now so I don't think it's going to heal on it's own. We've seen 2 doctors for her ear and neither of them said anything about patches or suggested surgery. They just keep giving her antibiotics when she gets an ear infection and say that it'll heal on its own. So I guess that's a warning to anyone who has to see a doctor in the Philippines. I've had similar experiences with my own health with "American trained" doctors in Korea.

  • @manilaenglish did the doctor happen to mention what the size percentant of the hole was ? because mine is 40% and i"m afraid mine will never heal back

  • @smackenjack I just asked my wife and she said the doctor told her it was "small" but didn't give her any idea of how small, small is. Thank you for asking. Sorry to hear about your own perforation. I hope you don't have too many infections.

  • @manilaenglish i actually have to go back to my doctor this coming up monday, so hopefully theirs gonna be good news.....i hope, i really don"t know what to do, i"m always depressed about something and this just adds to it more so, sometimes i just think i"ve should"ve been put in the ground a little sooner, i"m always having some kind of health problems especially neck and back pain that never goes away, which i never had checked out

  • @manilaenglish Well, my wife's ear drum has been perforated for 4 years now and she's still with me, so that's probably a good sign for you too. Last year her ear kept getting infected but she was living in the Philippines at the time. We finally got her back to Korea 4 months ago and she hasn't had a single infection yet. Perhaps the water is cleaner here.

  • @liljekrans I mean 4 years. Not 3 years. Sorry.

  • that looks SO fucking painfull!!!, ive perforated my eardrum due to an ear infection the pus built up behind my eardrum and put pressure on it. i never felt pain like it in my whole life!!!.

  • hey i just ruptured my eardrum yesterday while boxing and they said it would heal over time but did everything go back to normal for you like can u basicly hear everything u did before and did you also hear this annoying ringing noise?

  • @SimonBC778 I can hear all normal sounds again, that went back to normal in a few weeks. Tests show though, that I don't react to high frequencies (like above speech, nothing I notice - at all) on the ear that had the perforation. I didn't hear a ringing noise, but I've seen many people say that they had the same. I guess it depends on a lot of things related to the ear (perforation size, location etc)

  • @liljekrans I got punched also, The problem is that they feeling slight clogged I guess but more over, When listening to music, I felt the bass in only one ear, the other one didn't pick up the bass, then I thought it was the headphones, I put both phones on my good ear and heard the bass, so for some reason, one ear cant pick up rumbles and deep sounds, I got hit yesterday (boxing), did you have that problem too.

  • @gluetubeserver I have the exact same problem right now. Did your ears go back to normal yet?

  • @INFINITEconscious yea, took about 2-3 weeks, it gradually came back but it was very noticeable because I listen to a lot of bass heavy music.

  • @gluetubeserver Same here, i listen to a lot of bass too. Its good to know it goes back to norm, because i cant stand the un-equality lol. Thanks for getting back to me, takes a lot off my nerves.

  • @INFINITEconscious no problem ;)

  • @SimonBC778 the ringing noise is tinnitus

  • @SimonBC778 yeah mate i just did that to my opponent the other day and we fought again a couple days later and he returned the favor hahaha. my ear seems perforated now too but then i fucked it more by snorkelling.. i go doctors tomorrow..how long did yours take to heal?

  • Buhuuu!!! :'(

I've got a PERMANENT hole in my eardrum - both of them!!! :(

I can't swim underwater at all! At least not without something blocking...

And I LOVE swimming underwater!! Does anyone have a tip???

  • @MsBabbi There's actually these plugs you can put in your ears, made for water activities when you cannot have water in your ears. I got them at the ear-nose-throat clinic I visited back when this happened to me. They cost me about 15 USD.

  • @liljekrans whay do you call them

coz i have a permanent hole in my ear drum too

    and i love swimming

  • @MsBabbi You need surgery. Go for it!! Look for a good doctor, he will fix it.

  • @Trim1 Yeah, I'd love to take surgery, only problem is that I'm a musician, so it might effect my hearing (and since it's on both ears, I might go deaf) :'(

Therefore, surgery is out of the question T-T

  • @MsBabbi i think i might have this... if you get water in it does it really hurt?

  • @Soadrock132 It might. Before (when I only had a hole on ONE eardrum) I could swim with that ear above the surface and my face underneath... But if I made a mistake, and water entered my ear, it would hurt so much I almost cried :'(

But it doesn't hurt if you use plugs... :)

But yes, without plugs it REALLY hurts!!

  • @MsBabbi mee tooo

  • @MsBabbi cant you get surgery

  • @ACJacko1 No, then I won't be able to play piano, violin or viola. Period

  • @MsBabbi "Silly Putty", used it as a kid all the time.

  • @mrmeoff Don't have it here...

  • @MsBabbi i have that too both of them... T_T

  • yes, i know which part is perforated. i'm not a chimp.

  • @ppRoss haha lol

  • i have dat same shit it fucken sucks ass

  • wat a dumb ass i hope it never grows back u fucking loser

  • mines never got healed, had it since december and it still hurts. no doctors

  • @ViETxSOULJAx Ok, I had that problem too, except for about 5 years, and it never healed completely. Ask for a fat plug. This is a really minor surgery, and can't even really be called a surgery, just kind of an operation. The take a little fat from the back of your earplug and place it in the hole, and then it helps the eardrum heal and it eventually disolves. Works for me, it has a 90% success rate, for the people it didn't work they just had to get a more invasive surgery. Try it!

  • @TehGunk Thanks for sharing. I didn't know they could use your own fat... :)

  • you also need to clean your ear. i saw some dust and crap in your cilia.

  • I have a perforated eardrum right now. It's pretty damn painfull when I wake up in the morning but for the rest of the day it's alright.

I have to go back and see my doctor in two weeks. I hope by then It's healed up, though I keep seeing different sources contradict each other with the amount of time it should take to heal. Some say two weeks, others say eight weeks and even a year. :/

  • How long does it take for the liquid to stop dripping out of your ear?

The colour of my liquid is yellow

    Is this OK??

  • I think I have the same thing lo. My ear keeps poping and ringing, its driving me nuts and I get this filling up sorta feeling.

  • @SonicGamer1991 i have the same thing at the moment a ringing sound my ear feels full did it heal in the end?

  • @donbroni Yeah it did, it only took a month with antibiotics.

  • I had a perferated ear drum and it did not heal but i got infection after infection and 2 of my 3 bones in my ear eroded and i had to have an operation to replace them with muscle tissue. When i had this i would wake up with a yellowy substance everywhere that smelt of cheese :(

  • Hi, I just had an eardrum perforation during syringing this wednesday. it's been the 3rd day now. no pain anymore but still quite some bloody liquid coming out especially when i sleep. i have a scheduled re-visit next week, but i wonder if i should seek care now because the bloody liquid is also buiilding up behind my eardrum... by the way, can you tell me how long did it take for your eardrum to heal? thanks.

  • @ripriprichard I ain't no doctor :) But bloody liquid would make me at least call my doctor..

I think it healed in about 2-3 weeks

  • Did you get your ear patch or did the doctor recommend you to let it heal naturally?? I just found out that I need to patch up the hole in my left eardrum but I'm very nervous because I always hate going to the doctor and finally had the courage to go and now this..ugh!! Let me know. Thanks.

  • @yangml I was told that it would heal naturally, and it dit.

  • @liljekrans was your hearing affected after it healed? cus the skin grows back thicker

  • @blinkvirus Not noticeably, but a hearing test showed that there are certain high frequencies that I can't hear..

  • Help man, I can breath through my ears with my moth and nose closed - plus I've been doing the valsalva maneuver for a few days to relieve pressure buildup. Hearing is very important to me - what do I do?

Should I head to the Emergency room or is it not a big deal?

  • If theres a hole in your eardrum,i have it.

  • i ruptured mine too with a q-tip. i can hardly hear a thing in my left ear

  • the is the cleanest hear i have ever seen

  • wow thats sweet to see what it acualy looks like!! when i was a baby my eardrum would CONSTANTLY rupture and id have ear infections up until i was about 13 years old and now after 7 years..it happend again out of the blue lol so who knows but its intresting to see what that looks like! hmm i wonder what mine would look like cause i can stick a boby pin completly into my ear.....proably not a good thing and i dont typicaly do that but i can lol

  • and hey atleast your ears were clean :D lol

  • how did you film it?

  • @nyterror The doc I visited had this special camera he attached to his Mac... (I just happened to have an external harddrive with me)

  • my right ear perforated 2 years ago hearing is back at the same time or how many years REPLY plz :)))

  • i just did the same thing couple days ago. but i was down about 9m. spear fishing. i have to ask did you have yellow liquid coming out your ear? and how long did the hearing loss last.

  • Hi JacHell666.

You will probably get the best answer from your doctor :) But yes I had some yellowish liquid coming out, but it was just water from the dive. Hearing loss lasted about a month I think..

  • cool as long as my hearing comes back

  • Well I will always recommend going to a doctor to make sure it is fine. If it heals before your ear is clean, I suspect you could get infections. So I think sometimes it is necessary to insert a tube to make sure it clears. Good luck with it :)

  • yea already went to the doctor. they said im good. no infection ad its healing which is cool. still sucks not being able to hear.

  • i was born with enfected ears somehow ear gunk keeps coming out over & out

  • i have a perforated eardrum to and my ear has swollen up so my doctor prescribed me 'Locorte-Vioform' and i saw on net doctor that i am not to use it so what does anyne else think ?

  • this is what happend to me, i had to go in for an operation, and they had to take a peice of skin from behind my ear and put it in my ear so i had a skin graft, if u have that and u have stiches i would suggest when u have your next appointment ask the doctor to take the stiches out, mine got infected

  • im sorry that really doesnt sound good :S

  • ive got a perferated eardrum

  • Was this your first dive or first few dives to 3 m? I routinely dive/snorkel down to 5 m without having to equalize and without encountering ear barotrauma. Now, I did SCUBA down to 15 m and heard a hiss around 12 m, but thankfully an ENT said it was not preforated.

  • It wasn't my first dive.. But I don't dive very often and I guess it differs alot from person to person.

  • Ouch! Could you feel the pop when it happened? HOw much water got in?

I have tinnitus and it sucks!

  • I only felt the pain, didn't hear the pop. I don't know how much water, but it kept "leaking" the next 40 hours or so.

  • I currently have that =[

  • im pretty sure this happened to me..i can only hear really high notes, was your ear draining at all?

  • Hi Lusheris.

My ear drained withing the first two days. I assume the hearing loss depends on where the perforation is and the size of it. I could only hear low notes (below 3.5kHz).

  • hey i jus wanted to see how your ear healed and whether or not your hearing is back to normal or not

  • Hey s0ku.

My hearing seems fine now, I haven't had it checked yet. Will do after my current travelling.

It healed in about two weeks and I have been snorkelling since that several times.
