  • Dude do the world a favour and trim off the first 3 minutes of lane knee tapping silence.

  • love the vid dude! are you in pj's?? haha

  • you got D instead of E typo!

  • Thanks so much for sharing! God bless you :)

  • You did good, but from reading the novel in your info section, it looks like you are more focused on views and popularity. Do what you do for God, and keep your focus on Him, with that everything else will follow.

  • @LinnyG21 — Thanks! I love the build it does. It's kind of disappointing that the bass-line is repetitious though. Did you watch my newest video? It's got a great bass-line. It's so good that even I couldn't follow it (the song gets quiet, and it's hard to stay on the 6/8 beat).

  • Awesome song!!!!

  • @rodwyr — Ok. I prayed for you. I'll pray for you. My life is summed up currently in the same way. I want to be on tour in a band, and God Gave me a Big NOPE! Now I am scrambling to try to be happy in the wake of not anymore being in a band. I am failing miserably, and I as a noun feel as I fail.

  • @rodwyr — That all is well-spoken. I like that you're blooming where you are. I need to be content with that in my own life somehow. haha. It's a hard-saying, as the King Jimmy would word. Best in all things to you!

  • @overcometheidiots

Trust me...I'm in the same boat you are. I think the statement that best synopsizes my life right now is "I have many talents...none of which generate income!" Be in prayer for me. Had an initial job interview today, have a 2nd interview tomorrow. If that goes well, 3rd interview discussing pay, schedule, etc. I'll pray for you, as well.

  • @rodwyr — I agree with you. Now my only question at this point is to ask if you ever thought your life would come to this place when you were in younger, or has this always been on your mind.

  • @overcometheidiots

Hmmm...good question! I will say that given my musical abilities have increased over the years, so have my responsibilities musically. I went from leading solo worship a couple of times a year to leading middle school youth to becoming part of my current praise team to leading worship @ another church back to my current church doing what I do now. So, while I have imagined doing something with music for a while, I don't think I imagined me @ this point...(cont'd)

  • @overcometheidiots

I'm further than I probably imagined. Hopefully, God will allow me to be on a larger platform one day. But, while I'm planted where I'm at, might as well try to bloom!

  • @rodwyr — I hope your pastor singles you out in service and has everyone applaud you occasionally. I hope you get paid trips to conferences to reboot your brain that's probably overworked. Do you ever meet up with like-minded people from different churches to talk shop and share the parts of the burden you all carry that only you that are involved would understand? That all is what I would hope for and do. You are quite the renaissance man; the jack of all trades; the "A"-RODwyr of rodwyr's.

  • @overcometheidiots

Well, my praise team will be fed lunch by the church. Ironically enough, I don't consider all I do a burden, really. I love it. I wouldn't do it probably if I didn't. My wife's uncle and a friend of ours I talk shop with from time to time to see what our respective churches are doing, and I thoroughly enjoy doing that. While I don't get the conferences and stuff, the church has helped us with paying a few bills during hard times. So, yeah...there's no rodwyr like me!

  • @rodwyr — Yeah, so you do a couple of extra things on Sunday mornings… JK WOW! You're a workhorse! You sound like our Youth Pastor, who took over to also lead worship. He's in the same boat. If your church gets a new building, they should name a wing after you. hahaha.

  • @overcometheidiots

Yeah...essentially, the only things that are different from when I was a full-on worship leader is I'm not the front-man and I don't get paid to do it now. I got a DigiTech JamMan Solo (looper pedal) for Christmas, so I'm wanting to pre-record the missing pieces in our worship team (the BIGGEST piece being the bass, ironically!), so I'll have even more on my plate. We did build a new sanctuary and finished it around early May 2010...(cont'd)

  • @overcometheidiots

...(cont'd) So, if I were to sum up what all I do, it would be that my job (for lack of a better term) is to ensure that my church's music ministry keeps moving forward, because we don't have a full-time music minister. We have an interim (he's wanting to retire in the worst way!) that handles the traditional side, and I pretty much handle the P&W side. Oh...and did I mention I help my wife out in the nursery during Sunday School?

  • @rodwyr — I feel you on the music-oriented goals, brother. Do you lead the worship at your church? I need a stable job too. I also need a stable college path. "Plucking hand technique" sounds like something a sensei would teach you. :p On bass I can play with a pick or play with my thumb. That's the extent of my skill. haha. Dude, I am working on adding the tab to my next video, "How He Loves," by Jesus Culture. It has a ridiculous, crazy bass-line. To be honest, I didn't play it well enough.

  • @overcometheidiots

Well, yes and no. I did lead worship at another church, but at my home church, I lead more behind the scenes. I research new music to do, teach new songs to our praise team (including chord and song progressions and dynamics), teach our choir when the praise team has it down, pick out the P&W set for Sunday morning (we have a blended service), serve as back-up worship leader when needed...and play electric guitar on top of all that and creating parts for that, too.

  • @rodwyr — Yesss! I get to cut off my rattail and go before the council to get promoted to Jedi status! My next goal is to learn the next song I am going to do, which has a crazy bassline (the hard part is the swing of the notes, which annoyingly changes at random [the tab is pictured in this video's description]). My next big goal is to get into a touring band. I also want to take off the pickup guard off my 1977 Rickenbacker 4001. What are your goals?

  • @overcometheidiots

My goals...I have a few, to say the least. Get higher quality gear, continue to "elevate the game" of the praise team I'm a part of at church as well as my own game, have a job that's stable so I can pursue music further...needless to say, most of my goals revolve around music. Playing guitar as long as I have, I've learned what notes to hit on a bass, but I'm wanting to eventually learn the nuances specific to the bass, but mostly plucking hand technique.

  • Well, my young Padowan, I believe I have taught you well in figuring out keys. Good job!
