  • music is, oh my! epic!

  • Just won one of these on ebay, thats a pretty swanky startup screen I must say

  • "Amiga" means female friend in portuguese x)

  • I have one, love it to bad it was short lived.

  • i havent owned any console but only the PS1 PS2 PS3 WII and i think this console startup is pretty cool

  • @gary69gay

    aww, you be trollin' rite?

  • @realcatgirllover Not really. I used to own an Amiga CD32 back in the mid-90's. So I thought I'd look at some of the games I used to play, saw this video in the sidebar and thought it was a joke.

    It was not a joke.

35,000 people have watched the bootscreen for the Amiga CD32... that's pretty disturbing.

  • Woooowaaah!!!! This brings back memories!!! Or in NLP terms: Im anchored!!!

  • Make a plan for a RAM expansion.

  • @jjovereats

there are third party expansion modules, like the DCE SX-32 Pro. it goes in the rear expansion slot of the CD32. it can hold an additional 68030 cpu, a optional 68882 fpu and up to 64 MB of RAM. it also has some extra connectors like RGB, serial, parallel and an IDE connector for an HDD. good luck finding one, they sell for several hundred dollars.

  • Just put your Workbench CD in the CD tray, connect a keyboard and mouse, and this is a multimedia pc.

  • @jjovereats

but what else can you do with just 2 MB Chip-RAM?

  • @realcatgirllover Whatever people did with an A500 with 1Meg, you can do easier on a CD32 with 2Meg.

  • @realcatgirllover With the Amiga I currently have 2 MB would be a Godsend. Ahh, the 500... Like using a Macbook Pro then turning on your G2 XD

  • Actually, when I look at it again with some years distance... it's still quite great.

  • you know its cool because of the CD part.

  • I miss my Amiga, the damn power supply block melted on me one night and that was the end of the console, I was a very sad 12 year old I tell you!!

  • Every time you switch the Amiga CD32 you expect to hear. "Your On Who Wants To Be A Millionaire?" after the jingle. =D

  • wow it sounds dramatic its like it wants u to play it

  • Third released in Poland... heh...

  • You can also run this on WinUAE, even on a cheap netbook!

  • has that console some emulator?

  • CD32: For went a 1200 and a CDROM would make too much sense.

  • This startup screen is my favourite !! I always remember good ol' days of allien Breed with this startup tone.

  • how many amigaCD32 were sold?

  • A fair tens of thousands (maybe reaching 100k +) can't be certain, technically not that rare but still classed as a flop and a commercial faliure, there where less CDTV's.

  • I had every Amiga going at the time when I was about 9 and had the CD32 bought for me on release. Diggers has some of the most atmospheric music on the market and was an awesome game on the CD32! Theyre's a game just been released on the Xbox Live public domain section called Miner for £2 that's very similar to it! It's a shame CBM went tits up :( Thanks for the vid!

  • it's a disc

    IN SPACE

  • @SuperShadow I cannot believe my eyes, it must be true.

  • @SuperShadow lots of disk space :D

  • holy coolness

  • AMiGA CD 32 was the first in the world 32 bit game console at the time and fujitsou FM wasn't released only by a small part of the world. We are talking for products with universal production capabilities not topic! And military was having a long time before 64 bit technology, is that making the first public producer...???NOPE

  • the Amiga CD was crap ok.... but imagine this on chistmas morning....!!!!

    cool or what!

  • The CD32 was actually a really good machine for it's time, but it suffered from straight ports from the amiga and never really had it's hardware taken advantage of.

  • The FM Towns Marty is based on the FM Towns computer that was released in 1989. They share the same relationship that the Amiga A1200 and CD32 have. Both consoles are backward compatible (to a degree) with the computer versions.

  • The world's first 32-Bit home video game console was the Fujitsu FM-Towns Marty released (only) in Japan, in Feb 1993, about 5-8 months before the Commodore CD32 released in Europe and North America.

Thus, the CD32 is the world's *second* 32-Bit console.

  • There's alway's somebody that has to ruin it for the rest of us =P

  • Actually, the FM Towns Marty was released in 1991, over two years before the CD-32.

  • @toggsuk I wasn't. I've heard other people on the Internet say that Marty came out in 1991. Maybe you're right and I'm wrong.

  • Holy crap, I haven't booted my system since I was like 6 years old (which is almost 13 years ago), that intro was epic. And it all came back to me the second the music started. Love it, I need to find my games and hook it back up. DIggers, Oscar, Pirates Gold, oh man I can't wait =P

  • 1993

  • it has a 68EC020, running at 14 MHz

  • These are the consoles I got.

    NES

    SNES

    Nintendo 64

    Nintendo Gamecube

    Playstation 1 and 2

    Sega Genesis/Megadrive

    Sega (Mega) CD

    Commodore Amiga 500

    Xbox 360

  • Amiga 500 is not a console. It is a computer.

  • I know. But obviously, you can play games on it.

  • wow, i remember the good old amiga times!!

    those days were mighty fine

    ALL HAIL AMIGA!

  • kl collection

im making one 2 need 2 buy some more tho=o

  • that's spectacular. wish I had an amiga.

  • I got one...it just appeared in my house when I was younger and was like "what the fuck?" It was much better than the sega master system I had previously.

  • You can emulate the CD32 on modern PCs and play (virtually) all its games.

The required emulator is WinUAE (or E-UAE for non-Windows systems), available free.

This boot screen emulates perfectly! :-)

You will need to LEGALLY obtain the Kickstart (Amiga BIOS) file, either from your own CD32 (by external floppy), or from purchasing a licence.

Then you can slot your original CD32 CDs into your desktop/laptop and hey presto! You can also run the games from your harddrive or portable device

  • Oh man this really brings back memories :)

  • ooooohhhh...soo many colors!!!

  • I thought AGA made stoves, not chipsets :)

  • parece la intro de canal +

  • i basically grew up with this console. this brings back good memories

  • I Imagine Xbox, PS3 or WII with an intro like that

  • this is way more sexual. it pwns the 360, ps3 and wii startups any day of the week.

  • COMPUTER!

  • Why is it weird? It was a CD based console, so that's not technically it "booting", it's the starting screen, and at the end, it's waiting for a CD to be put in so it can boot from the CD...

  • haha i love this start up screen! :D

  • it was the 3DO that was the first CD 32 bit console in america.

  • why is there interlace?

  • Analog Video Source

  • Brings back some memories:D luv that console <3<3

  • Yeah! Always played Pirates! Gold, Pinball Illusions, Ultimate Body Blows and so on...great time, but will never come back.

  • Brings back some memories. This is a better attempt at a startup than the Wii currently has!

  • Wii has only a boring health and safety screen.

  • @LosBee The SMS startup is better than what the Wii currently has

Seriously I've never heard of a console that literally welcomes you by giving you a safety warning.

  • @SuperSmashDolls Haha my wife just bought a Wii and I had to laugh at the warning when you turn it on. In fairness I suppose Nintendo are covering themselves, though it is a bit overboard.

Perhaps after the warning there should have been a *bling! sound and a nice white screen with the Nintendo logo.

    That would have been cool.

To be honest, although my wife bought her Wii for that Fitness stuff I play it more with Super Mario Brothers Wii. It's like a retro flashback brought up to date! :D

  • Cool
