  • 12 string electric??..must be a custom of his...that thing is cool

  • Wow, now matter how many times I watch this video, I'm still in awe of his talent

  • 2:44 Day Tripper...Yeah !

  • Bravo! Beautiful!

  • On... a.... 12.... string...

  • He used his head as a resonator

  • doyle dykes ladies and gentlemen.... HE FUCKING ROCKS!!!!

  • amazing. so many notes in there its hard to comprehend. ive been playing guitar for years and i love playing very complicated stuff. i know how hard it is to play somthing like this. really well done. thanks doyle for your amazing talents. melody to my ears.

  • I like the cut of your jib!

  • Yes!!!

  • on the video Chet Stuff does anyone know the songs he is playing?

  • He must have a sixth finger :)

  • я не представляю себе, как играть на двенадцатиструнке, причем так легко, как это делает он

  • @BlackCatKoulech Easy for you to say!

  • Mr. Dykes style, musicality, music interpretation, raw talent and demeanor is unparallelled!

  • We Like It Doyle!

  • God has nothing to do with this amazing playing, because Mr. Dykes worked very hard to achieve such professionality. Even if he thinks himself, that he is blessed by god or something, he isn't. He is a master of the guitar and he is that because of himself. He should be proud of himself and not graceful to a guy he doesn't know (because he doesn't exist).

@ atkinsman: You're not that good because you didn't practice as hard as Mr- Dykes did. Easy as that. :)

  • @ApathicAgnostic I don't care about your personal beliefs, they're none of my business, but Mr. Dykes has a lot going for him. If he wants to attribute his success to his own hard work or God's blessing, that's his decision. Your comment was disrespectful. If you want to praise the performer for his hard work and dedication, fine, but remember that his beliefs are just as valid to him as yours are to you.

  • @ApathicAgnostic I don't care about your personal beliefs, they're none of my business, but Mr. Dykes has a lot going for him. If he and/or his audience wants to attribute his success to his own hard work or God's blessing, that's his/their decision. Your comment was disrespectful. If you want to praise the performer for his hard work and dedication, fine, but remember that his beliefs are just as valid to him as yours are to you.

  • @Theroha Mr. Dykes has nothing going for him. I don't see why my comment is disrespectful? Is it disrespectful to you, because I say that his god most likely does not exist? Or, that he shouldn't thank god for his amazing playing, because he achieved this skills on his own? There is nothing disrespectful in it. You and mr. Dykes can think what they what, even if it's dumb and nonsense, but do not blame anyone who says that he did it on his own, without any divine help. That is not disrespecftul.

  • @ApathicAgnostic You missed the point. I never said anything about your beliefs, but you have the gall to say that believing in a divine power is "dumb and nonsense". That was disrespectful. Saying "...not graceful to a guy he doesn't know (because he doesn't exist)." That was disrespectful. The nonexistence of God is just as real for you as the existence of God is for those who believe it. Be respectful and tolerant of the beliefs of others.

  • @Theroha There is nothing disrespectful in saying, that god does not exist. And by the way: I'm an agnostic, not an atheist. I don't believe not in god, I don't know. And I didn't say that believing in divine power is dumb and nonsense, I said that believing that your talents and passion is because a god gave it to you is dumb and nonsense and that isn't disrespectful neither. Please send me a PM if you'd like to discuss this a little deeper, because we spam this beautiful video to death. :)

  • I graduated high school with Doyle. He is as good of a PERSON as he is a musician !!!

  • Too much showing off at the beginning.

  • All I can say is, I wish Stevie Ray Vaughan, Albert King, Chet Atkins were still alive so all of them and Doyle Dykes could play a song together. To bad it be so great that the world would tear at the seems.

  • Мистическая музыка!

  • Doyle gives God and Christ all the credit for the talent he was blessed with and I agree with him. Doyle has been playing over 40 years but it is more than just practice. I have played for many years and have only gotten as far as some basic Chet Atkins picking and some playing in country and rock and roll bands.

  • @atkinsman I understand your interpretation of his life. But it's practical to take into account several factors: Genetics, brain/body composition, parental upbringing, amount/kind/variety of music exposed to at crucial early times in your life, amount of enjoyment for music, emotional stability/confidence, encouragement, perseverance, desire/motivation to pursue a specific field, and so on... Things that make you, Doyle, (and I) COMPLETELY different. Something most people don't think about.

  • @atkinsman I meant to start off by saying: "you're right, it IS more than just practice". And I would begin what I wrote before, but you get the point...

  • I think this is great guitar playing but it doesn't show off the strengths of the Taylor guitars. This comes off thin and tinny. And there isn't much tonal dynamic change.

Taylor makes a great, great guitar, but this doesn't represent it well.

    But it is great playing.

  • yyyyyyyeeeeeeee! Cool!!!!!!!

  • @bigroch1 God doesn't exist.

  • @bigroch1 "i hope that doyle dykes never forgets that GOD gave him that talent and he never forgets who he plays for!"

I don't believe ever will forget... God has blessed him and his entire family with a gift. His uncle was my pastor for a time... and I had the opportunity to perform with him.... I will never forget it...

  • @bigroch1 God didn't give him that talent. This guy has worked his ass off for DECADES. Give him the credit he deserves.

  • @Proghead88 Uhh... you don't know anything about Doyle Dykes, do you?

  • @AnimateDreams I didn't think I needed to to make a statement like that. It's assumed that when someone is very good at something, they worked hard at it. That said, I just read up on him and found out that he's been playing since he was a kid and playing in gospel groups since he was a teenager. What does it mean? It shows that he was interested and applied himself to music from an early age. EXACTLY the kind of factors that help to develop someone of this caliber. Also, read my post below :)

  • @AnimateDreams don't get me wrong: Guys like him are extremely rare. But there will ALWAYS be people like him, by sheer common sense. It doesn't make sense to single out the best and say that God gave them a gift. Let's single out the best "porn artists". People who are somehow undeniably talented at making sex look better than anyone else. Do you think God gave them that gift? Or is it that they just happened to be chosen by us simply because they are the best? How about the best criminal?

  • @AnimateDreams lol, and now I have an image of a major gangster who happens to be a believer in God say to himself as he fixes his tie in the mirror: "God gave me this gift, there is no better crime boss out there." It's a fictional account, but I wouldn't be surprised if it happened. People want a way to give credit, and/or blame something for events they don't really understand or haven't thought about enough to come up with a coherent, logical reason. One of them, is saying "God did it".

  • Is it true Taylor made the first short scale twelve string for dolye?

  • is it true Taylor made the first short scale twelve string for dolye?

  • Monster!!!!!!!

  • I'm not a fan at all of that guitar tone. To me eeech! However Doyle is just incredible.

  • Truly sweet! Love this musician's style and precision. Also love the guitar!

  • i dont know how many times iv seen this...everytime sends that little tingle down my spin...ESPECIALLY from 1:30 onwards! holy cannoli! So damn amazing and precise!

  • hope he is a sperm donor, and put his DNA in a time capsule

  • @semiLivedj if he is a sperm donor. HE COULD BE MY DAD :)

  • BRboi777,I'm your daddy!

  • The intro omg!

  • OMG AMAZING!!

  • 4:18 exploded my face.

  • lol

  • @nEMOheartTaco love the way it EXPLODED in your face...it did so to me too hehe!

  • Quite possibly the most precise fingerstyle 12 string guitar playing I've ever seen. It's amazing how smoothly he can play a guitar that has twice as much string tension as a standard 6 string. And all of this coupled with taylor tone=masterpiece

For my take on similiar fingerstyle guitar playing check out my channel videos (although Im not as good as this master). peace

  • Cool)))))

  • I love his self-made tremolo action ... so good...

  • This is my favorite acoustic guitarist ever. He's the most talanted guy on an acoustic i've ever seen in my life.

  • as far as open tunings go, I'd say your right. However for standard/drop-d I think Tommy Emmanuel has that area pretty much dominated.

  • freaking woww this guy is good, but whos with me,, he kinda looks like john lenno, or lennon the guy from the tonight show,

  • Jay Leno is the guy you have in mind, I think. I can see that a bit! =]

  • i just recently met this dude at Bob's Guitars in Waterloo, he's a phenomenal guitar player. He played this song too. So glad i saw him. God Bless. :L)

  • Just got back from my second concert of Doyles, his music just entrances me. One of the best guitarists today without a doubt, only few can do what he can.

  • One of the greatest guitarists like EVER! this guy should SO come to the UK and give lessons on how to really play guitar haha!

  • any one know what key he's playing in? was it Dm?

  • he is in E minor, and standard tuning...

  • for some reason i just suck with a 12 string guitar, and i think that the 6 strings sound twice as nice, DD is simply amazing

  • yeah 12 strings > 6 strings, especially when u finger pick them ,it sounds amazing

  • Surely the 12 strings sound much more fuller! i mean Doyle shows it all here! ahah

  • I own a Taylor 414ce so I am a big fan of Taylors but I just find the sound of this guitar downright horrible! Amazing picker though.

  • Depends.Taylor imo are the best guitars in reasonable price. If you want something like a taylor guitar you would need to spend x2 money. But in any case Taylor are not the best pieces

  • I have to agree, i don't like the sound of this guitar at all.

  • I've watched this video a bunch of times. This is one amazing player. I just bought a T5 12 string. If I can play it a quarter as good as he can then I'm gold! lol

  • haha if you could play a quarter as good as him you'd be jimi hendrix

  • @ViperSRT1008 Haha yeah, I know exactly what you mean, I've been trying to match this guys skill for ages.

  • Doyle Dykes was performing at my church yesterday. He is the Real Deal. Absolutely amazing, and then between songs he'll just stop and talk about Jesus. Doyle is awesome. I'm not much of a cryer, but his rendition of Amazing Grace had me bawling.... he is gifted.

  • lol this guy is so amazing. i like having the same name as his guitar lol Taylor lol. I wish I could play my guitar as well as he does

  • I can't stop watching this video. It's spectacular!

  • T5 12 strings, one of the amazing Taylor's guitar =)

  • This video is great...BUT there's nothing that can compare to seeing Doyle doin' it live !

He's absolutely incredible. Think I'll go burn all of my guitars, now.

  • Insane how this guys does what normally takes 2 guitars...

  • haha i know. but still on a six string it sound like 3 guitars

  • First time I've seen him on a 12 string. Nice.

  • First seen DD in Nashville at a men's conference, to me is one of the top fingerstyle guitarist in the world.

  • Wow that guy is rediculous!!!

I like the later part of the song the best when he does the crazy "up in the clouds" sounding part"

  • I wasn't aware that the T5 came in a 12 string...wow!

  • great guitar, great playing, but the sound is not what i like, sounds too plinky and trebly, not warm and appealing, hopefully its just his settings cos it doesnt warm me to this model

  • you realise its a 12 string

  • I saw this guy live... the most amazing guitar player I have ever seen.

  • Practice makes perfect. And that was perfect.

  • Yes it is.

  • GOOD LORD!! Wonderful musicianship. Amazaing song. Beautiful instrument

  • Taylor guitars are wonderful instruments. I have a red edge burst T5 custom 6 string and it's a beautiful playing guitar! If only I could play it like Doyle.

  • AWESOME .. Doyle has a nice tremolo technique .. 5 star

I'm honored that people compare my music to his in a few of my video comments ..

Stop by and check out my acoustic guitar video's
