Ive FINALLY GOT IT BACK! It was slightly still there. I'd just needed to bring it out, NATURALLY. even tho for the past 10 yrs or more, i've learn to do it differently with many ways. im still rusty. Gotta give it to the teacherS. and to the fundamentals that we, the students, gotta keep practicing. I've practice it everytime when I'm driving whiling listening to practical vocal music. My favorite, Silent night. Thank you again for reminding me how B E A UUUTIFULLY it feels and sounds like.
LMAO!!!!! i knew it!!! i had it naturally when i took classes on singing bak in middle school. but that was a long time ago. it felt soo right having such voice. maybe like the feeling of when u know ur in love with someone. and u just know wat to say to her. too bad id lost it i lost it. cuz people around me whom wanted to shine, told me i was doing it all wrong. wat can i say, i was the only asian student. oh well, starting bak to square one. the basics. Arigato gozaimasu Dillard Sensei.
When you sing vibrato, is there any visible vibration of the throat when you look in the mirror? I want to know if thats okay or its an incorrect technique as well ...
I've been playing trombone for a few years, and vibrato is one of the last things that you learn to do--you only do it after developing a good tone, a good sense of rhythm, good flexibility with your embouchure, and most importantly, good intonation. It's interesting that singers start learning vibrato earlier. I think that stylistically, I'm going to approach vibrato for singing the same way that I do on trombone: only use it on long notes, and start slow and speed up as the note gets softer.
As a member of the church choir, I must say, I DESPISE the shaking jaw. It drives me insane! It looks ridiculous & doesn't do anything for you. hahaha
Hey Erik! I was wondering...Do you know of the Japanese singer named Minami Saori? If so, what do you think of her vibrato?
It seems to me that her vibrato is always strong, powerful, fast, and consistent, no matter what performance I hear. Iwasaki Hiromi's vibrato is equally amazing!
I have quite a hard time with my vibrato and because i sing opera it is kind of getting on my nerves already... It just doesn't sound right without it :( By the way, i don't do it as exagerately as you in the beggining but i feel a slight movement/vibration in my diafragm. Is that bad?

what i heard about vibrato is that some people has natural vibrato and some does not, if you dont have a natural vibrato and you keep trying practice vibrato, it'll actually hurt your voice. also vibrato are developed as you age as opposing to practicing it. Is that true?
@Hasasou Hey there. Great question. Learning to achieve vibrato will not hurt your voice. As long as you are doing correctly and not over-exerting and most importantly, working with a trainer, then you will see that it will begin to get easier to the point of being effortless! =)

But, when your not using your stomach, is it bad to feel this vibrating feeling in your throat or chest. @cheekusri143 Hello! Thank you so much for your feedback. Yes, it is better to keep the rhythms even no matter what speed you use. This helps everything to sound the same and consistent and polished.

i think vibrato makes yur voice more free and takes off the pressure from yur vocals ... yuh dnt need to put pressure at all wen yuh sing .. thats wat im learning from a lot of these videos i've been watching lately ..
You are such a great Singing Teacher!!! I wish I had such a voice teacher as you.... U have humour and u explain what u want to say clearly and clever!!!!!!! If I had u as a voice lesson I would never had stopped my singing lessons cauze you make it fun !!!!!!
Thank you very much . I Like how you talk to the camera As if you had sombody right There Asking for more help . I Also want to say thank you for being So good spirted .( And You are helping very much)
Hey there! You are very welcome. I truly appreciate that feedback! Let's me know I'm going in the right direction. =) Keep me updated on your progress.
Hey there you guys! =) Yes, the acquiring of vibrato is different from person to person; almost the same as there's no way to tell when some grasps the way to balance themselves on a bicycle, you know? So don't lose heart. I've got other vibrato videos that might help to bring more clarity to it. Check them out and hit me up with your feedback.
Practice consistently, but be safe on your vocal folds! =)
Haha, I used to shake my head when I wanted to use vibrato and it sounded terrible! I've always wanted to do it like Thom Yorke in "Nude" but never knew how. Now I know. You seem like a pretty good teacher, I will definitely see your other videos!
Your video is great! I have a question though--I THINK I can do vibrato but I'm not sure. I can't hear whether or not I'm singing tow notes or pulsing one. When I try to use the two note method, it seems like I'm doing something completely different to get my vibrato. Like I'm pushing air to make the sound and it doesn't come effortlessly--but not with my stomache or head or neck. WIth my lungs I think. I'm hoping you can help. Am I doing it incorrectly?
wow. i surfed the net for hours and hours . spent hour and hours trying to figure out how exactly vibrato can be done. and ur vid is only a few minutes but i learnt sooo much. THANKKKSS!!
Hey bro I really appreciate this because I am really trying to starting singing.. I can sing a little, but please keep posting these videos.. it's helping me alot bro!!
is there another way of getting a steady vibrato besides using the 2 tone method u have so artfully described in this and the other video?
likewise, when your turn on/off vibrato using this method, does it come naturally or do u have to like somewhat remember its a pulsation between two tones?
Thanks for watching. You're right, that is "one" of the ways that vibrato can be achieved (with time and experience), but in some cases, it's still never developed as in the case with alot of Eastern singing people. When we find problems like these, we have to use other methods to help them achieve what most people can do naturally.
Good observation, tho! Thanks for your feedback! =)
Can you add a video concerning people who have problems to sing without or with less vibrato (like me p.e.).
Every time I'm using my head voice (p.e. singing the final of the phantom of the opera) I have to use more (I don't know how to describe it - usually I speak german) midriff ???(don't know if that's the correkt word - hope u know what i mean) to not harm my voice (avoid screaming). A vibrato is always there, but with the volume the vibrato intensifies and I can't sing it without.
i can only do or control my vibrato with low notes but when i sing high notes, i can't control and i can't even do it anymore. pls help me. thanks :]

Am I doing it incorrectly?

llyod! pls answer this question - DO YOU BREATHE THRU THE NOSE OR MOUTH in breathing excersises???

I always encourage breathing through the nose, as this keeps your voice moist.

how do i get to last my vibrato???? i mean i cant hold my vibrato to long, it kindda stresses me out!!
XristinaGodess 2 years ago
Hey there,
It's all about breath support. Maintaining good breath support will promote a smoother vibrato style and a longer lasting note.

Is vibrato a purely innate talent?
broadwayismyhome 2 years ago
hey so i have a question. actually 2 :p
is there another way of getting a steady vibrato besides using the 2 tone method u have so artfully described in this and the other video?
likewise, when your turn on/off vibrato using this method, does it come naturally or do u have to like somewhat remember its a pulsation between two tones?
thankss!!

i thought vibrato comes naturally as ur skill becomes more seasoned.
carrieamai 2 years ago
Hey,
Thanks for watching.

*gr* wish i could sing like u!
carrieamai 2 years ago
Can you add a video concerning people who have problems to sing without or with less vibrato (like me p.e.).
Every time I'm using my head voice (p.e. singing the final of the phantom of the opera) I have to use more (I don't know how to describe it - usually I speak german) midriff ???(don't know if that's the correkt word - hope u know what i mean) to not harm my voice (avoid screaming). A vibrato is always there, but with the volume the vibrato intensifies and I can't sing it without.
