Con respecto al título Trucos de la luz, puede interpretarse como estar "enceguecido" por alguien (o a lo metafísico o ambas cosas a la vez ya que están ligadas).
Es ya casi al final que se descubre que ella color verdadero es "rojo", lo cual explicaría el por qué de ese engaño o desengaño. Ciertamente esto hace que tenga un significado muy profundo y hasta espantoso.
Pero en fín, todo es para aprender. Y como dice el refrán, no hay mal que por bien no venga. Si tenemos desgracias quizá así encontremos la gracia.

I meant goddess in the sense of having physical beauty (those lips!), but she does look mean (except just before the 3-minute mark, where she's innocent, but it could be a trick of the light). I thought that the song was maybe about the nature of love and how we are sometimes deceived. The new tinge you mention makes it spookier and deeper.
It has a catchy beat to rank alongside any fast-paced rock classic. Why the hell have we never heard it on the radio again since it first came out in 1984, and why didn't it do better than it did? It deserved better than so many moany tuneless songs that succeeded. Music business history has baffling moments.
