Thunderball and Die Another Day Blu-ray Steelbooks, Duckman, I Am Legend Blu-ray Boxed Set

I did like the prisoner series, I watched one episode of the remake and that was enough. I too still Pioneer Elite Laserdiisc player, something I could never part with, got some music LD's that aren't available on DVD. I heard the prisoner is supposed to look amazing on blu ray, I haven;t bought it yet either. As for James Bond I never bought nay of them on blu ray as my favourite Bond film s Goldeneye and I am miffed they brought out al the other Pierce ones yet not my favourite one.

If you could answer me that, then I'll just have to keep my 2002 edition when I pick up Ultimate DVD edition, but if the blu ray has ALL the features from previous releases, Bond for be blu ray for me. thanks

@DKrules9 From what I've been told, the Blu-ray editions have the same content as the Ultimate Editions. Just with the movie and some features in HD. So might want to hang on to the old edition for the extras (and sounds like I'll have to pick it up myself!). I was unaware of some features not carrying over, thanks for the heads up.

@Zaranyzerak Thanks, glad I still have the 2002 edition. That means the bond ultimate editions aren't so ultimate, especially the blu ray. I'm disappointed. You might want to check up on the other bond film special features, because I do know that there were edition boxsets of Bond films released before ultimate editions were ever released on dvd or blu ray. If Ultimate editions doesn't have every feature from previous editions, then I probably won't start picking them up any time soon.

@DKrules9 That could be a loooong road once you start to go down it. There's extras from some of the old Laserdisc editions that never made it to DVD either. The Blu-rays are plenty Ultimate, if only for the fact that the movies themselves have never looked or sounded so good. And the extras that ARE there are quality extras. Maybe we'll see the old extras carried over at some point, in the mean time just hang on to the old editions that have stuff you want.

I was hoping you can answer me this on Die Another Day blu ray. I have 2002 D.A.D. 2disc DVD. I learned that the Ultimate DVD edition 2disc has new features but doesn't have all of the 02 edition. ie like the mammoth 75-minute Inside "Die Another Day" making-of documentary, the storyboard to final shot comparisons and multi-angle views of scenes, and Madonna's music video of the theme song. The Ultimate Edition again is said to not have this features. Does the blu ray have it?

Wow! Patrick McGoohan was also one of the great bad guys on Columbo. He is a fantastic actor. Wonder why after Sean left Bond, he wasn't considered for the part again? He'd have been great!

I'm getting A BD player for Christmas, its a Magnavox. I don't even have A hi Def tv but I do know that A CRT TV can be made to dislay content above its native resolution in that resolution, its an easteregg I found

Yes. It was SO unlike the original series I don't even know why they bothered to call it "The Prisoner..." Some interesting ideas, but overall very disappointing. Ian McKellen was perfect for Number 2, but Jim Caviezel was terribly miscast. I think Daniel Craig (speaking of Bond) would have been a perfect foil for McKellen.

Fortunately, we just picked up the Blu-ray set of the original series and have been watching that all week. Fantastic set if you're a fan, btw.

You should get the Prisoner complete series box set if you haven't already. Its a terrific set, the extras are great and there's a nice companion guide booklet and a "map of your village" included as well. Definitely worth getting for the show alone.

I own the four James Bond Ultimate Edition DVD BoxSets. I am very happy with them. I also got a very good deal on them.

MGM did an excellent job porting over all of the special features from the James Bond Special Edition DVDs over onto the Ultimate Edition DVDs

However I noticed that Die Another Day is the only movie in the sets that is missing most of the special features from the older special edition DVD.

And about the I am legend, i dident really like that movie. Dont know why.

As for I Am Legend, well, the fact is hyped or not it was a hit movie. They released the set because they knew there was a market for it... We didn't see much of the hype (we don't have cable), so went in fairly fresh. I was interested in seeing it because I liked The Omega Man years ago (which was based on the same story), so I was curious to see the difference. I enjoyed it, personally.

It's a nice set, for sure. It's got quite a few more extras than the previous 2-disc edition, plus everything that was in that. And in true "Ultimate Edition" fashion, there's a lot of "swag" in the box. I'll go into it all when I do the video about it.

Is there a site you frequent that tells you about all of the different varients of titles? or do you just hang around in stores for hours on end trolling over dvdsets, noting down the features then returning to the batlair to scour the net? Thats one Sexy blurray set of IAMlegend. Since i've not getting into bluray i need to tack down lordoftherings in bluray..5awesomeSTuds? typo? S is awfully close to D... ;)

As for comparing editions, I find it's a good idea to get info from a lot of reputable sources, then compare. So I'll compare editions in the store (since I can just hold them side by side and see the difference in features), check amazon and read reviews that go into the features, bluray dawt calm (dang no links rule) for Blu-ray info, and thedigitalbits dawt nett for general info (they often compare features too)

The french is probably on the non Steelbook Edition. The Steelbooks were manufactured in the US, and they don't do that, so when they were shipped up to BEst Buys in Canada, they slapped on that sheet.

Thunderball is an excellent Connery film. It was the first Bond film of Connery's that I ever watched and I must say one of my personal favorites. That I am Legend set looks huge, I still haven't seen that movie yet. Great update.

I Am Legend is an excellent movie, it was a really pleasant surprise for us (we saw it in the theater). The Sean Connery Bonds are my faves, by far. Next wave includes Goldfinger! Can't wait! :D
