d'on ets de catalunya?
Bellissima lingua.
I totally understand the first part, a bit more the second part, but I'm italian canadian and I speak french and italian, so it's easier for me to understand catalan. Beautiful language.
ho he entès perfectament però em sembla que no te merit sent catalana, o igual si perquè molts espanyols no saben Català, petons i abraçades i segueix difundint el català!!
I speak Italian. It's extremely similar, I can understand a great deal, it's just that you're speaking a bit fast so it's hard to process everything at once.
I could definitely easily understand a text though.
I speak Epanish and English fluently. I can slightly understand Catalan, but there's a lot of words that differ from the Spanish language and that makes me lose track of what you're saying.
(starting at 4.00) or habitually done you speak with a person you remember to make a change for that person. Well Interesting Linguistics but that comes from today, I believe that is enough and you all can comment explaining a little about listening to Catala. See you all another time. Goodbye.
@Auus47 Congratulations! It seems that you can understand very well Catalan :-) Now you can read, write and speak to complete your formation in Catalan :-)
(starting 3.08)Normally Castilian(Castella) is spoken more by a great majority of the people, but a large number can understand it, Catalan. With the exception of new immigrants who don't understand Catalan. Not everyone speaks Catalan. Alot of people (gent) speak it but not everybody. Its also curious because sometimes you associate speaking Castella or Catala to a person . And you always remember if this person speaks Catala and go the same for Castella. its habit-like
(starting from2.27) the situation of Catalonia is most times you dont know which language Idioma (same between Castilian and Catalan) to use. Which llengua (catalan word) to use. Agree? Asking the time. or Asking for an address. If you ask in Castilian people usually change and talk to you (converse you) in that same llanguage. This is a very interesting thing because, of course you never know too well with new people if they want to use one language or the other.
right now I'm speaking Catalan- abans- Earlier I was speaking English. The idea is to see if you can try to understand as much as possible what I saying in Catalan. Agree?
I'm just speaking nothing planned-so I will talk a little over the linguistics of Catalonia, which is a place, it's official Castilian and Catalan, and we can use distinct Castella or Catala without problem, also there are people who do a little bit of Spanish and dont want to chat in Catalan.
@psblove Thanks! Listening to the language you are learning is great for improving :-) If you check out my channel, you'll see new videos (about set phrases, and other stuff).
I have been on google and wikipedia a lot, even enough to know that Catalan is spoken in Alghero, Sardegna! I already speak French, Italian, English and Dutch and can scrape by in Spanish
Here is my "translation" with dots where I dont understand:
The idea is to speak Catalan and for you to try to understand as much as possible........ Catalan and Castellano are both officially used in Catalunya.... Note everyone speaks Catalan, it is a problem for immigrants who learn Spanish.... Welcome (Benvenguts!)
Oh this is freaky. Why do I understand you? I mean not everything, but the gist. It's like hearing the TV switched on to TVE, TV5 Monde and Rai Italia all at the same time!!!
@ihcahieh I have this sensation when I'm reading in Catalan--I means its sort of like having a text in front of me in Spanish, Portuguese, French, and Italian and even Latin all overlapping in a sort of weird overlaping palimpsest.
Very interesting video! It sounds so familiar, like Spanish with a slightly different lilt to it and thus slightly more obscure and difficult to penetrate. For me, it's a little like trying to look at a distant object without my glasses on. Usually I can make it out, but it's slightly fuzzier than it normally would be!
Wow, what a great experiment! I think that I understood 80-90%. I speak French and Spanish and I have studied Catalan a little. I want to study it more because I understand it and with more effort I know I could improve and start speaking beyond 'Estudii català' and 'Saps parlar català?' :]
I could understand 50-60% of what you said. I like listening to Catalan because it sounds a bit differently than other Romance languages but at the same time they're all so similar.
Hola,
