They had the money to rebuild it but, on what I heard, it's actually the state that would'nt let them rebuild. It's something about regulaton/minimum amount of land for the main building or something. The land area got reduced by the flood.
This is so sad to see it brought tears to my eyes. I spent many of the happiest times of my life on the pier and I will miss it forever. The fishing was great, it was safe, the staff was awesome, and most of the people that fished there were really cool people. I don't understand why it can't be rebuilt.
back 20 or so years ago they set whole bunch car all along that coast to make a car reef/barrier, but it didn't work out, i lost so many jigs, hooks and weights to that car while flounder fishing...
yep i used to fish out there all the time landed one last big bull red before they evacuated everything i sure do mis that place now there is no trace left of the pier they have now removed all of the remaining pillings what made that place so great was for this area you could catch everything from Tout to tarpon when the water got super clear, guess atleast i was fortunate enough to fish it as much as i did sure wish TPW would build one but doubt the home owners would allow that most hated it!

Hi,
Do you have any latest footage about the pier? (What a great loss) I'd love to know if any repair has been made up to date. Thank you

@hleniko
This video is one of the last to publicly be posted.
The pier is permanently a part of history with no current or future plans to rebuild
It is now part of the ocean
